I was being sarcastic. The United States could only be taken for granted if it was a peaceful, non-disruptive nation which never invaded other countries for resources or political gamesmanship. Sadly, my country has become the embodiment of the answer to the final question in its own national anthem, the answer being "No, the flag may yet wave, but it certainly does not do so over the land of the free and the home of the brave. Mindless militarism is the hallmark of a nation of cowards.
