  • just another wanna be trying to make money playing music you didnt write, and then plugging it on here - piss off. Keep it original ir nothing

  • Hi ! I am an 18 year old musician and I just made a cover of John Mayer's beautiful song I'm Gonna Find Another You. Now I don't usually promote myself here that much but hey the mood strikes me now and since my first album is on its way I thought it would be a proper thing to do haha :D Anyways you can find the cover on my channel, so go check it out and I hope you enjoy ! - Tomi Saario

  • amazing....definetly!!!! wanna see mine john?¡? log in my page.....thnx, gracias, obrigado, merci, spasiva, kaph kun kan arigato

  • mine's at enjoyflow! my "own version", "my way" ... peace! enjowflow! :)

  • this is the only artist (at least for me) who's better singing live!

    <3

  • @Beernyyy Jason Mraz?? Just My opinion...Jason and Johny all day!!

  • whos playin drums on this?

  • @msode21 JJ Johnson

  • i cant find another like her... :-(

  • @alliyah78 same.

  • when john started soloing i was on another tab and instantly recognized him, he's one of those guys that you always KNOW it's him....AWESOME VIDEO

  • this song saved my life

    thank you john

  • best tags on any of your videos.

  • lol...claymation

  • This guy has Got it!

  • california raisins claymation? lol, NICE

  • this is my favorite song off of that album =)

  • I heard you really like to gossip, which is why nobody likes you.

  • wtf?

  • I honestly cannot believe I just read that. I do hope I'm being trolled on this one...

  • psh, you aren't full of crap or anything...

(sarcasm, you are indeed full of crap.)

  • bahah, Im giving you a thumbs up cuz youre hillarious.

  • Have you seen One Song, One Day... when he recorded In Repair?

  • that one was soo sick..wow inspiration right there

  • raisins.

  • finally a live version without the 3000 screaming girls who drown out the sound of his music.

  • lol, i thought the SAME THING after i hesitantly clicked on this and saw it was just a rehearsal. BEING at the concert is one thing, but if i'm just watching live performances online, the screaming can get hella annoying. i don't even do that AT concerts. not during the song anyway.

  • damn, that's so true !

  • Great! Love this song

    love ya john,

    someone new

  • i love this song...my theme to my past love..mayer rocks!!!

  • Beautiful song, he is so talented x

  • Yeahhh mayer, no crowds. (specifically for my benefit.) underrated post in my opinion

  • Ahhhhh, when are you coming back to Toronto?!? <3

  • Ahhh, now I really want to see him play live.

  • is he singing about a dog or a girl?

  • what kind of question is that??

Its obviously a girl, damn man.

  • the lyrics: when I was a boy no one else would do or when I was eleven no one else, live or studio. he was in love with a girl at 11? Then, shell take your sweaters, youll take your time If she will take the sweaters then who is he talking about? In the video, Where the light is there is a scene with him in a car. There is a very little dog sitting in his lap, the kind that would wear a sweater.

    Your thoughts?

  • Nah man you see its "when i was your lover no one else would do."

And the whole last verse is directed at a girl, watch..."so go on baby

    make your little get away

my pride will keep me company

and you just gave yours all away

now i'm gonna dress myself for two

once for me and once for someone new

i'm gonna do somethings you wouldn't let me do

oh i'm gonna find another you"

    ya dig??

  • he mean's as in when you're in a relationship, the girl borrows your clothes.. like sweaters and hoodies..

and the lyrics are when i was your LOVER, not eleven

  • I came to the concert to hear John not 7,000 chicks do shitty karaoke. He knows we like him, we paid money to see/hear him.

REAL FANS DON'T SHOUT IN THE MIDDLE - JUST THE BEGINNING & THE END

  • homygod robbie mcintosh at 2:46

  • OMG! I Love This SONG!!!! Im Someone New (aka)LOL!!!!!!!

  • This is one of my favorite songs on the album I love it to pieces, and Of course John as well.

  • Great performance.

As for all the SRV comparisons and stuff I feel like a dead horse is being beat into a pulp. Of course there are going to be influences in his music and SRV is probably one of them. SRV was influenced by other blues players and I'm sure he sounded like them too. So really there is nothing original because someone most likely has already done it or is doing it now.

Its about how it makes you feel.

  • Agreed, Stevie Ray Vaughan constantly cited Albert King as an influence, and in his playing you can always hear Albert licks.

    ALWAYS.

  • "so go on baby, make your little getaway"

oh man. i love that line.

  • Is this sound check before the concert? nice video! :D

  • To see something this good live without that girl screaming "WOOOOO" in my ear is so pure it's almost holy.

  • Agreed

  • Third'd.

  • Do you hear that???...EXACTLY! sssuuuuhhhsss :)

  • yes

    thanks for the peaceful surroundings

  • dude ! this is awesome!

  • i love this song

  • yay!!! no screaming girls!!!^_^

  • I know what you mean! it's so nice and peaceful.

  • I kinda got used to the screaming girls...it is almost on his music...

this is gotta be a rehearsal

    ..awesome song!

  • Manchester Academy in June! its only taken 6 years in waiting.

  • I don't know if you ever get a chance to read these, John, but i was curious how you Liked having the horn section? Is Brad Mason doin well? His brother Elliot is an ammmmaaaaaazing jazz musician. Thanks for your music, John.

  • God i luv you John Mayer !

  • i love the tags that he chose for this. raisons & claymation. one of the many reasons that i love JM.

  • john mayer is the best he is so awesome!

  • I really like that slide part from one of John's back ups

  • Oh yes and I'm adding one more thing...this is awesome, no screaming crazies between every interlude...

  • John...please grow your hair back long...I loved it like that :D

    Thanks J

  • Couldn't sound better....seriously

  • has a ray charles feel to it with bb also

  • if really lissen to it and know he is inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughn it sounds kind of like that

  • but not as good b/c he was one of the best to pick up a guitar

  • of course Stevie is his hero.. that has been apparent from John's first album.

  • So I am a huge peter green fan, but this song is legit all in its own, even if he steals a few licks from greenie. You cant properly play blues without playing homage to your forebears, and since eh does a damn fine job of it, no worries. Not to mention that Greenie didnt write it...

  • fantastic song. one of his bests.

i reallllllly hope when he tours again, he comes to London, Ontario.

  • absolute bliss.

    thanks

    :)

  • its nice to hear it like that sometimes without the hellish crowd.

  • John mayer is my love....Check me out singing this song.

  • Love this song. Great clip.

  • beautiful.

  • nice

  • CALIFORNIA RASINS!!!

    Dude, I love you.

  • again, love your tags!! california raisins =]

  • i'm gonna sing my way away from blues.

    i'm gonna find another you.

    brilliant.

  • Just from this video, it's obvious that they're ready for the show. Except, the sound guy needed to turn up the vocal just a bit more, but damn, what seemless guitar work by all three guys. When they took solos, the guys in the background wove flawless, understated licks that just made it total ear candy. Great job, guys.

  • god i love this man.

  • lmao "california raisins claymation"

    You are the man!!

  • your amazing.

  • Now I know this is totally irrelevant to this video. But, this question is for John. Were you at a Dave Matthews concert in Illinois at the Allstate Arena probably 5 or 6 years ago. Because, I swear, you were sitting behind me. And it has been bothering me for so long. Ohkay, sorry for the complete randomness. But, Yes, John, you are AMAZINGGG!

  • ok, johnny boy. random question, but what type of shoes were you wearing @ the Roanoke Civic Center concert 2/7/2007? They were green and white checkered skater sneakers. we wanna know so we can buy. thanks.

  • john's voice is heavenely. the end.

  • ok you don't like john mayer and you like pete green, good for you.

  • Folks: John Mayer is the living continuation of the late Stevie Ray, and anybody who can't hear it isn't listening; yes, it has been done before, but better?? Hardly. John plays in the Jimi/Stevie vein of things because those guys wrote and played some of the most structurally and aurally perfect tunes ever recorded, and John's album Continuum is proof.

Wait ten years, then see if you can still call him unoriginal.

  • I agree, in this age of "sampling" and having others write your music and lyrics for nothing other than a performer, this is about as original as it gets.

Gotta keep things in a historical perspective.

  • the guy has chops no doubt but i think people may call him unoriginal because he is more of a living imitation of many blues greats.

  • John i love you. anyone who does not think john is incredibly talented can go jump off a god damn bridge. simply amazing..

  • shut up bitch ..john mayer rules!!

  • love the song!

  • um...not really, green is awsome i know, i love his work, especially "need your love so bad". but u really dont know what the fuck ur talking about, do u even play? dont anwser, cuz even if u play, u more than likely lick nuts. go bash fergie or something worth downing.

  • This is a rip off of 'need your love so bad' by fleetwood mac. Wanker can't stand up to peter green. Not that you chicks have a clue who that is.

  • bitch.

  • it's the blues, man. you're allowed to reuse chord progressions, and at least john came up with his own bridge and coda. fleetwood mac wasn't being completely original with 'need your love so bad' either, but once again it doesn't matter, it's the blues. anyone can play it with their own feeling and meaning.

  • yeah, you definetly like dudes and you probably cant even play guitar..and i guarentee john mayer is 4x times better than peter green at songwriting, singing, and guitar playing..and youre a fucking rip off..go fuck yourself..

  • It's too bad this comment wasn't better received, because it's probably true...

  • Cmon who said girls can't know who those people are?

  • yeah, who says? he's my favorite

  • There's no need to be such a douche about it. Most of us watching this video actually ENJOYED it. You didn't. Quit trying to bring the rest of us down.

Also, I happen to be a guy who likes Fleetwood Mac, along with many universally respectable artists like Clapton, SRV, Jimi, and the like, and I think John Mayer is one of the best musicians of this younger generation.

  • Not to confuse the issue with facts, but niether Peter green nor Fleetwood as a whole wrote need you love so bad, that shit is by little willie john. And if you can name a guitarist since the 30's who hasnt stolen a few licks, ill give you a shiny penny. Douchebag.

  • you wish!! think people who say john is shit are so jealous of his talent!! john you are great babe!!

  • OHH GOD I LOVE THAT SONG!! its just sooo john!!so perfect!! love your voicee babyy!!! i hope you can come to mexicoo somedayy!!that's the only way i can see you!!and i really want to!! hope you read this john!!

  • you guys are lameeeeee.

    john mayer is the shit;

    in simple terms.

    Done.

  • Theres an old saying

"Why listen to a band who sound like the beatles, when you can just listen to the beatles."

Sorry man, its been done and done better.

  • Why listen to anything that sounds like something else when you can listen to that other thing? Everything sounds like something else. It's all been done before... so why do you listen to anything at all? According to you we should only listen to the first piece of music that was ever played...

  • I would say that if a style has been done before and done better then I'm probably not going to go out of my way to listen to an immitation. I happen to like a lot of different artists and genres of music so yeh if something sounds remarkably similar to a half dozen tracks I've heard before I'm not going to waste my money on it no.

  • Everything sounds like something else? If that were true the concept of genres wouldn't exist. There will always be those artists who did it first or like no other, and there will always be those tracks that could only ever be made by one band or artist. This track is not one of those select few.

  • The beatles? Dude, this is nothing like the poppy beatles my friend.

In the event you feel it is, this is still great music by a great musician. Why do people feel the need to bring others down to keep their "faves" up? If the beatles in your mind are great by bringing Mayer down...

maybe the beatles aint that great.

That being said, I like both, but honestly cannot stand 1/2 of the beatles music. Its all pop.

  • The beatles are great :)

    mayer too

and listen to evolution, helter skelter, and your bird can sing, I want you...

    The beatles rock!

  • im not saying your wrong, i just want to know who you think this sounds like

  • John . You blow me away . I was at the 1.29.07 concert and you are the best . Your voice is beautiful . Fk all the haters they r just jealous.

  • i've been listen to you since 99', and you're getting better at every record i heard. keep going with the good job, Mr. Mayer.

    JQ

  • I think those California Raisins might just have you guys beat. Just keep practicing and you might catch up...

  • To John -- an "old soul" with so much zest for life. For me, you are the poet who rocks ... and, I just can't get enough! (as spoken by the great depeche mode). What else can I say, your music EXHILARATES me!

  • I wish he would have played this song when I saw him on the first show of this tour. He didn't play this or stop this train or heart of life, which I was hoping he would play most. He played a lot of stuff from his other albums but it was still an awesome show

  • Great player, great singer, great artist ! Thanks for being so natural and open minded John. Your attitude is awesome. Hi from France.

Thanks for sharing it on your blog John.

  • Eeek, I'm typing and I'm asleep...one of my favorite songs on the Continuum CD (ooops.)

  • Except this song isn't on Try! It's on Continuum.

  • Very cool to see this kinda stuff. Gives me something to look forward to. I'll be at the Columbia, SC show in early Feb.

  • Honey, look up to the next comment I made direct after. I corrected myself just seconds later...gah.

  • raisins and claymation...that's a little weird, no?

  • The more I listen to this song, the more I love it. I am completely in awe of the music. It's more moving then I've ever experienced. Thank you for putting everything you've got into the writing and the playing. My life has been blessed with where your music takes me, everyday. Barbara

  • I love your timing John... Just when everything gets away from "it's only music now," you remind me why I love your music & you so much. Thanks for the subtle reminders here & there. Can't wait to see you on 2/18. Have a blast tonight! BTW,no matter what comments I've heard about you lately, I've ended the conversation w/"But boy can he play guitar!" We're still keeping the mob away John. Stay where the light is, or get there quick haha. ;)
