wow that was good if you have to pay for friends you really don't need them. my grandfather always say he have to two friends the good lord and his national bank
Hey man, I really like this video. And hearing about this is something that's going to get lots of people pissed when they're finding ways through with MUCH less money. Thing is, many of these athletes grow up broke, that's no secret. But when there is so much money presented to them and you feel a debt to all those people that were close to you before.......there seems to be an obligation to help out. It gets to a point where you feel invincible and the money would never run out.
his nba career was pretty much silimar to how his financial status went. a really good player at first, but fell the fuck off, because he decided to jacvk up waaay too many unnecessary three pointers instead of playing team baskettball.
Thanks. This was the video that a lot of folks got upset about. Normally I would not say anything negative about someone going broke. It happens to the best of us. But I just cannot fathom wasting One hundred and ten MILLION! Do you know how many businesses in the community could have been opened with that money? Not to mention how many people could have paid tuition for college. What a waste....
@JunebugObama Excellent VIDEO!!! I'll be waiting for the next one on IVERSON and the rest of this ERA OF STUPID BALLERS. Teach the YOUNG BOYS coming up now to DO IT THE RIGHT WAY!!!!
@vaughnvdg Yes, that's usually how they get into debt. Trying to impress these women. The rappers are especially guilty of this. They have ONE hit record and they think the money will keep coming in to support their lifestyle. Nobody stays on top forever....you have to save some of that money.
@JunebugObama Good video!!! Will see more on this era(say the past 10 years) of BALLAZ. I see IVERSON coming up next. Bunch of FOOLISH DUDES who SPENT JUST TO SPEND.
It's called spending more money than you are ACTUALLY bringing it. Like you JBO, I'm also having a hard time feeling sorry for Antoine Walker. There are way too many previous examples who burned through all their money. I.e. MC Hammer
I just can't understand it, myself. I can understand AND feel sorry for the average Joe with a 9 to 5 losing his money or going broke, but people who make millions??? They should easily be able to save for a rainy day.
@JunebugObama Yeah i hate hearing about these guys infact i hate these guys don't graduate from college and take little to no classes and shoot basketballs for 6-8 hours a day and get passed through class i just now graduated from college and im trying to get into a masters program and i don't even know if im going to get the loan for it i can't stand these dudes they make 3-10 million dollars a year in their first job to shoot basketball my first job paid 500 each week nice post JBO
@Alta626 With all the money some of these celebrities waste, they could set up some type of scholarship fund and send someone like you through school. Instead many of them burn the money up for nothing.
@JunebugObama i mean im not the one to ask for handouts either way thought that sounds nice i hate asking for things from people especially people i don't know i understand it can happen to anyone i just can't fathom that type of money down the drain but when i think about it after taxes that money is cut in half and then the light and house bills, cars, clothes. food etc and in his case the other 10 bums who do nothing but spend his money, with all those things i guess so
it's called living below your means. walker should have put 80% of his money in a conservative instrument that yielded at least 6% per year. lets say he had 30 mil liquid after all expenses. 30 mil x 6%=1.8 mil per year. if you can't live on 1.8 mil per year...god bless you.
this video never gets old im telling all my friends to subscribe to you this is dead on the violin part is just the best and the part were u said kiss my rolex watch wearing ass and get a job that was awesome dead on man awesome
I wonder if any of the current NBA superstars are paying attention to Antoine Walker's demise. Too much emphasis on 'bling bling' and supporting the leeches and supposed 'friends'.
Antoine is an idiot. Michael Jordan has a lifetime contract with Nike. Michael made $40 million last year 5 years out removed from retirement. People will be buying Jordans, Hanes, Gatordade, and Jordan jerseys for a lifetime. Also Nike gave the Jordan Brand, which means even people buy Carmelos shoes, Chris Pauls, or Dwayne Wades, guess who get a piece of the pie. Ding, MJ. Michael is a business man. As a matter of fact, he is also part owner of a basketball team.
Excellent point @ 7:03 Junebug! Maybe Antoine Walker should've slapped down a few bucks for therapy sessions early on to help him overcome that. Would've been ALOT cheaper than $110 million!
Cosign everything you said! It's not just getting the money - it's KEEPING it! I would think that people who ever intend to be wealthy one day would learn how to maintain wealth BEFORE they get it so that they won't lose the wealth when they get it!
I'll bet Antoine tried to "save" his poor family & friends. For all of the money Antoine gave them, they're probably *still* broke today! People with poverty mentality will remain poor - no matter how much money is given to them.
When I heard about this I just shook my head. Making the money is not enough; you have to know how to manage it. Nicholas Cage is allegedly now in the same boat. I guess MC Hammer got some company in the Damn Fool Hall of Shame.
Junebug this is as real commentary as you ever done. You are right about Antoine but everyday people make ignorant decisions too with fancy weddings, large homes, and so on. Few people save, invest because of the keep up with the Joneses mentality. Few shows cater to help us with saving, retirement like Michelle Singletary but it's all about greed like MTV Cribs, Lifetyles on VH1
Good vid! You know all of these guys are blinded by their own fantasy world. They think "keeping it real" means keeping it stupid. One thing they never learned was how to be independent. How to think for themselves? Walker wasting all that money is a lot like these other stars who get caught up in gun charges, dog fights and other things. I mean, you are making all of that money and you want to blow it all for what?
He let the money define who he was as a person & that was his downfall.
I got an extended family too, but best believe if I cake up on some serious money, it's being spent wisely. The most I'd do for them is clean their credit, or put them thru college. After that, they're on their own! Don't come to me with ya hand out if you're not bringing something to the table! And I bet not a single person in his inner circle warned him about his ignorant spending.
Yeah the problem is people don't have a perspective on how much 110 million dollars is. People hear million and think they are mega wealthy, but in reality making a million, or even 10 million isn't really that much in todays society. People who have 10 million dollars today are still working 50 plus hours a week to maintain their wealth.
entertainers, especially black ones, are just hoes...the real money is made by the owners of the companies and organizations...advertising is the real money in sports
I saw that man play, live...when he use to play for the Celtics, i was seated close to the court: he seemed like a cool guy, but got ejected that game.
Please correct me if i'm wrong, but black people out of all people in America: we spend our money on the wrong things, more so than any other ethnic group in America.
O yeah, what about Evander Holyfield who bought one of the biggest mansions in America and ended up broke too. His story was just as messed up as Antoine Walker's.
I've learn alot from you and people like you money shouldn't buy love love should buy love and if it doesn't then their wasn't any love to begin with when I do become rich I'll be a cheap baller and lie and say I'm bankrupt to see who stays my friends cause dave chappell was rich
I'll distance my self from every one cause even now I don't use phone all I call is close family why did he make it known he was rich he should have lied and said I gambled it away
wow. this sound like "Antoine Walker This is Your Life." people please don't buy into this lifestyle of chasing money, buying useless things, and the get rich & or die trying mentality.
to whoever wins pball this weekend take my advice:
if your not doing the annuity take ten million of the lump sum and place it in tax free municipal bonds. then of the six left put a million in a money market account at %9 interest. after taxes that comes to $90k a year. ANYONE can live on that!
I don't even almost feel sorry for this dumb ass nigga. If you have a choice between a WATCH that cost $150 or $15,000 & you choose the latter then that's yo retarted ass decision...
A nigga like me? if you give me $50,000 one time (not even yearly) I'm basically rich. I guarantee that Imma make that money triple or even quadruple...
Fuck that stupid muthafucka... I have absolutely NO REMORSE for his silly ass.
I usually enjoy your videos but I dont agree with this topic. I believe that the way a man spends his money is his business unless he is asking you for money which I doubt he has. Respectfully I feel that you and others can easily say what you would have done with the money but you have to be in this guy's shoes and you don't know the whole story, only what youve heard. I heard that he funded many charities and camps but it's all third party info.
I appreciate you and thank you for your comments. What he does with his money is his business until he wrote the bad checks and went bankrupt and made NATIONAL HEADLINES in all the newspapers and television broadcasts.
If a story is reported in the mainstream and if everyone already knows about it and has access to it, I feel it's fair game for me to discuss this on my channel just like any other news story. A part of my channel is to analyze and critique human behavior including celebrities.
I agree that you have a right to analyze and critique. I just don't agree with the bashing and calling names (stupid). The mainstream media is notorious for it's half truths and agenda. The agenda- blacks can't handle money.. I feel that this man is entitled to his privacy, this has nothing to do with basketball and i feel that it has been reported just to further their agenda.
I don't think there is a human being on the planet (myself included) who has not done something stupid in their life. In my opinion, stupid is the appropriate word to describe wasting that much money and writing hundreds of thousands of dollars of bad checks (which is a felony) after you run out of money.
As far as wasting money goes, it's not just a black thing. Ed McMahon, whom I mention in the beginning of the video, did the same thing with his wealth and it was in all the headlines.
Good point about Ed McMahon, but I bet this will get more publicity. I'm kind of sensitive bc a relative of mine got 2.1 million dollars for a settlement and he's not broke but he has nothing to show for it. So many people criticize him but they don't know that he had 1.5 million in doctor bills bc of the accident and after taxes he came out negative. So you can never tell unless you know the whole story. Good videos, my wife and I always enjoy them! Peace.
Your relative DOES have something to show for his settlement: he's not in debt.
Do you know how many Americans right now would KILL to be out of debt? Debt is slavery!
So even if he wasn't able to buy any of the trappings that most people would have wasted $2 million on, he can be at peace knowing that his medical bills are paid in full (look at the health care debates going on right now because millions can't afford insurance) & no tax bills (won't EVEN get started on this one!)
Understood. It just hurt my heart to hear rumors of him spending it all on crack (he's a born again Christian and doesn't drink or smoke). But your right he's in a great place financially and he gained his health back.
Try not to feel bad about it. :-) Chances are those folks were envious about him having those millions & wanted to believe that he wasted them. You know how some people are...
I actually did do a critical video series on Tyler Perry and how other black filmmakers like Spike Lee feel about his films. That was back in February. Some of my long time subscribers will tell you about it. I have since deleted it for various reasons. Tyler is like Jesus to some of his fans (but not all of them).
thats too bad that you took the series down im sure it was really good. i guess you are right. but i really feel like spike lee made a good point. maybe one day u will reconsider and re-post :)
MyaMe2009, I think it was the best commentary I have done on this channel. It was 4 parts long and it's based partially on my own experience, since I worked in theater and knew him before he became famous.
forget those people some dont like to hear the truth or be open to opposing opinions. i really want u to repost now hearing that but it is ur channel and do what u think is best. i will enjoy any video u put out
I am sure myself and some of your new subsrcibers would love to see your video on tyler perry and his foolishness. but I can't balme you for taking ti down because I know his fans are really crazy and hate for people to call him out.
rosey10880, They got pissed as hell!!!! LOL! Even though I balanced it and talked about the positive aspects and praised him for his success, they still couldn't handle the criticism.
As for Tyler Perry. Look at the formula he has for making money in his films. He writes, produces, stars, and directs them. The most expensive movie he had cost $20 million. That movie made $42 million. Do the math everyone. That was the worst one at $42 million. Every other one cost at most $13 million and made at least $50 million.
The sad thing is that there are plenty of cautionary tales out there about players who squandered their riches. I think all the pro leagues have rookie seminars to head off this kind of situation. But with the mentality that some of us young folk have we are certain to see more stories like this. We have to go stop placing so much emphasis on material are start pushing for true financial power. We rush out and buy stuff that lose value the minute we touch it.
@Mhendeb that's how it is in this bullshit amerikkkan culture nobody loves you when your down but when you come up they come around that's why if i get rich i'm leaving fuck amerikkka
Oh sorry what I meant was the Obama tag. Not insulting you but the politician Obama. Tag meaning name tag. I don't like politicians at all. I am not left or right so I am not taking sides. I know they all work together to bring us down as far as we will go without rebelling. I was just wondering if you had realized Obama was just like the rest yet because your video talked about the economy being a mess.
Dont these extremely rich and wealthy people have some type of financial advisors in their lives?
If these people put as little as 10% of there income into a nest egg that grows on its own every year and never touch it they can still afford to live there extravagant life styles without worries. How is it they never know this?
Just think about what that $110 million could have done for black businesses. He could have used that money to open up some businesses in black communities and put folks to work.
He also could have used some of it to help some people with start up capital to open up their own business. It just seems like a waste to me.
$110m is alot of money him blowing it on stupid stuff just puts that money back into circulation and comes back to the people eventually however would of been good for him to keep a few million for himself
In my opinion once you get a certain amount of wealth I think it is ok to buy nice things like bentleys and expensive jewelry. And we got to be honest his cars, clothes, and jewelry are not what broke him down. It was the gambling and the moochers.
I agree...nothing wrong with upgrading your lifestyle, but upgrading the lifestyles of 70 other people who are able bodied and can earn money on their own will drain you every time.
I had a job sense the age of 14, I put my money up sense then (for retirement or rainy day's). I believe people like rich people should understand the people you see going up, is the same folks you see going down lol
I agree I do not understand why these ballers give them these super expenisve homes and cars, jewelry just junk. i am sure his mother would have been just please with a 3/2 ranch house. But what really did him in was supporting his friends.
For the record I did not say that jewelry was junk I just say if you can not afford it then don't buy it. And I don't see why he had to buy his momma expensive jewelry when costume jewelry is just as good.

If a story is reported in the mainstream and if everyone already knows about it and has access to it, I feel it's fair game for me to discuss this on my channel just like any other news story. A part of my channel is to analyze and critique human behavior including celebrities.
JunebugObama 2 years ago
I agree that you have a right to analyze and critique. I just don't agree with the bashing and calling names (stupid). The mainstream media is notorious for it's half truths and agenda. The agenda- blacks can't handle money.. I feel that this man is entitled to his privacy, this has nothing to do with basketball and i feel that it has been reported just to further their agenda.
mrmonnet 2 years ago
I don't think there is a human being on the planet (myself included) who has not done something stupid in their life. In my opinion, stupid is the appropriate word to describe wasting that much money and writing hundreds of thousands of dollars of bad checks (which is a felony) after you run out of money.
As far as wasting money goes, it's not just a black thing. Ed McMahon, whom I mention in the beginning of the video, did the same thing with his wealth and it was in all the headlines.
JunebugObama 2 years ago
Good point about Ed McMahon, but I bet this will get more publicity. I'm kind of sensitive bc a relative of mine got 2.1 million dollars for a settlement and he's not broke but he has nothing to show for it. So many people criticize him but they don't know that he had 1.5 million in doctor bills bc of the accident and after taxes he came out negative. So you can never tell unless you know the whole story. Good videos, my wife and I always enjoy them! Peace.
mrmonnet 2 years ago
Your relative DOES have something to show for his settlement: he's not in debt.
Do you know how many Americans right now would KILL to be out of debt? Debt is slavery!
So even if he wasn't able to buy any of the trappings that most people would have wasted $2 million on, he can be at peace knowing that his medical bills are paid in full (look at the health care debates going on right now because millions can't afford insurance) & no tax bills (won't EVEN get started on this one!)
ANewDay2007 2 years ago
Understood. It just hurt my heart to hear rumors of him spending it all on crack (he's a born again Christian and doesn't drink or smoke). But your right he's in a great place financially and he gained his health back.
mrmonnet 2 years ago
Try not to feel bad about it. :-) Chances are those folks were envious about him having those millions & wanted to believe that he wasted them. You know how some people are...

its really a hundred fourteen million. he's a dum ass

oh u should discuss the contreversy on tyler perry movies and spike lee. i would LOVE to get ur take on that
MyaMe2009 2 years ago
I actually did do a critical video series on Tyler Perry and how other black filmmakers like Spike Lee feel about his films. That was back in February. Some of my long time subscribers will tell you about it. I have since deleted it for various reasons. Tyler is like Jesus to some of his fans (but not all of them).
JunebugObama 2 years ago
thats too bad that you took the series down im sure it was really good. i guess you are right. but i really feel like spike lee made a good point. maybe one day u will reconsider and re-post :)
MyaMe2009 2 years ago
MyaMe2009, I think it was the best commentary I have done on this channel. It was 4 parts long and it's based partially on my own experience, since I worked in theater and knew him before he became famous.
JunebugObama 2 years ago
forget those people some dont like to hear the truth or be open to opposing opinions. i really want u to repost now hearing that but it is ur channel and do what u think is best. i will enjoy any video u put out
MyaMe2009 2 years ago
I am sure myself and some of your new subsrcibers would love to see your video on tyler perry and his foolishness. but I can't balme you for taking ti down because I know his fans are really crazy and hate for people to call him out.
rosey10880 2 years ago
rosey10880, They got pissed as hell!!!! LOL! Even though I balanced it and talked about the positive aspects and praised him for his success, they still couldn't handle the criticism.
JunebugObama 2 years ago
Not to but in, but I missed a Tyler Perry bashing? Shoot! Repost it Junebug! Forget the haters!
roadlesswandering 2 years ago
I didn't catch your Tyler Perry series. Whats up with him JuneBug? You can just leave your reply in my personal inbox if you want.
johneblaze82 2 years ago
As for Tyler Perry. Look at the formula he has for making money in his films. He writes, produces, stars, and directs them. The most expensive movie he had cost $20 million. That movie made $42 million. Do the math everyone. That was the worst one at $42 million. Every other one cost at most $13 million and made at least $50 million.

Lastly I agree with Junebug, theres nothing wrong with living good and treating yourself. BUT mind your money. Know the limitations.
bkstyle82 2 years ago
The sad thing is that there are plenty of cautionary tales out there about players who squandered their riches. I think all the pro leagues have rookie seminars to head off this kind of situation. But with the mentality that some of us young folk have we are certain to see more stories like this. We have to go stop placing so much emphasis on material are start pushing for true financial power. We rush out and buy stuff that lose value the minute we touch it.
bkstyle82 2 years ago
He had to be sick mentally to spend that money away like that. just crazy!!

Completely off subject... what are your thoughts on Monique...keeping it "real" or cooning? I think that would make a great discussion

I haven't seen her show yet, but it would make a great topic.

Dont these extremely rich and wealthy people have some type of financial advisors in their lives?
If these people put as little as 10% of there income into a nest egg that grows on its own every year and never touch it they can still afford to live there extravagant life styles without worries. How is it they never know this?

Well put Junebug...good to hear from ya again

CO-SIGN 1,000 PERCENT your points with respect to "generational wealth" and "real friends"
marcdaddy33 2 years ago
Just think about what that $110 million could have done for black businesses. He could have used that money to open up some businesses in black communities and put folks to work.
He also could have used some of it to help some people with start up capital to open up their own business. It just seems like a waste to me.

HEY, JUNEBUGOBAMA, My friend saw antione walker at a cheesesteak store pulling up in a limo, in philly and a championship ring on his finger.

Very true man, he could have gave to people of illnesses in his community or built a hospital for people that have trouble getting medicine.

$110m is alot of money him blowing it on stupid stuff just puts that money back into circulation and comes back to the people eventually however would of been good for him to keep a few million for himself

read a story today as well about a former basketball player who made $2 million in the NBA and is now homeless in Orlando.
marcdaddy33 2 years ago
In my opinion once you get a certain amount of wealth I think it is ok to buy nice things like bentleys and expensive jewelry. And we got to be honest his cars, clothes, and jewelry are not what broke him down. It was the gambling and the moochers.
rosey10880 2 years ago 3
I agree...nothing wrong with upgrading your lifestyle, but upgrading the lifestyles of 70 other people who are able bodied and can earn money on their own will drain you every time.

well said, rosey.

But what really did him in was supporting his friends.
rosey10880 2 years ago 2
I agree jewelry is junk,it serves no real purpose.
Accune 2 years ago
For the record I did not say that jewelry was junk I just say if you can not afford it then don't buy it. And I don't see why he had to buy his momma expensive jewelry when costume jewelry is just as good.
