  • Hi~ what are the music from starting to 0:50? they're awesome, really luv'em with the clip :)

  • @PixelOrgy Hi this is the girl who made the video [my other account] I'm pretty sure the last song was Taking Back Sunday, but I can't remember the name of the song... it could be Dancing on the Inside, but I'm not entirely sure! Sorry I can't remember! probably should have written it down :P

  • @DecemberFallsSeries haha thats ok :) thx alot for replying!

  • so u gotta change the name of the video!! this isn't DV8, so u can't call it DV8!!

  • Interesting. When I saw the C.Romance video last year, I instantly thought 'DV8'. Not knowing anything about DV8's influential impact until now. Do you have a link to that PHD, please?

  • I'll have a look for you, or drop her an email and see if I can ask for it. Just to make it clear, she did not mention My Chemical Romance in her PHD! That was just my interpretation :)

  • Okay. I've re-read everything once more including comments very carefully. It would be a lovely subject to read if I am invited to read. Thank you, kindly.

  • @Luvzi12 PLEASEEEE!!!!! name of the first song u used (the piano song before the evanescence's) ??? please i'd been looking for it for ages!!! o.o

  • i did a dv8 style play on the problems teenagers faced, we went freom homosexuality to body issues in girls, it was amazing, we were the only group this year to get more than 1 person have top makrs in our course :D we had guys in rubgy costumes doing a nutcracker spoof... thought it showed masculinity pretty well :D

  • Yeah DV8 is pretty awesome! & your performance sounds great with the rugby guys & the nutcracker!

It reminds me of these pictures (the photographer's name escapes me) of these "hoodies" all posing in effeminate ways, even though they were all criminals and such. Very emotionally provoking.

  • Wow this is amazing! :D I never saw this before. I love it :) so you actually like made that? omgg. you're so talented. (L) xx

  • Please Reply To Me If You Know

  • Yes I'm not sure the Helena video encapsulates exactly what physical theatre is. To me, Helena is dancing out her emotions. Similarly, physical theatre is used to represent words and to tell a story through physical acts. If you watch some of Lloyd Newson's work you will see this in action :)

  • @Luvzi12 this is rly hardly comparable to physical theatre, this is dance which is different.

  • I agree in some respects, but I do think there are some similarities in her movements. I suppose this is more of what can be called "contemporary dance" rather than physical theatre, but I was only just learning about DV8 when I posted this, so I did get confused. Overall, I only posted this for the music that I put together that we used for our performance and youtube needed a video to go with it and I chose this

  • Im Sorry Bout This My Homework Is To Find Out What Physical Theatre Is --> Is The Helena Video Physical Theatre And Is It When Someone Tells A Story Through Dance And Drama But Dont Talk ??? PLEASE HELP X

  • This video isnt hugely physical theatre but it has some aspects... its more dance

physical theatre just means it uses movement to show emotion and reactions.

so instead of a person trying to push someone, they cna have a fluid movement piece that can include many pushes and pulls and lifts and so on to do just one small thing. this usually involves physical contact although not always.

  • Thanks :). Me and a few people from my class are working on a piece and showed them this video and they wanted to try to do some of the dance moves from the Helena video..

  • Wow you must be pretty good then! I did my DV8 play about bullying and it involved lots of throwing about of balls and things haha! It was so much fun =D That was like 3 years ago now tho :P

  • we are learing about DV8 and it never crossed my mind that this could have something to do with it but no looking at again I've realised that the movements throughout this song by the dancers and tracy philips has alot to do with phyiscal theatre. So thanks for putting this up, I'll be sure to pass this on to my tutor.

  • Awesome! Good luck with your studies!

  • if, as you say it has nothing to do with DV8 (or very little), you may consider removing the word tag?

  • No, because if my friends want to see this and remember what WE did while studying DV8, that is what they will search!

  • What a trip

  • Thanks for the info! I may watch it in future, I did enjoy DV8. Lloyd Newson is incredibly talented, as are all the dancers involved!

  • I don't wish to go in this direction anymore. I'm at uni at the moment and I don't think performing is a route I will take. I see what you mean about Vaudeville, but take that up with My Chemical Romance because all I did was cut the dance and put it to this music. I did not choregraph or star in I'm afraid, as stated in the info. Our performance was nothing like the ballerina and we didn't even use this music in the end, but I won't remove it due to the memories it gives me.

  • This video has nothing to do with DV8 Physical Theatre. The comment below when someone says "Is this DV8 the physical dance company in London?" and the response is "sort of" is rubbish. This is some amateur choreographer trading off on a professional company's name. Own up to the truth!

  • Actually my answer of "sort of" is because although the visual part of the video is not DV8, the music we used is from a performance that my theatre group did BASED on DV8 and my teacher actually worked for DV8 and I have actually met Lloyd Newson, so if you want a debate as to who is ripping off who then I am up for it.

And for the record, I am not a choreographer, nor am I amateur,I am a performer with an equity card and a fairly impressive resume. Can you say the same?

  • @Luvzi12 BWAHH HA HA HA!!! The internet is full of jumped up little tits, but fucking hell... YOU ARE FUNNY!!!

  • ReinerTorheit

    you low life rat

go back to Russia to eat ice!

    Russia hands off Georgia !

  • Urrrmm... I dno't get it...

  • thats a bit odd to me lolx did dv8 do the dance to helena

  • No, my performing arts class had to study DV8 the physical theatre company, and we needed music for the performance and this was the music we used. I just put it to the Helena video because I like it! =P

  • ok thanks i get in now :D

  • it was a awsome piece. if you ever have the chance to smooth out the transitions of the 3 songs it would make it even better. The fist half i think was the most brilliant and could hold its own with the other 2 song pieces. nice job

  • Aww thanks! But I wouldn't be able to smooth the transitions now because I already deleted the video! I could do it to another video... but there's no point, btcause this piece was over two years ago. We did another one using 'Call me when you're sober' by Evanescence, so maybe I'll upload that one instead! Xxx

  • Is this DV8 the physical dance company in London?

  • Sort of.... the video was used for our performance that was devised and based on the physical theatre company DV8. I'm removing the video anyway, it made sense at the time, but not any more!

  • A far as I would say...definitely not!

  • What is the music, anyway?

  • I made it myself by cutting other music. The intro is 'Hushavye Mountain' from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the it moves into 'Once Upon a December' from Anastasia (Disney film) and then goes into 'Hello' by Evanescence. The end bit is (I think) 'Dancing on the Inside' by Taking Back Sunday... but dont take my word for it on the last one lol! It was ages ago since I made this haha! Oh, and the video is obv from the Helena video!
