back in highschool i found a MUCH EASIER way to do a lightsaber effect without going frame by frame:

all you have to do is cover the lightsaber in a keyable color like you would a green screen and key it out. underlay a white screen underneath your keyed out layer and blur the edges with a little color.

voila! simple lightsaber effect that saves alot of time and hassle!

glow based on: alpha colors

composite origin: on top

and choose the colors that you want

set the glow intensity to: 2,0

and the glow radius to: 82,0

Actually, phasers would just go through light sabers because Phasers disrupt the Atoms in somebody (or something). So blocking is useless.

@JakesHouseProduction no. unfortunately it only works on after effect and vegas (and afew othersbut i dont no their names). pinical dosent have layering, masking and frame by frame editing like the others do. its more of a composition thing than editor. what i do is use pinnacle to put all my vids together n then run it through ae.

Yes, but the Andrew Kramer presets look just like that... Presets. Everyone uses them, and they've been overused, try originality. After watching a few tutorials you should be able to know the tools and not need to use presets.

After Effects should cost you around $1000 depending on who and where you buy it... but if you're a bit computer savvy you can always download a cracked version to test out. But always buy the full version if you're gonna make a living out of it!
