  • I love HD videos

  • beautiful pic but not really a "how to paint"

  • I enjoyed the progression of your technique but I had trouble reading the red lettering. It seemed blurred and in the sequence that starts with Darkest values on silver and shadows are added frisket....I can't read the rest. I am new to watercolor and I really enjoy the paintings you have posted.

  • Wow! Only complaint is wanting to be able to do that myself and knowing I never will. :-)

  • Hi Lori- I love this painting! Beautiful. Beautiful. Beautiful!!!! When should I be expecting it?

  • First, I love the new intro.

Second, how did you lighten the background? I was under the impression that with watercolour, you can always go darker but never lighter. I also thought you're not supposed to use white.

  • Hi Elphyrafire, your comment is typically true, you can "lift out" using water over dried area and lift out with tissue, however, I did not do that here. I think I have to rewatch to see what your talking about, it may be that pigment that is wet is always darker than when dried. And it is frowned upon to use white paint in watercolor, which I did not do either? Are you speaking white of the paper or white paint?

  • @Elphyrafire There's no such thing as "can't" and "shouldn't" and "never" and "aren't supposed to" in art. Pretty sure that's the only hard and fast rule. Otherwise, just do what you want.

  • @pumkin54 True for some forms of art, but you have to admit that there are certain "rules" to follow if you're trying to get a certain result from your product, right?

  • Well, glory be! That is bodacious! How long has it been since you heard THAT word?

And what's this about you moving to Phoenix? What? I am missing a whole nuther story here, girl!

  • Uhm Actually Deb, I've used that word many a time, but have never heard anyone use it to express my art, nor my boobs for that matter, which is when I've used it. LOL But hey, I'll take what I can get. Thanks. :)

Yep, no more Sonoma :( Arizona.

  • When are you moving? Why? The fires caused too much trouble? Have I asked enough stupid questions? Maybe you have posted all this info someplace that I haven't seen...

  • Hi, just wanted to let you know how much I love your paintings. The realism just amazes me! Just a small problem with this video (and I think some others) I couldn't read the text for the instructions at all. Don't know if it's the font or the red colour but it's very hard to make out. Don't mean to sound critical, just a little frustrated when I can't read what you wrote :)

  • Nana - I LOVE YOUR channel name. LOve Love Love it! and yes your right, I chose a bad font, and actually need to get a good editor sftwr. Thanks for your comment, maybe I'll add to the comments to the right when I get some more time. :)

  • Thanks Amanda. Esp. coming from you. It's quite an old painting.

  • Heck no! My guests will just have to eat with their fingers!

  • LOL - Now THAT was funny.

  • Ah Rick, I can always count on you to pull through for me, your check is in the mail. :)

  • I will never look at silverware the same way again. This was cool!

  • LOL - Thanks Dean. :)

  • And the title? Is it wishful thinking on my part?

    xoxo

  • Nope it's not. Hey Laura, I LOVE YOU, did I tell you we are moving back to Phoenix? I'll try and call ya tonite, Lee's been gone forever, and I'm dieing here. LOL P.S. I did this painting a LONG LONG time ago, and the gallery owner took off with it. :(

  • Very interesting Lori, it is great to see this result with a limited pallette. But I found the red text quite hard to read at times (maybe just me??)

  • Yeah, the text chosen was not the best, I need to learn my adobe package. :(

  • I don't know how you do that.

  • But you do know I'm not 5'7?

  • Well, I imagine that you are 5'7".

  • I'm 6 ft. and my legs are long.

Okay if you believe that, then well......

  • Did I say 5'7"? I meant 6'7"....

  • Cool video and beautiful results!

  • Chris - Thanks so much for taking the time to comment and watch. My little Jello sista.

  • Excellent!

    Hugs~Nancy

  • Thanks Nancy. Hug and a smooch to you!

  • Very nice...do you initially use a projector for the drawing? I didn't used to, but I have for the past 3 or 4 years.

  • Thanks Chad - and Yes, well, I should say NO, it is not a projector per say, but similiar, I bought off of a website. But only if I am to go much much larger, it will only enlarge not shrink. I have been known to do the graph thing in the days before technology. Whew.. :) Although, If I don't sketch now and then I tend to lose perspective so thats what my journaling is for nowadays. :) Thanks for commenting.

  • that was really cool. rock on!

    mb

  • Thanks so much, goes to silppereal channel to do what he tells me to do. ROCK ON!

  • Wow Lori that is awesome! So real like I could reach out and touch it. I'm going to show this to my 16 yr. old, he's really into drawing and art! Thanks for showing this to all of us!

  • Hey Sue - Thanks for commenting, I'd show your son my others, this is probably a bit beginner if he's into art. :) See ya tomorrow eh? :)

  • Wow Lori, your talent totally awes me. They look real enough to eat with!!

    PS What's for dinner? ;-)

  • Carol - Thanks. I'm servin up something my friends tell me tastes like Pee Dirt Pie. ;)

  • Wow..Lori.

    That's Talent!!!

    thanks

  • Oh thanks Miestro man. :) Must get back to your channel and listen some more this weekend. :)

  • It's great to watch how you created this, Lori, and I love the notecard of it! I may have to keep it for myself and hang it in my dining room instead of mailing it to a loved one LOL

  • Annie - Thanks so much for your comments, glad you liked the cards. This one card was a big seller for me in the gallery, as most the women that frequented the gallery would host dinner parties, and they would use them as thank you cards or invitations. Maybe you could use it as a dinner fork if you don't want to do dishes.??

  • :-)

  • back at ya. thanks for taking the time to hit the smiley keys. :)

  • It's the least I could do. Haven't seen your smileys on my vids in a while.

    :(

  • Will try and get there, life is sooooo hectic, I'm there soon. I think. :)

    Thanks again.

  • looks good enough to eat...er...with :)

  • er as in???

  • When you say "value" to you mean adding more black to it?

  • No, it means more bang for the buck. :)

deeper colors and more glazes, after the initial steps are dry.

  • Firtht! Now I'll watch it :)

  • LOL - Now thats what I should do, I've always wanted to be firtht and then by the time I'm done watching it I'm sextht. :)
