The precession cycle may not be caused by the wobble of the earth. That theory has holes in it. The precession cycle may be caused by the sun's orbit around some fixed point. Most star systems that are researched are found to have stars which orbit around something. So it is this orbit that needs to be acknowledged in reference to the precession cycle and not the "Wobble of the Earth" Theory. The Sun itself may enter a galactic plane, not the Earth.

@UnderManiac 5 degrees warmer would mean a lot less ice...which means higher sea levels...most do live near water don't we? If ice melts, we wouldn't be able reflect sun's light which brings us to an ice age. 5 degrees less in an ice cap woud triple its melting speed and it is already melting too fast. People are already dying due to the weather too cold or too hot...5 degress increase or decrease will cause more people to die.

@edwardtang1977 You are quoting other doomsday proponents. History shows that the world has cooled and warmed significantly more than 5 degrees, yet our, and other species survived. There were times, even pretty recently, when there were relatively no ice caps on the north pole, but the polar bears didn't die out. The seals are still with us. People survived the "disaster". Sea levels would not raise much, since ice is heavy, already displacing the water.

@edwardtang1977 Have you ever done the experiment in high school where you measure a glass of ice water (pushing the ice to meet the surface), then letting the ice melt and re-measuring? The volume of the water with the ice melted is less than the volume of the water when the ice was intact.

The only people to be affected (if at all) are the ones living in lower than sea level areas, not protected by any natural or artificial storm structure.

@edwardtang1977 erm. the four seasons are actually attributed to how the earth is angled at the sun depending on what phase of orbit the earth is in. hence, in America, when it's winter, the northern hemisphere is angled slightly away from the sun, making it colder; while in Australia, the earth is angled slightly more toward the sun, making it hot. that's why Australians have summer in december. didn't you ever take basic science?

Biblically significant is that Christ becomes flesh around the solstice and he is called the "bright morning star" or the SUN. So the solstic is significant in relation to Christ. Thus the millennium that is coming might be coordinated to 2012 and the Mayans "inspired" to perceive/predict Christ's millennium.
