@Mrmoonboy5 thx for watching. As noted in a reply to an earlier comment, no attempt was made to supress the rather noisy drive system on this proof-of-concept model.
Bad idea showing this on youtube... Go take patent on it! Your gona make money on it.. Since japanese people already made one its not gona be a fortune but we are talking numbers!
What if the transmitter's battery dies or something while the pet has their head in there, could it decapitate the poor animal? That'd be a terrible thing to come home to.
The door motor revereses automatically if something (like a pet's head - hehe) jams it. It's not strong enough to do any damage but it certainly would scare an unwelcome animal.
it should run with electric cord plus battery backup too, so if the electricity goes out or the battery runs out you pet doesn't starve while you're surfing in Hawaii.
what if your pet leaves and another small animal (bird, kitten, sea cucumber, etc.) crawls inside the bucket before it closes? then it would overheat and die inside before your pet came back for seconds. then your pet would be ,like, "Hey that's some nasty smellin' shite in there!" And then it wouldn't eat and your pet would starve. Maybe if it closed really soon upon your pet leaving that would make it an extremely unlikely event.
maybe a loud buzzer goes off inside if the door stays open for over 1 min (but your pet isn't around) to scare off any animal that managed to get its head in before it closed upon your pet's being done eating. then it tries to close again. also glad you have the anti-cutting-the-head-off-of-unsuspecting-animals feature. :)
Hi uncle, this is an interesting invention ya have there, may i point out to ya something that i have observed that ya might take into consideration?
Imagine a pet that have just finished eating its food and another pet, that has no access to it has noticed that the door was still open when the authorised pet has come out, rushes in. As the pet does not have the "key" the door automatically closes. The pet did not react in time and get crushed by the door...
Ah i see, but now that it has this feature, isn't this gonna defeat the whole purpose of this machine? :)
Perhaps...perhaps, this machine, if it detects an unwelcome guest eating, it might want to constantly open and close the door to create a great disturbance to that pet and hopefully discourage it from eating and retreat. ;)
Apologies, i am just coming from the perspective of constructive critcisims. Hope you understand.
That's brilliant! =) Although if you really wanted to keep out all the wildlife that might come to your feeder you might consider going with a metal container/bucket rather than a plastic one. Just a thought...
Great invention and idea. Although, if the battery in the medallion runs out while you pet is eating, it could potentially decapitate the pet. Horrible thought I know. Great idea though.
Hehe - you're probably giving me too much credit. I'm just an old time mechanic and tinkerer who plays a little guitar, but thanks for the commpliment.
I think you should have used a servo ;)

Ok,
So you either are going to cut your dogs head with it, or get your dog really fat, because he is going to eat all the time, or maybe both.

dumb...no safety mechanism to prevent decaptitations

Motor not strong enough.
Lid not sharp enough.
Pet not weak enough.

Cool idea!
Argent009 - the door doesn't exactly slam shut, and together with the noise should see the animal move away before it loses its head.

Does it work with your pet mate? I mean, they don't get scared with the noise or something?

The prototype is a bit noisey - hehe - the production model operates silently.

Good point. Actually, it has a overload safety, like your automatic garage door. If anything jams the door, the motor reverses automatically.
