His kick looks ok in that it propels him forward but kristianelim is correct...fly kick comes from the chest not the hips or core. chset down then shoulders up. If you focus on this the whole kicking action takes care of itself!
@jiggersj correction. it DOES come from the hips and core. Your hips drive you kick.If you keep moving your hips up and down the better you kick will be. That is why you need a strong core. Your core keeps you stroke together. You have to be able to move you hips up and down quickly and have strong legs so your kick is both fast and efficient.
to start, the kick from the butterfly stroke is renamed as the 'body dolphin' instead of the 'dolphin kick' that is because, u need to use the body to make a wavelike motion. that wavelike motion should start at your breast presssing forward to initiate the body dolphin creating a wavelike motion.. the kick in your both two feets will only be a product of the body dolphin.. a good butterfly swimmer shall not rely on a strong kick but rather on a good body position and body dolphin..
youre actually doing good.. just focus on training and you will be faster in no time.. your body is still growing so youll be more powerful and stronger in the years to come.
right.. its actually a 'small kick' and a 'big kick'.. the small kick is when your arms hit the water, this is for body position and so that your lower body floats therfore your buttocks will surface out.. and the big kick is the one when you come back out of the water.
He doesnt push off right and his knees need to be straighter...

This guy is horrible. (1) He bends his knees WAY too much (2) he's barely using his core and (3) his streamline is disgusting.

quick question, u do two kickes per stroke in butterfly, one when your hands hit the water and one as the come back out, right?
