@jeanlucchapelon It is beyond awesome. I hope I can get out to see them in Montreal in July, even though I live outside of Woodstock NY. 6 hour trip. I hope they have a sax and flute player. They inspire to learn the flute.
Innovador y original sin igual en su epoca y aun hoy dificil llegar a las cumbres q toco VDGG, no es un "tema" ni solo un "disco" es todo una OBRA extraordinaria
One of the best pieces of music EVER recorded, just AMAZING. I do find it quite strange that SO many people think that the solo at the end of this is Robert Fripp though. To me it's quintessential Hugh Banton with his TRADEMARK distorted organ sound. (^_^)
Have you ever noticed that the beggining of this song (0:38 - 0:58) reminds the organ from "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"??? This song was recorded in '71 and the movie released in '77!
Camps of panoply and majesty What is Freedom of Choice? Where do I stand in the pageantry; Whose is my voice? It doesn't feel so very bad now I think the end is the start Begin to feel very glad now All things are a part All things are apart All things are a part Truly inspiring lyrics ;)
Epic. No comparison in rock except maybe A passion play, or thick as a brick. Maybe the ritual or revealing science of god. If any of you Fellow Prog heads don't have Godbluff 75 on dvd...get it E bay, under 20 bucks. I would pay a hundred.. This is on there live, in it's entirety. Watching Jackson make those fog horn sounds with two saxes is sick.
@worldcitizengrendel Only that at the end of "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" it is NOT robert Fripp on guitar but Hugh Banton on organ doing a perfect Fripp-imitation. If you don't believe me read the VdGG book by Jim Christopulos and Phil Smart.
one of the finest moments in prog-rock history. this monumental work can paint pictures full of beauty and fear before your very eyes. it´s the sheer might of musical expression!

jeanlucchapelon 2 months ago
Sophistication of the rythms!!
At 10.49 combination of 3/4 3/4 2/4 (sort of 8/4)
Then at 11.06 combination of 7/8 7/8 7/8 6/8 2/4 !!!!!!

the best take of this song for the voice 'cause the solo version is not terrible!!
The accompaniment is very inventive: sax, keys, drums and effects!!!
Hoorah!
It's a shame that ,in our time,we can't listen to long songs like this and others(Yes songs,ELP songs Genesis etc...)

among all the masterpieces of progressive rock, this one is something wonderful, enthralling, mesmerizing.
