  • I can get the darn thing to work for Sundog. I have sundog installed and Dosbox is working properly but when I get into the games file I don't know what to do... would you mind looking at it and seeing? There is a copy of sundog for free online.

  • Sure, I'll see what I can do.

  • Thanks a lot. I know its a bit of a lot to ask but my mom really loved the game when she was younger and she would get a real kick from being able to play it again.

  • Well i have tried EVERYWHERE else so i will bother you as my last resort! Im trying to run alien trilogy. There are some step by step instructions on the net as to how to set it all up... i get about 3 quarters of the way through when its time to open up dosbox again in C: mode and sort sound settings out it tells me "c drive does not exist you must mount it first" I've been at this for about 8 hours now and been to every help site under the sun. Do you have any light to shed on this? Thanks!

  • Give me a link to the instructions your following, and where you downloaded your version of the game, if you downloaded it in the first place.

  • Hello Sir. Thankyou for your prompt reply. After another few hours i actually got it to work!!! I was putting it under the wrong file name! Then i had the wrong version of the game!!! All sorted now though thankyou for your time though!

  • Well, glad to hear it works!

  • oh, i figured it out. i just had to go into properties on the file and change the security settings to let all users modify the file. stupid vista.

    thanks for your help brain!!!

  • Windows Vista, huh?

Well I use Windows XP, so that could've been a problem!

But hey, great to hear you got it working, and if you need further help, come back here, and I'll try and see if I can solve your issue.

  • i try to save the config file but it won't let me. it says the path doesn't exist. what happened?

  • You didn't happen to delete the path you were trying to save it to, while you were trying to save the file, did you?

  • uh, maybe? should i try to re-download it?

  • Sure... Maybe you deleted the config file for DOSBox.

  • oki, so i redowloaded it and tried again but it still gave the message: "cannot create the C:Program Files\DosBox-0.72\dosbox.config...

    what am i doing wrong!?

  • i cant get it to install when ever i try (im on vista) it just re installs the dosbox install thing, dosbox won't come up, only the installer keeps coming up help plz

  • When you try to install it, does the installation window only show for a second?

  • the windows 1 will work 4 vista to won't it?! :O

  • I did everything u said, i still have the z:\>

    maybe it's because i have windows 2000

  • I'm on Windows XP, so that could be an issue.

I'll ask the DOSBox team, and see what they say...

  • I typed it in exactly like you said

    mount C C:\DOS\CDrive

    mount D D:\ -t cdrom

    C:

    CLS

now I did that without the > and it comes out Z:\ maybe my cpu can't do it or something IDK

  • Does it work if you just type that code in DOSBox itself?

And is your default drive "Local Drive: C"?

  • Sorry, just saw your other comment. Have fun then!

  • nevermind I went by your directions but I forgot to put the > after the \ for

    mount c c:\dos\cdrive

  • Did you put:

    mount C C:\DOS\CDrive

    mount D D:\ -t cdrom

    C:

    CLS

    In the DOSBox config file?

  • can u tell me how 2 install CDS on2 DOSBox?

  • alright i got the CD up 2 the install screen but it keeps on telling me the directory doesnt exist or i don't have permission 2write over or idon't have enought space and i have alot of free space on my computer. What could i be doing wrong

  • Did you put:

    mount C C:\DOS\CDrive

    mount D D:\ -t cdrom

    C:

    CLS

    In the DOSBox config file?

yes I did but it came up still as Z:\> but then I I went into the first line

mount C C:\>DOS\CDrive and it came up as C:\>

  • nevermind it works I went back deleted it and retyped it in

  • I put the commands in but it still comes up as Z:\>
