  • I usually go for dub but DN Japanese is so much better, they sound fake in English.

  • Most dubs made these days are fine, everything funimation is putting out is great. There are few dubs I cant stand, but most of these are old or are dubbed by some shitty asian company for asia. For me its 90% dub, 10% sub.

  • The dub wasn't that bad unlike the other anime I've seen 'coughyu-gi-ohpokemonlove-hinaonepiecechobitsandmanymorecough'. Man that was a bad cough...

  • This show blew anyway. This subs vs. dubs crap is idiotic. All the weeaboos who think they're Japanese need to wake the fuck up. There is a huge fucking difference between the dub actually being horrible and if its not Japanese it immediately sucks. Like when people say the Dub of Black Lagoon sucks. These are obvious weeaboos. This show I don't rally give a fuck about but reading these comments, I was reminded that the weeaboos are real and my hatred for them is till very much alive and strong.

  • Chipmunk Dub xD

    JAPANESE FTW!~

  • the dub sounds like hes gay lmao xD

  • I have to say..I like the english dub better. I don't know why..I just do.

They did a pretty good english cast, I must admit.

  • @Evilvamp100

Brian Drummond and Brad Swaile are excellent.

  • @Usul573 Indeed. C:

  • @Evilvamp100

Perhaps a few moments I might prefer the Japanese voices, but overall it might be pretty much a draw for me.

Brian Drummond is my favorite voice in anything though.

  • The subbed Light is so much better. But overall the voice actors are better in Japanese. It's so obvious that it's not even worth discussing. The dub is ok.

But the Japanese is just in another league.

  • I love the Japanese voices more, but the English voices are far from bad.

  • Light's dub laugh sounds like an evil mouse... Subs for me...

  • Japanese FTW! <3

  • I love how he says Boku wa. In Japanese, children say book wa to say I am. Adults say another phrase I cannot recall. I think that was put in to show just how insane he is.

  • This dub is pretty good. But nevertheless, everything should be viewed in its original form, simply for the sake of art. If you change the entire sound of something, that's way too much modification.

  • @06pag This anime, I would personally say the dub is better for L's voice alone. But for other dubs like, oh idk, HETALIA the sub far outshines anything an english counterpart could ever do.

  • @painoftheheart12 It doesn't even matter which voice sounds better, original is always how it should be viewed.

  • @painoftheheart12 Yes because apparently according to Hetalia, Japanese is the primary language of the world. Every country can speak it perfectly with no notable accent.

  • @OniLordMiki I talking about some voices and mostly lines. If you watched America's cleaning shed, you'd see that England's Seiyu CAN speak english quite well, and they DO attempt accents with what they have. I have talked to the chinese and all of them say the Japanese accent of their speech was much more appealing. Also, bad voice directing, not acting is waht ruins the love. You seem to find sarcasm the way to go, but look at the issue, it isn't the voices that they really kill.

  • @rbnballer92 Can you give me more reasons? I didn't watch the japanese version because i don't have that much time on my hands so I can't compare.

  • @Madness212 Retards? Guess you referring to yourself. I can't stand you bias people. Tell me why death note is a bad dub can you do that? There are some bad anime out there but death note is definitively not one of them. Naturally i prefer dubs cause I Actually understand them but, If an anime is far superior in sub than the dub, Naruto Shippuden for example I would watch it in subs. You guys can't tell me that dubs like death note, naruto, code geass and Funimation one piece are bad dubs.

  • @MrHatAndClogs1990 LOL dude... Code geass is terrible dubbed.... Lel's voice does NOT match his personality at all

  • I prefer the japanese for Death Note, but IMO, Light's laugh sounds more insane in the english.

  • least the script wasnt mutalated like all the rest

  • i like the jap one better, simply because i find it sounding so natural, rather than the english one, which sounds like the person is wheezing.

  • the English is better you japs are racist thats why you don't appreciate the dubs, its clear that you hate americans but this was dubbed in canada.

  • xXTheAkatsukiXx

Im from holland and i hate the english dub and no im not racist and i dont hate americans its just a true that the dub is bad thats why most ppl like the sub the dubbed is for the retarded ppl who can't read subs and watch a anime at the same time

  • @Madness212 The english dub was awesome to me, personally. L's preformence was amazing. Same with Light and many other charaters. All the charater's voice were handled with care and everyone sounded really good. You can say otherwise but it's not like anyone here actually values you opinion.

  • @Madness212 your gay shut the fuck up you biased bitch, do you speak japanese/no so you and everyone else who dosnt can shut up

  • @JerkininSpace Which is why he watches it subtitled.

  • @Madness212 lol everone hates you.

  • @Madness212 Perfect case of a weeaboo.

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx You seriously are a total idiot. How the does watching anime in Japanese make you racist? A lot of americans watch anime in Japanese but that does NOT make them racist, they just watch it in Japanese because it's their personal preference. Also what makes you think Japanese people are racist? There is not a single piece of information which suggests that Japanese people are racist. Continued...

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx (Continued from my last post)...Japanese people watch anime in Japan because it's in their orginal language and because they probably like it better in Japanese. They also watch it in Japanese because anime come out in Japan first since anime is made in Japan. Also why do you watch anime if you think Japanese people are racist? Anime is made in Japan. Let me just remind you that Japanese people are not racist.

  • Both voice actors did such a good job, I bet it's hard to fake a maniacal laugh like that without it sounding embarassing.

  • sub for me. I mean the dub of this was great, but for me the voices were perfect in the Japanese, especially in this scene.

  • youre japanese thats why you like them better -_-'

  • lol I'm not Japanese at all. I just have good taste, unlike you :P

  • wannabe jap :P

  • lols coming from "TheAkatsuki"

  • it's from naruto that doesnt make me a wannabe jap dumbass

  • Yeah, because Naruto is one of the best cartoons to come out of Germany in years.

  • Hey BenjaminShittigton SHUT THE FUCK UP

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx Naruto is an anime. Anime is made by Japanese people. Liking anime, manga or Japanese video games does not make you a Japanese wannabe, a lot of people just like Japanese media.

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx Watching anime in Japanese does not make you a Japanese wannabe. It's personal preference. Some people prefer to watch anime in Japanese and other people like to watch anime in English. I like watching anime in both Japanese and Englsih.

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx Where is your proof he is Japanese? A lot of people who watch anime prefer it in Japanese but a lot of them are not Japanese. It's just personal preference. Some people like the voice acting in Japanese while others like it in English.

  • hahaha, i forgot how much Kira sounds like a goose when he laughs xD

  • good English dubs = welcome to the nhk (better than jap) hellsing (again better than jap because of English accents) black lagoon (way better than jap) death note (better than jap because when light laughs in the dub its sounds like a grown man laughing not a teenager who has a high pinched voice) also I just can't see why people would like the sub i mean there's nothing to complain about in the voice acting i mean if you only speak English than watch it in your own language duh

  • I'm not keen on the Japanese version of Death Note but this laugh was KICK ASS in Japanese! The English is ok but when I hear that Japanese laugh....*shudders*

  • English version sound weird to me somehow..

  • cause you're used to watching sub

  • @xXTheAkatsukiXx You don't know the reason why OoWoHooOo prefers to watch Death Note in Japanese. So don't pretend you know.

  • Shit.

  • in english laugh sounds horrible but the kira part is awesome

  • what i think he sounds incredible like hes finally lost it which he did

  • People who can't appreciate both to some degree are, what we call in the real world, elitists pigs who probably hate life and themselves for that matter.

  • It depends. In the sub, he sounds more vulnerable when he laughs, more unstable. In the dub, he sounds like an evil genius or a mad scientist. They both sound good to me, but I'd choose dubs any day, simply because I speak english and it's easier to put up with. I'm not saying all dubs are superior to subs, though.

  • I agree with ometta7, except death note overall I'd prefer the subs, but the dubs especially for Ryuk and Light are pretty damn good. Brad Swaile did a great job with light but at some parts of the last scene he sounded like greg ayres or something, lol.

  • Yeah....I mean, in alot of anime(particularly hentai), I prefer the subs because in some redubbings the budget wasn't high enough to hire good english voice actors. Death Note and Hellsing however, in my opinion, had excellent english voice acting.

  • hell ya. I agree, subs arn't that bad but it thing is that the only languge i speak is English. And some dubs do a good job, other do a great job. Gundam SEED did a great job on its voiceacting in dub, expecaly Kira, Mu, Rau La Crusset.

  • Yeah, another one I liked personally was Hellsing. Some English fans say "That's not an English accent!" and it may not be, but by God it beats a Japanese accent. Better it be an exaggerated stereotype than something completely irrelevant, right?

  • lol, in english when light laugh he sounds like a bitch

  • lol, The one in English is funny. He's so squeaky xD

So yeah, Japanese is better in my opinion. (He sounds like a man! Nice, deep voice, especially when speaking.)

  • Seriously I don't think these people in the dubs can sound naturally AT ALL. (Or naturally in comparison with the context)

its too over the top in the wrong way eugh i can hardly stand a single word. x _X

I hate dubs in every language. original is ALWAYS best.

  • I dare you to go watch Fruits Basket done in original with subs, then watch the dubs. I agree mostly with you, especially when they try to say names or Japanese specific things in English... awkward. But seriously, go check out Fruits Basket and listen, in particular, to Yuki's voice and Shigure's voice. Yuki was originally done by a woman, but when you hear the English portrayal, it just fits his character. Also Cowboy Bebop was fantastic dub, same with Ah! My Goddess.

  • omg i would have ever guessed light was kira!

  • (never)

  • English one is way more awesome! He's insane lol!

  • the audio is what someone recorded from adultswim showing. The video is taken from the same source but switched the audio for english. There is no dvd release yet for this episode.

  • hasnt anyone noticed that english versions of anime are always in better high quality or is it just subbing or internet? u know what, maybe its just me! idk!

  • I like the english one.

    *prepared for fanboy/girl flames*

  • SUBBED.. SUB ALWAYS PWNS!!

  • *cough*thisisn'tsubbed*cough*

  • Nvm, it is, but the fansubbers didn't create it didn't they?

  • about the laugh no doubt that the Japanesse is more creepy...the english dub did well from the beginning but just lost it when he standup and starts laughing out loud...just my oppinion...

but overall the engdub did a very good job...and i still cannot believe that this is the first anime that i enjoyed more watching the engdub rather than the original japanesse...

  • Hmm, I like the Japanese one a bit more but the English laugh did at least sound psychotic (in my opinion).

  • I like the Japanese virsion better. But the English one is funny..he squeels lol

  • LOL

both of them are hilarious XD

  • I don't know about that. They are both very well done and Brad Swaile made a perfect Light. Some lines are better in Japanese and vice versa.

  • The Japanese version is so much better. :)

  • LMFAO, Jellyhat didn't know that, he's dumb as hell.

  • I hope you knew i was been sarcastic cause' if you didn't know that....

  • you spoilt the movie now i know who kira is

  • I hope you were being sarcastic...because if you didn't know that, you're dumb.

  • LMAO Oh noes!
