@PaPaSiDD1189 have a athletic trainer? he should know what to do if you don't then put something on your knee like a elastic brace or bands rolled up on the bumps. Also resting and not doing any thing running wise for a month could stop it. If it countinues you might need to get sergery to grind the bumps down.
do what he said, it helps. but also strap a tight band around the bump, reduces the swelling and makes it less painful when running, jumping and squatting.
i have osgood schlatter since i was 12-13 and i'm now 15. i play handball which means lots of running and jumping. i have tried using straps and now i got a new knee protector but they dont seem to help. does anyone has suggestions on how to treat it? because i cant rest, the game is a big part of my life.
Guys buy knee straps the pain goes away when you play sports believe me I hade it since 11 years old and my doctor told me to buy some for the pain to go away
@Fazenbaker1 hey man i got it in grade 7 too, had to quit skateboarding & basketball... i am now 22 & into bodybuilding and it is yet coming up again.
I had severe case of osd and i am not 24 and it is very mild, knee cracks now and then but its not so bad. The only bad part is when i bump my knee into something.... the pain is immense!
Just thought I would let you all know that OS can continue to cause problems as an adult. I was diagnosed with OS at 10 yrs old. I am now 30 and have just had some new x-rays taken of my right knee. The bump caused from my OS is giving me a lot of trouble. It constantly hurts like it did when I was 10. I can't kneel on it or touch it without more pain and my knee is very unstable. Doctors are looking to have my "lump" surgicaly removed. OS can still cause problems in adults. FACT!
ofcourse it is on both knees, do you except your other leg grow faster than other? it is on both legs and ive had it about 6 years for now, doesnt hurt anymore but its hard to go down or stay on my knees because all my weight is focused on those "things" :)
well sorry, didn't know it can be also like that, because i tough its caused by growing and athletic life so didn't except it come to only 1 knee. guess its possible then
This condition CAN be treated so that you can recover in an average of 3 weeks. Check out the 'Strickland protocol' if you don't want to wait and grow out of it - in 1-2 years.
I've had this for four years now.. In the beginning it hurt like hell. But now, i just don't feel anything. (Although, the disease is still there (Both Knees))
@multipwnd101 hey man i just went to the doctor and i have it and u might just put tape on where the bump is it prevents from hurting and take 2 advils
I have a visible lump on my top left shin bone(just below the patellar tendon) since 3-years-ago. The pain from it isn't as bad as when it first started, but it's still an annoying discomfort when I play sports. All this started when I was playing long, intense bball. Does this means that I have this disease? I also had a lump on right knee but it disappeared and and it isn't as painful as my left knee.
I also have the same problem. I was having growth spurts in the legs and it was causing my hamstrings to be very tight. I had to go to physical therapy for 3 months.
ah QUESTION : i play basketball 5 times a weak DO YOU THINK MY OSGOOD SCHLATTER IS GOIN AWAY WHEN IM ADULT ???????? evej if i keep on playin ???? plzz respond plz
well i ive had osd for about 1 year and a half and im only 16....but it depends how old r u once u stop growing the pain should not be as bad when it began when u wer young.
