@2Majesties People describe existentialists as narcissistic and also the question of manic depression is often posed when encountering deeply thinking existentialists. I read a bit of existentialism and when people listen to me discuss me it seems they diagnose me as suicidal or crazy hahaha My answer, hardly. Society views existentialism as fucking looney toons.
Mersault doen't show how the universe works. Einstein did it. Mersault just reflect the Algerian society of his times.Camus got the Nobel Price in 1953. Probably in Marsault Camus universalized the absurd human condition where people is judged by perceptions of her/his actions. he has no emotions as well his environment never nurtured him as a child or as an adolescent. He emotionally departed from his mother and brought her to a home care because both worlds fall apart. That's very common.
This man bothers me so much. He talks about love in this portion. It makes me want to cry. Does the universe LOVE??? If Mersault is truly the embodiment of the universe, in human form then why would he love Marie? Mersault thinks as well. Mersault is smart. He has to explain the movies he sees to his friend. Do not look at Mersault as a person, though. Look at him as a learning tool. Mersault is showing how the universe works, obviously without a god controlling it, I.E. INDIFFERENT
Meursault didn't love Marie, but was sexually attracted to her. The universe also doesn't love, but parts of the universe are "attracted" to others, vis a vis gravity.
lol.
Camus is describing my feelings for what i saw in my childhood - and, i imagine what he saw in his childhood.

This is a very simplified interpretation. I wouldn't label Mersoult any of the things this lecturer says.
