  • Can we please just drop the bitterness? I made this video (and others) in a bid to help others who might just want a little guidance in order to tackle some chainsaw maintenance. That's it. I'm not out to change the world, and I don't care if you're from Birmingham, Alabama, or Birmingham, England. I don't care if you speak with a 'posh' accent, or a Southern drawl. I also couldn't care if you're straight, gay, white, black, pink, brown, yellow. If the video helps you, then that's cool :0)

  • I'm just one arrogant American prick that would like to thank you for the video. I just got my first chainsaw and have never used one in my life, so this video was helpful. (No doubt it offended people worldwide to hear my opinion.)

  • the lower tooth you refer to is the 'drive' link, its flat back is pushed by the sprocket along the guild bar, the lower part is called the tang it carrys chain oil and cleans out debris along between the guild bar rails .the width of the tang must be the same as the bar grove (width between the guild bar rails) lift the chain up with yr fingers in about 3 places it shud snap back down.

  • After you believe the tension is correct, pull the chain outwards with fair tension (not full force) in the middle of the guidebar. You should be able to see about 1/2 to 3/4 of the inside tooth that is furthest from the guidebar. Also recheck the tension once the bolts are tightened, as tension can adjust slightly while tightening. If the chain stops IMMEDIATELY after disengaging the throttle, the tension is too tight. When the chain begins to sag slightly after use, re-tension is required.
