If you've ever seen a guy called "Tom Leopard", you will get an idea of were such viewpoints can lead to. His heart tells him he's a different species altogether. The results are....interesting, shall we say.
runrig wouldn't try to u cock end, both bands respected each other and both are part of the reason why scotland produced some of the best bands ever, including The Blue Nile! It's not a competition, they both have a place, and it just so happens it's at the top, in my opinion!
It is an amazing soundtrack. The long version is like the Scottish highlands set to music, check it out! The cd is hard to get but the album is on itunes in the uk.
and this song was a b side. u2, muse, guns n roses etc etc that most people wank over couldnt ever dream of writing something with the raw emotion that captures a great country, culture and heritage that BC always did. make u wish to be scottish
theres just somethin about big country songs that brings a tear to my eye. a think its a mixture of pride and pleasure. a genius has been lost but, will allways be remembered.
I used to have the Restless Natives 12" EP. Used to listen to this before I ever saw the movie. Loved the music. Then someone said "I'll swap you the EP for the video". The rest is history .... actually, I wish I'd kept the EP. You realise how long I've been hunting for this particular song?????
Best fucking band period been a fan since the beginning & seen them on every tour including this years tour with Mike Peters! Yeah its not Stuart but he was a good friend of Stuart's & he's keeping the Big Country dream alive!!
I Guess that would depend on what your sister refers to herself as. My Girlfriend is the exact same! Scottish parents, raised in Scotland, born in London and she refers to herself as Scottish so I go with that. Would I refer to Big Country as a Scottish band? yes and no. The sound of the band could be labeled 'Scottish' but even then i think that label only describes one element of a truely exceptional band.
@Cathain78 Rhys Ifans was asked on telly by johnathan ross what he thought about Vinnie Jones being the Welsh captain. He said "Doesn't matter. He's got a dragon on his arm thats good enough for me. If your heart is Welsh who cares where your arse is from?" I guess if your heart is Scottish the same applies.
Well that is one viewpoint, a rather modernist viewpoint albeit. This derives from a kind of relativistic view of reality - the idea that anyone can be what they want to be. It's superficially pleasing to think in such terms, to believe you can be what you are not. Whether it actually correlates with reality is something else, however. There are points for and against both views.
@awayandspin True, but to us they're just as Scottish as we are! We'll welcome anyone with a passion as huge as they did for Scotland with open arms, no matter what their birth certificate may say.
A masterpiece. One of many for the most underrated Band in the whole history of rock. Thanks to Isabelle, SkaPaul and everyone who keeps "alive" BC in the Net.
absolutly brilliant! am 18 and this is lyk somthin ma dad would listin to but as soon as a guy at ma work mention the film i watched it classic scottish film lyk wel good! and i just had to have the soundtrack too ;)

The best live band I have ever seen, You know the gigs i mean where you dance and sing with the band all the way through, are soaked in sweat and are totally knackered at the end. But you are on such an high you don't care that you have missed the last bus home
One of the most underated bands....my God, it´s 22 years since i bought the single...i think it was *look away* and found their best song on the backside.
The E is still touching my soul...thank your for sharing this with us !
at about 47-48 seconds thats when the shiver down the spine start for me, imagine if you will, the movie Rob Roy with Liam Neeson (sincere condolences to him and his family) with this track about the time when he grabs the blade and then cuts tim roth in half, fuck me that would be amazing, somebody make this clip, I challenge thee!!
Aww, BC were some of the best! And Stuart was simply a genius at what he did. I hope God is taking good care of his spirit, wherever it may fly. RIP, Mr. Adamson. Restless, indeed...

Doesn't matter where you happened to be when you popped out. If her heritage is Scottish, and her veins run with Scottish blood, she's Scottish.
