Xbox almost singlehandedly dragged down standards for games in general. Ps2 were always adventurous and had a certain diversity in the variety of genres it had.

And Nintendo..For a company that's legend for consistantly putting out the most classic series of all time, GC fueled the fire well til Wii came. Xbox had some innovations on it's hand, but for me personally.. Cod players and idiot douches, no thank you. I'd trade all the mindless xbox shooters just for one play through of Earthbound.

@graysonbreeden boooooo, you suck halo and halo 2 set the standard for gaming, they brought us or publicised, clans, ranked matchmaking, big team gameplay, unrealistic shooters which meant ww2 wasnt the only genre, ctf which is actually a halo invention in the gaming world, voice chat (very popular after halo 2),individual 3d object projection (which is when if you turn everything around you doesnt turn on the spot aswell) community based gaming, and a story line that owns earthbound,little shit

@ObservedFIREFLY Yes... Innovations for Xbox live... Which kinda defeated itself by making the gaming community less about fun and more about mindless shooting.. But that's just my opinion. And that's one series against many, although the Halos rock.

And Halo isn't the series that has people begging by legions for follow-ups to an extent of Nintendo of America reacting constantly to fan cries. Or makes you cry supposedly.

I brought up Earthbound because that game innovated story in my opinion. In a time when RPG's were all about swords n' dragon stuff and the leader of the pack was FF, Earthbound brought a very fresh spin w/ pop culture, and even compared to the Halo series in general, what Earthbound/Mother 2 did in one SNES limited story is phenominal. Pokemon's true parent.

Don't get me wrong, I preferred the PS2 to the Xbox, and the PS1 to comparable Nintendo / Sega systems, but I will tell you right now: The Xbox was just a better system, it had integrated online capabilities and media capabilities that far exceeded those of the PS2.

The PS2 had all my favourite games on though, so it will remain my favourite console of the last gen. The Dreamcast was good too, though.

true about N64 and ps1 but seriously, RPG's are so stupid. Dreamcast might have come close, but nothing will beat xbox. They pioneered online gaming on consoles, made some awesome racing games, set the bar for all shooters with halo, and a lot more. what did dreamcast do? well, really, it was just sega's last console, which isn't really an achievment.

Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is better than any game on PS2. That game alone is almost worth the purchase of an xbox.
