  • hi there, thanks alot for the tutorial. one question. for example how can I change the decay while live recording? when I try it changes the drum sound but it won't record it.

    thanks alot!

  • Reason is fun! i Cant say that about any other music making software... but i didn't buy it, srry Propellerhead - i broke

  • I like ableton live more. Its much more flexible and less limited.Still great vid :D

  • hey a shot out to propellerheads best software company!!!!listen please make a video on how to do my own mastering patch am traying to create one but am getting confuse with the connection proud REASON owner!!!!

  • hey man i jus wanna know....in reason 5,.... when your sampling live from your mic, how do i change the PITCH of the sample, without changing the speed of the sample in KONG? thanks !

  • @Hoodtip101 In Reason 5 with Record 1.5, you could record the sample onto a audio track, pitch it with Neptune and then bounce that to a sample which you assign to Kong. In Reason 6 you could record it to an audio track and use the new pitch transpose feature in the sequencer to do it automatically, then bounce that to a sample and assign it to Kong. In Reason 5 only, I'm not sure if there is a way.

  • @PropellerheadSW thanks, im trying to get reason 6 hopefully its more easy to pitch without changing the speed!

  • @Hoodtip101 Sup not sure if you solved your problem but I just use Audacity to change the pitch. It's good with PC but pretty shite for mac. Free ware though.

  • @Hoodtip101 you can do it in free audacity!

  • In Reason 6 Can I make 2 Kongs at once?

  • @spulkagent47 You can make 200 Kongs at once! It's unlimited the number of devices you can create within the ability of your computer to handle it.

  • nice dude thax!!!!! simple and easy to understand

  • nice dude thax!!!!!

  • how did you make the sound between 0:10 to 0:14???

  • Song at beginning of video? Would really appreciate it. Cheers!

  • lol @ 0:15 Definitely was

  • it's the visualization that makes Reason meld with my brain.

  • Thank you I fixed it it was the mixer :)

  • i cant get sound out of it! do you no what ive done?

  • @96stinkypete Lots of places to look. Is it wired up to a mixer? Is the mixer wired to the main L/R output in the Hardware Interface? Have you chosen the correct sound driver in the preferences?

  • Hey, thanks for the video, but i have one important question. that is I realized every pad takes up 3 half notes in a midi keyboard, my question is there a way to remap certain kong pads to certain keys on a midi keyboard? thanks

  • Hey Propellerheadsguy. I have one of the axiom 25 with 8 pads. It triggers the lower 8 pads of the Kong by default. Is there a way to switch to the upper 8 pads? thx anyone 4 help :)

  • @theoneandonlyhut You should be able to set up your Axiom pads to play different notes than they're set to right now. The Kong pads are (going off memory) set to start at C1 and move chromatically up from there, C#1, D1, D#1, E1, and so on. So I think you just change your pads on the Axiom to from G#1, A1, A#1, B1, C2, and so on. That should play the top eight pads. You can save this as another preset on your axiom then.

  • @PropellerheadSW WOW! Fastest response EVER ! Gotta love ur support. I have an OT Question about reason 6 EDU versions. Where can i ask this?

  • Can I Import Wav Into Reason Kong??

  • @LostSoulKw Yes via the NN-nano sample module.

  • Reason is legend. Some may know agree, but for me Reason is the best. They cannot beat beaten for uniqueness and I need nothing else. From the moment I first read about Reason 2.0 (back in the days) in sound on sound, there was no turning back to Cubase or any other software.

  • Is it possible to apply eq (mclass) to an individual pad?

  • "and you were like 'bjgibjgibjgibjgibjgbijgjbigjbgijijijgjgbjgibjgijb'" haha :D

  • anyone, how do I play the kong drums using my computer keyboards??

  • @oliversgrn bome's mouse keyboard

  • can u play the kong by using a midi drum pad to trigger it ??

  • @sexyduck69 totally. it was designed for exactly that style of integration.

  • @PropellerheadSW savage man gotta get my hands on that

  • Wow velocity sensitivity without actual sensitivity, that was a really good idea!

  • 0:15 XD HAHAHA

  • I love u guys,ur customer support is Win-Win

  • if i open a reason 4 saved song in reason 5 will it sound the same? Can i upgrade and continue working without any setbacks?

  • @swedishbutcher Yes it will sound the same. You could open up a Reason 1 song and it would sound the same. No setbacks whatsoever. Enjoy!

  • Love the tutorial and your sense of humour.

By the way, have you guys ever thought about giving the Reason + Record package a catchy name? Something like Reacord or something? :)

  • Does it have Note Repeat?

  • @MomoTheBellyDancer Note repeat is a function of the RPG-8 Arpeggiator already in Reason. So linking one to Kong and dropping them into a combinator provides note repeat. There's a few different approaches to how people wire this up depending on their preferences. If you head over to our forum on our website you can search for Kong and "note repeat" and you'll find plenty of examples and patches to download too. Thanks!

  • @PropellerheadSW Al my life i was dreaming of something , sound to be Repeat ,,,,,note..........nice but can it be easier , happy

  • How Well does the Kong Edition work with a MPD32?

  • I've been trying to figure out, can sample into Reason/ Record (in this case Kong) and chop a loop then spread that loops parts to the pads? As with a MPC?

  • Comment removed

  • got a question for ya, i use knog to play samples like an mpc how do i set my sample to stop playing when i release the key

  • @TheMeducation sure, no prob! On the NN-Nano sampler module in the lower right corner is a switch. It looks like a sawtooth wave on the bottom setting of the switch and a square wave on the top setting of the switch. Set it in the up position (the square wave) and turn the Decay knob to the left of it up to MAX. Now your sample will stop when you release the pad. Thanks!

  • This is rly complex! lol!

  • i fucking love you guys

  • Im new to all this reason stuff lol.. Do you need to buy the pads? and im not a dj, the name is a joke

  • cruel :D

  • M m MPC ^^

  • "Don't let it's *cough* MPC *cough* appearance fool you."

    I literally LOL'ED!!! hahaha

  • @SamAndrew27 You can even see the dirt/wear on the "pads" LOL

  • Will the drum pad on my mpk47 work with it?

  • can u make vids for newbs i am very new so any help!!!

  • And you were like... Blbrllralblrlrlbalrblralblrblrbl

  • I have an akai MPD 32, this gonna be the shit!

  • is it possible to trigger these drums with redrum's sequencer?

that 16 step is like, my living quarters

  • @xnavigator Absolutely. In fact our product specialist, James Bernard, put up a video tutorial on exactly how to do this a few days ago. Check it out! youtube.com/watch?v=zkyz2hyQ-Ao

  • how do i map kong to my mpd 26 according to how my pads are placed?i push pad 1 and for some reason it plays a random pad on kong instead of pad 1...

  • i think "edit sample" feature in nn-nano should've been implemented differently... you shold be able to assign a single sample to multiple pads, but with different start/end points, seems impossible to do this without duplicating samples, which is disk-space consuming

  • @ganjaman986 You can using the "copy patch" function, then adjust the "attack" in the "amp env" section of Nano-XT or just edit each sample in the Sample Editor. It's all manual, but it's not impossible. Another way is to bypass Kong all together and just use the NNXT... Make copies of the same patch....use "auto chrom" function to map...and adjust the start/end with the Start/End buttons of the NNXT.

  • kong has awesome drums , its coooooooool but where is neptune in reason 5 i cant find it in create instrument

  • @korgpadude I think neptune is exclusive to Record 1.5

  • @Weslie777 ye i was thinking that too thnx

  • im screwed i have to click with my mouse every sec to make a beat

    gg

  • this makes me horny

  • Word of advice....GIVE KONG 32 STEREO OUTPUTS....OR AT LEAST GIVE US THE CHOICE TO SPLIT THE 16 INTO MONO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @smokeizfire You can split to 16 mono so save your exclamation key some wear and tear. ;) if you don't understand how you can message me and I'll explain.

  • @PropellerheadSW Lol...I know....without thinking I posted this.. But the way to do it is just pan each pad to left or right...same way I use to do with the MPC 60...duhh(to myself)...lol

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • can you please help me download reason 5? i really want it because i need to make my own sound tracks. i have reason 4, but this is better. please help me download it for free.

  • Man I got this and it's off the chain. Only spent $129 dollars on this baby. Kong is a monster! I even like blocks and I thought it would be wack but it's really nice to have. I am going to get back into sampling now though I have the MPC, and that Neptune is heaven sent! Now we have markers now that makes me happy. you can chop up samples in the rex looking thing that's swell!

  • daaaaaaaaaaamn!

    gotta get it

  • thank you so much to propellerhead !!

    thank you !!

    you re magic !

you re ( or near to become ) N1 in music software

  • So basicly a mor technical version of redrum. Nice. And the nurse rex.... genious

  • hey a question for the new sample function in reason

if you record like a vocal and when youre done you upload the rps

would it say that the sample is missing or would it be self contained?

  • @User846 Yup. You can save self contained files now with samples and refill content - which means you can collaborate with people who may not own your same refills

  • @PropellerheadSW thanks ive been using all the versions of reason and rebirth your product s is great

  • @PropellerheadSW That is really a good new's

  • I like the way proppellerhead communicates to it's costumers/users, really funny and enjoyable to watch =)

  • So you're saying that it's now viable to use my MPC 2000XL as a controller and it will map everything chromatically?

  • yidiyadiyidiyadiyidiyadi lol

  • Kong is King!

  • AVE KONG!!!! It is great! I love it. I will make wonderful Simmons drums. I made already not bad simmons with 3 synthesizers pro one Simmons module, but this here will be much better! :)

  • Oh man..to think i always called it "re-drum"...not "red-rum". -facepalm-

  • @beetrobot Me, too, and I have a feeling we are not the only ones out there. :> But I've used it calling it that and won't let go of it. :D

  • @beetrobot i call it "mur-der"

  • One more question, i will be able to use an mpc controller with this will i? Ive never worked much with mpc i just want to know will i be able to easily map say an akai mpd or something to kong?

  • @joshmolina3 easy peasy. works great.

  • are you guys still keeping redrum? or is kong going to completely replace redrum?

  • @joshmolina3 We're keeping Redrum, don't worry. :) Kong is just like Redrum's bigger brother in the drum machine family.

  • @PropellerheadSW damn...if korg is redrums big brother...i cant wait to meet daddy in version 6 etc ;)

  • ahahahaha. Hilarious.

  • Actually it's pronounced Reeedrum. Also, for the record, it's Moooog. Like the noise a cow makes.

  • @dioxide74 For the record, no. It's Moag. Rhymes with 'Rogue'.

  • @schragemusik It's clearly Mooog.

  • @dioxide74 Respond to this video Then I guess that Bob Moog must have got his own name wrong when, in a recorded interview, he declared that it was pronnounced 'Moag'. Could I ask your nationality, sir?

  • @schragemusik Yeah I know! What an idiot.

  • @schragemusik You're totally right, moog rhymes with 'vogue', I still say 'moooog' though, I know it's wrong, but I just can't break the habit! :(

  • @gazzmatronix :-)) Thanks for the response. I grew up in age where, for a while, every synth was referred to as a 'Moog' (much to the intense irritation of ARP owners). These Moog's were quite regularly seen on TV so I got to hear the name FAIRLY frequently. :-) When I bought one of the first synths in my home county (a low-end Roland) a local reporter came to the house to write a piece on 'The Moog' (I think he wanted to interview it actually).

  • @schragemusik I'm of the same vintage! First synth I saw was Eno playing a VCS3 on Virginia Plain in TOTPs, didn't get my hands on one until I won a Roland SH101 in a cartoon contest in 1984. I found a virtual modular Moog a few years back, but it was almost as difficult as a real one to programme, but I find the Thor, Subtracter and Malestrom synths on Reason a real breeze to use. I'm like a kid in a toy store now, just got my virtual SSL to do that 'flying faders' trick, just for the LOLs!

  • @gazzmatronix LOL. There's still a damp patch in my old home town where I used to stand and dribble over a photo of a VCS3. Good win, sir. I have that virtual Moog somewhere. Could NOT get to grips with it. Keep meaning to have another go but.... Yes. Love those Reason synths. I love your 'kid in a toy store' analogy - I'm exactly the same. Just love all this stuff that was SOO expensive when we were young. My first synth cost me nearly a year's wages (and made my father want me sectioned):-)

  • @schragemusik What Roland was it, a Jupiter 4? Always loved the VCS3 as it looked and sounded like something out of Dr Who's Tardis! I saw the prototype at a talk by a guy who did some Dr Who music, Tristan Carey I think his name was, the labels were handwritten, but it was in a glass box and wouldn't play. I'm really like an amateur engineer who has to do music to justify having all the gear to record and mix with! I can't really sing, so am looking forward to Neptune update!

  • @gazzmatronix No. Wayy before the Jupiter. The SH1000 mono synth. Awful thing by today's standards - but I loved it. It was certainly a step up from my stylophone (which I had wired into a suitcase along with wah-wah, phase shift and ring mod). Typically English, I believe the original name for the VCS3 was 'The Putney'. I'm wondering about Neptune. I use Melodyne. Neptune will have to go a LONNGGG way to beat that. But, if anyone can, it'll be the Props!! Having gear is its own justification.

  • @schragemusik I'm playing with a demo of Melodyne Editor at the moment, with the DNA which is simply astonishing, I never thought they'd be able to untangle all the info in a chord. I've opened up the chord starting the Beatle's Help into an arpeggio and I've managed to separate Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody into 4 individual Freddies. Just unbelievable! I'll have to do a video on it. Having gear is it's own justification, YES! It's nice to meet someone else on my unsinusoidal wavelength! :)

  • @gazzmatronix Likewise, sir!! :-) Yes, Editor is allowing me to use guitar on my music. It's like witchcraft. The original Melodyn had me thinking that they'd signed some kind of pact with the devil (that allows you to 'fix' up to 8 mono lines - great for vox) but mucking about inside a chord is .... well...... spooky! Are you on FaceBook? If so, I'm on there as Chris Marsh - feel free to hook up there. And again, good to meet you.

  • Looks great. Enjoying the beta. Would love to see a micro tutorial that shows it in use with a TD12 or similar kit.

  • *cough*MPC!*cough* I liked that. :D

  • I'm so pumped to drop some virtual beats!!!

  • dang...i am really looking forward to Reason 5!

  • Beebeebebabeebedebedabadubidebedeebidabo

  • This is a simpler NN-XT with sound in it. But is it better?

  • Awesome!

  • wow , i just farted

  • OMG.

  • very interesting

  • I love the cheesy Propellerhead humor. And Kong looks awesome.

  • yeah bwoy that beat is heavy,,,,when is the relase date ?????

  • the future is here!

  • GooooooooooooooooooooooooooD

    Where i can get this???

  • and in what way is this a tutorial?

  • @grumo81 Um... in the way that we all just learned how to do complex pad linking, alternate hit trigggers, hi hat mute groups, aux sends, in-line effects, select different drum modules, and modify its default settings. So other than THAT... yeah this was just an intro and an outro... how lame! ;)

  • @ThomasNelTech I still see it as more of a showcase than an actual tutorial...

btw, thank you for not insulting me in your response ;)

  • @grumo81 Maybe pay attention before having an opinion you idiotic retard. It's called micro tutorial for a reason, does that make any sense? If it doesn't please kill yourself

  • @Twentysixbillion consider your self kneecapped

  • @yesitsvish omg your so retarded

  • @yesitsvish Seriously, is there some underlying meaning behind your comment? That really is stupid. Oh by the way, consider yourself shot in the head wtf

  • ehm ehmm pc

  • OMG!!!!! WTF!!!! KONG!!! OMGF!!!

  • after watching this again i had to remove my comment about recycle needing to within reason/record. i think for what i will be doing, the kong will be use all day long. but how about a dedicated controller??!! with all the extra's that go on in kong i don't know if it could be done but what if....just the idea of not looking at a computer the whole time would be great. (i know about maschine)
