  • Great Work! Come to Chile!

  • i Think ivEseen this this guy before...... wait .... oh, my bad ... now i know where ive seen him. the movie E.T.

  • He is indefinently growing other "things" if you know what I mean rat scones.

  • grape

  • Useful Video. I love it so I make respone.

    Thanks.

  • Informative, been looking up stuff like this in case we enter another great depression. Can't depend on the government for everything. ( Have no desire to anyway)

  • this is the best video i have seen , thanks for that advice

  • Great video. @ 4:07 you can hear the loop from Forth Minor's "Believe" :D

  • atbestvague, on behalf of America, thank you for exposing this fruity graperrorist. he comes across as anyone's grandpa, when all along he only wants these grapes to be destroyed in a senseless gastric act.

  • It's about time you all know the truth about this guy.

He had the opportunity to save a bushel of grapes from undeserved torture, simply by making a few keystrokes.

    Yet he hasn't

Today, I turn up the heat.

I will be using scotch tape to attatch 968 grapes to the treading of the tires of my car, and will; do a lap around a random cauldersac, EVERYDAY, until my simple demands are met.

I don't even remember exactly what my original demands were... just fulfill any demands you can!

  • im planting grape on backyard...it could help for me to watch your videos...i like planting vegetables and fruits.

  • i wish gilbert grew grapes

  • i wish i grew grapes

  • Great video, thanks!

  • Today I stomped on five raisins. I made a grape watch.

  • See, someone making their time on the Earth worthwhile and positive.

  • LOL

  • I wish the world/planet had much more people like this guy... and less of the superficial people who look good for a season w/shit personalities.

  • I saw this video, and ended up purchasing your book about a year ago. It was a great help, now the grape is the center of my gardening hobby.

I am currently experimenting with different varieties to grow in Las Vegas, NV. The only varieties that are readily available are 'Thompson seedless' and 'Flame seedless'. I ended up acquiring a 'Golden Muscat' and a 'Red Globe', and hopefully i'll find a 'Black monukka' to try.

Thanks for sharing your passion and knowledge.

  • I live in PA I have pine trees on the ground

is there a grape you recommend I can grow?

  • Sounds like you need to ask Lon yourself. Try contacting him here: bunchgrapes [dot] com

  • Or you could contact your local Extension educator. If you live in grape-growing country (that is, if your climate is suitable for growing grapes), there will be locals who can tell you what grows best in your area. If it's hot, try a Mediterranean variety like Cabernet. If it's cool, try Reisling.

  • atbestvague......

The neck is not unlike the cartoons character on your page, which indeed makes one wonder. If this is the way you sort information and measure people - gosh I really feel sorry for you.

  • If you can't tell that I was being facetious, I feel sorry for YOU.

  • These stories just keep getting better. Another five star result.

  • fort minor-believe me,i like this guy so happy

  • I planted about 2 dozen assorted grape vines last year, watered, fertilized, but only 2 survived. This year I bought about half a doz and planted them in pots. They were doing real good until my dog decided to chew them down to 2 inches. My future grape harvest isn't looking too good. :(

  • UC Davis!!! Represent!!!!

  • ya'll ever had a muscadine?? eer been to the south??

  • Best Grape out there. We use to go to dirt roads where trees shaded over the roads. The Muscadines would fall when we tossed sticks into the trees. There is no other grape this good. The skins were never eaten. Just too bitter. We would suck the insides out and squish the skin to release more juice. Finding a ripe bunch of Muscadines is like finding Persimmons while out in the woods. You would hit the tree trunk and it would rain fruit! You just looked for the seeds the raccoons left behind.

  • YAYYY go OSU GRAD!

    Oregon Rocks.

  • I like grapes in the summer ;-)

    Ciao

    Thanks

  • We have a small vineyard too. Some things that he didn't mention about grapes is how fragile they are.

They can only be pruned in the very early weeks between winter and spring.

They also attract hundreds of bees when you go to pick them. So whoever picks them will most likely get stung (I've been stung).

Grapes take years to grow, a good plant may take 3-5 years to mature and produce lots fruit. The grapes only keep for 3-4 weeks on the vine before spoiling.

    Growing grapes in an art.

  • Thanks for sharing your experience on grape growing, CMLovejoy. Lon does prune during those times. If you get the sense he wasn't thorough with his info, that would be because I was focusing on his story of how he got interested in growing grapes and fruit trees, for that matter. I don't want anyone to think this is a 'how to'. Lon's expertise goes way beyond this short video!

  • This was a great video, you did a great job on it as you always do ;-)

My point is that grape growing is very difficult and not at all easy (unlike corn). I think this man the "Grape Grower" is a bit of an artist at his craft.

  • Thanks, CM. =)

I'm with you on it being an art...I have some vines in my backyard and I hope they survive my learning ways!

  • Why are grapes so sour? Or why or some other

grapes so sickingly sweet? Grapes suck.

  • maybe shouldn't have clicked on the grape growing video then hey..

maybe, Pointless Video Comment's video would be more appropriote?

    Christina x

  • wow, this is pretty detailed and isn't afraid of addressing the mundane quotidian elements of grapegrowing head on.

  • This is really boring. Why should I give a rats behind how to grow a grape?

  • I take it you've never tried to grow anything.

  • yeah! and what's it to you if I haven't tried growing anything? maybe i will!! maybe i'll start growing pot!! how would you like that? maybe i'll grow it, start selling it, and become wealthy. Maybe I've never had the

opportunity's like you've had. Ever thought

of that? Mr. My Grape Is So Upscale Magnificent! Have you tried growing your

own kid in your stomach? Try that one! LOL.

  • I think your an idiot.

  • Thanks for your nice comment. Just because I don't like grapes you're calling me an idiot?

  • mundane is an understatement. Now you know what priviledged people do with their time.

    Gee what a concept.

  • Great grapes. White power!

  • So you want to sell your book.

  • I did a story on Lon cause I thot he was an interesting person with a passion for growing and breeding grapes, fruit trees, and other wonderful plants. The fact that he is willing to share his knowledge gained over 35 years I think is great. Those who want to know more can go to his website, where he gives away lots of info without having to buy anything.

  • I dont like your video. I find the old man's neck to be disturbingly thin. It makes me uneasy, like he's turning into a tree. I see that you respond to everyone's comments, and I want you to know that if you don't respond to mine, I will hunt down a raisin and step on it. I will then leave a comment notifying you. Further lack of response will result in the stomping of grapes, followed by kiwis, then plums, on down the list of fruits, small to large, skipping those I feel should be skipped.

  • go for it. we're all built differently...thank goodness!

  • He didn't respond to my comment :( I should have threatened a grape.

    :)

  • LMAO I like youuuu

  • Can you grow grapes well in western Washington

  • Lon said grapes can grow pretty much anywhere. You just have to find the variety that works in your area. BTW, he is in OR, and he is growing lots of different kinds of grapes.

  • looks like it was a wonderful afternoon - how fun to grow grapes

  • Ms.Betty, it was a beautiful day after so many cold rainy ones!

  • Thanks for sharing your passion ... that was great!

  • thanks, Macspaniel. Lon is very cool.

  • Grapes totally rock! Good vid.

  • thanks, sony2hd. glad to know you liked this one!

  • 5 STAR!

  • thanks, dontellnobody2!!

  • Good Grapes! *****

  • Yes, they are ;)

And thanks for you for all those stars!
