Even the Champcar Lolas, which CC fans considered ugly slugs, were waaaaay faster than the Dallaras buzzing around today. I like having the new series under Cowboy Randy but waiting a whole nother year for the new chassis is brutal...
It's just a shame that this series died off...well, not really, because it joined with Indycar, but I know a lot of people don't really dig that. (me included) But hey, it'll get better in 2012, with that new design, and with Lotus and Chevy coming back along with Honda. (btw, Lotus and Chevy also are designing aero kits for the cars, not just engines)
@IndyCarAce b/c they have no other choice, there's no other open wheel series around, IRL is their only opportunity to run an team. Yes a few CC teams run IRL now, but many of them left (Walker Racing, Rusport, Pacific Coast, Forsythe, Minardi)
@HollywoodSheen Those teams left because the split drove fans and sponsors away. Reunification was the only thing that would've and did stop the bleeding. I may prefer the older Lola-Ford IndyCars over the current Dallara-Honda IndyCars, but I rather watch the best IndyCar teams and drivers race the current Dallara-Honda IndyCars than no IndyCars.
you know back in the day you could watch these sexy looking and wonderful turbo-sounding cars on sundays. Today you can't. That was a quality of life Tony George took away from us. Fuck him, fuck Barnhart, fuck Penske, fuck Robin Miller, fuck Michael Andretti all of them motherfuckers
@masurra I dislike those guys (except Andretti) as much as anyone else, but it was CC themselves that decided to fold up shop. They didn't have to do that but they decided to be pussies and quit. CART was run like shit n as a result they had to file BK. Then when it was resurrected as CCWS, it was still run like shit, no one learned from the past! They could've kept going n steered things right but instead Forsythe & douche Kalkhoven took the cowardly route & caved b/c they thought it was easier
@IndyCarAce Maybe if they unified w/in a year or two after the initial split then it could've possibly salvaged indycar racing in the eyes of the public, but it got to a point in the early 2000's where a unification was meaningless b/c the damage had already been done. People after a couple years of 2 dueling series lost interest & stopped watching. After 00-01 both series may as well have just operated separately. They're unified now & nothing has changed, shitty tv ratings & low attendance
5 years later, many of these guys are still in Indycars (Tags, RHR, Wilson, etc.) and three ( da Matta, Seabass, Glock) made it to F1. Sadly, nowadays Dinger enjoys being paid to finished in 32nd place over in nascar along with Hornish.

Wow this was a great race. I love these Lola chassis so much better than the gay ass Dallara's IRL runs, and they're visibly much faster. Poor AJ

@rt2000pilot If today's IndyCars aren't real race cars, then why are the teams (including former CART/CC teams) still racing them?

Marcus Marshall may have been one of the worst Champ Car drivers ever, but I bet he'd still be miles ahead of IndyCar great Milka Duno.

@HollywoodSheen Prolonging the split bankrupted CC in 2008. Why would you rather destroy IndyCar racing than save it with reunification?

Im surprised that the IRL puts these videos up. The Champ Car racing and the crowds put the IRL crap to shame...

These are amazing, but it's a shame there's no timing and scoring on it - it can be a little difficult to follow at times

@lympog
That's the feeling you're getteing at the race track! Pure racing, no numbers ;-)
No offence: I also miss timing and scoring in this video.
