Nursing is the most suck ass occupation a person can have. I made the mistake of getting a BSN, and wasted years of my life getting it. Thank god, the college where I went had a program so I could go back and get a different degree.

Nursing is shit work, you make tons of money for hospitals, doctors, insurance companies, etc, and are treated like dog shit in the process. Three months till graduation, then I throw my BSN in the trash, where it belongs.

Seriously, they need to remove this video. There is NO nursing shortage. I have been putting in application left and right in my home state and boundary states and NOTHING. Not even an interview. I am not a NEW nurse either, I have 3 years experience in skilled nursing care as an LVN. So, please, if you want a job, nursing is not the profession. I should have fun when my loan payments start coming in :-|

There is no shortage of nurses , only qualified nurses. So called nurses are being turned out a dime a dozen by diploma mills, i know iv'e worked with them. As far as that so called nurse in the video is concerned i doubt she knows the difference between salicylic acid and acetaminophen. Focus on the real shortage qualified nurses.

i was going into nursing until i found out that i had to wipe someones else ass and my school goes base on GPA and i change my major to respiratory therapy because there is a wait list for 1 or 2 years and my sister in law is a respiratory therapist and she told me that i get just as much money as being a respiratory therapist than being a nurse and plus i don't have to wipe someones butt. (gross).

in the two yrs that i have been a nurse, wiping ass was only done in nursing school. Once in a blue moon I'll have to do it, but I don't mind. What's funny is that most RRT's get tired of being RT's and guess what, they become nurses. I laugh at RT's because its the same job everyday, at least when I eventually get tired of the ER, I can go to another dept and do something else. Nursing is like a big tree, many branches to choose from. Respiratory is nothing like nursing.

I would love to see obama support the immigration of nurses. Seeing him implement his healthcare reform would and promising quality healthcare would be great. Although his needs to also concentrate on how hospitals will staff for the influx of patients. It takes time to train new nurses, and many are retiring soon:)

it lengthens hospital stay and lead directly and indirectly to about 25,000 deaths annually.

one major cause is NURSE SHORTAGE. with high patient to nurse ratio, nurses do not have time to do hand-washing after patient visits thus carry the disease to others.

Low patient-nurse ratio prevents this from happening.

Can someone tell me why in school and in the books they teach us to call patients: CLIENTS? Perhaps because the healthcare system has profited for year from people's health. We have a very inhumane system going on. Talk about how hard it is to get in a nursing program and how expensive it is to study it.

What if everyone will like to be a nurse? No doctors, secretaries, sellers, lawyers, singers, actress? Everyone different preferences have a place. A nurse might find marvelous to save a life through CPR; alleviate the pain of fractures; treat/prevent dehydration and shock when bloody, nauseous and diarrheas moments attack us. Nursing sucks bigtime, do not go into nursing. If you want to be over worked, treated like a dog, clean up shit, puke, for 12 hours, put dead people in body bags, see people suffer at the hands of psychotic family members who want let them go. If you want to help pick up 500 pound urine soaked people off the floor. If you want to deal with power tripping docs, asshole managers and hear the word budget several times a day. Being stressesd out to the breaking point, this is it.

Sad but true. Zheadmon's comments that is. There are a lot of good nurses out there who want to help, it's like a calling for most of us. Unfortunately, this profession needs to evolve. In my opinion, this is the only career in the world where you have to deal with so many things all at once. It is back breaking as it is mind numbing. At the end of your shift (12 hrs) you are left to wonder why you chose to become a nurse.

wether the salary is good or not depends on if you've ever had any money. to poorer people it is a lot depends on your experience in life. believe me you will earn every penny. good luck .you deserve a good salary. you are responsible for peoples lives. if you were a plumber or mechanic you'd make $75 an hour.care for someone in their hour of need..start ing salary may be $25-30 an hour.

Why have a shortage when there are a lot of immigrants applying for nursing jobs but lack documents. In fact, there are a number of students pending to get their licenses due to some limitations on some shit. Nursing educators have high standards and its not that easy to get in. They have a lot of requirement bullshit and score shit minimum for acceptance.

acctualy you can find a cushy office nurse job doing mostly paperwork, like in the nursing home or home healt or smth, while CNA'S do all the nasty job. It all depends on where you work. In some shitty hospital you might have to do all this crap, but if it's a better hospital it could be better. You never know.
