Kirk totally botched the intro! He sounded liked Ace Frehley for thirty seconds or so. Then it got better (surprisingly) for a few moments, then once again degraded into a horrible "stock" (as Metallica likes to say) metal solo which was the final Coup de gras to Hendrix's immortal and beautiful song. A butcher could have done a better job with a few strands of sinew and some bones!

In most cases I would say "don't touch Jimi's work" when hearing somebody covering one of his songs while implementing his own licks, because most guitarists don't do that well and don't catch the sould of the song. But Kirk's version, oh well, it was pretty decent.

Playing fast is fine but only when the song requires it. Little wing is really more like a short piece of poetry with Jimi's beautiful guitar flowing over the whole song. Thankfully there are many modern day guitarists who understand what covering a Jimi Hendrix song means.

There's so many that cover this tune and you can't even tell its little wing.. at least Kirk left in some of the "feel" of the tune.. It ain't Hendrix or SRV, but the fact that Kirk covered it is a very nice compliment to Jimi's work.

Based on sound alone,(can't be absolutely cetain without seeing it), this is not Hendrix. It's too heavy and topedog couldn't be more right about the sound of the amp. Also the soloing is miles away from anything Hendrix would do. Hendrix's solos flow very nicely with the music, that does not.
