In car GPS is a reciever it recieves the signal and through computation triangulates your position.
This is called telemetry where a radio signal is used to define your position.
I can't believe you allowed this man to mislead all these people.

yep, don´t trust this guy, GPS does not send signals up anyhow... Howstuffworks is usually quite accurate, but this time they blew it big-time... Also, this video only explains how the camry GPS works, nothing is being said about the GPS technology whatsoever!

i dont know ppl my phone shows that i cant accses gps i can only use bluetooth but there is an option to use internet positioning ..... i dont know ppl i realy dont.

You need access to 4 or more satellites to get a location, not 3. The extra one is to calculate how much time delay the others have. Also, NOTHING is transmitted to the GPS satellites. The calculation of where you are and what direction to go to get to your destination is entirely calculated within the computer in the car.
