When Congress decides to take away a program that helps the citizens of America, and takes care of what they have screwed up, its time for Congress to be overthrown. It's during these hard times that AmeriCorps is needed, not just when they think they can afford to keep it and their pay. Poverty, natural disasters, ecological hardship are all on the rise, and when they try to say that it doesn't matter, and they don't care about the people that make up this country, we stop caring for them!
It makes me so sad to think that at a time when we need it more than ever, Congress may eliminate funding for AmeriCorps. I have seen firsthand the incredible impact AmeriCorps members make in local communities. Losing AmeriCorps would be a serious blow and leave a gap that could not be filled, especially given the state of our economy. SAVE AMERICORPS!
