@ktmrider53 if you have a 390 with 250hp you have a watered down one with a 2bbl carb and single exhaust ..ford also made 390's with 401 hp and 427 ft tq ...show me a nissan that has 427 ft tq .and if you are still running a 390 ,,it aint that bad seeing the last year for the ford 390 was way back in 1976 ...1970 for car use ..so a 390 is almost 40 years out of production

@390merc65 Toyota made a 1 ton truck. It had a 22re motor, it was a dully and they were flat beds or a box truck. Toyota has a line up of cars and trucks that are diesel. No there not in the US but there out there. There is people restoring old Celica cars all the time. Those cars where quick if built right. I will continue to buy Japan made cars. I own a few American cars. at this point. 2003 6.0 Vortec GMC dually, 2006 Jeep wrangler with dana 60's and 6 inch lift with 35's.

I bought my truck for 26,999. A Ford Raptor is around 50k. I could spend 10 grand on my motor and have it push 450hp. Then the other 13k on long travel and handle better than any stock Ford Raptor on the market. Plus a SHIT load faster. My truck stock smashes them because of power to weight ratio.

My 1988 Toyota 4runner is hard to dent, only leaks oil because of the fact that it needs a new oil pan gasket (Every fucking car's oil pan gasket is going to go out by 262,600 miles), its doesnt rattle, or tap, it is very cheap to fix, and is made a good 10X better then my friend's 1988 ford ranger.

Pennsylvania doesn't have many people, especially compared with California and believe me, there are many times more Toyotas here than there. I can tell you right now, that this truck, has no competition. If you want to say that the Tundra sucks, that can be semi-valid because it certainly is not the best in its class. These, you can't compare these to anything else in its class. I can boldly say that Toyota makes the BEST compact/midsized pick ups EVER! Nothing else comes close.
@taitai907 Tundra is deffinately 2nd best in class. Only bested by the RAM in my opinion. So I wouldnt say it sucks, but yes, Toyota deffinately has the best compact trucks. They have had the best selling small 4x4 since about 1981 and now the best selling small truck period is the Taco!!

Toyotas have no problems with that. Domestics quickly get rusty on everything under the hood and on the transmission. A lot of WD-40 is needed to prevent that. Sorry...that's the way it is.

My family also used to live in Minnesota. Their domestics had a lot of trouble starting in the snow there. Toyotas certainly struggled, but started every time. Let's get a few things straight. Domestics AREN'T crap. Many vehicles by Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are really good. They just aren't as reliable as Toyota. You may have a large junk yard, but I've been to dozens of small ones. Toyotas at each one are either really old or really trashed. Can't say the same about the domestics.

@390merc65 Our Toyotas didn't need any choke adjustments. We love Toyotas because we had trouble with our domestics, not the other way around. And the fact that you've only driven Fords all your life really shows how much you know, no offense. I'm just saying, imports last longer than domestics in any environment, including fire (literally), salt water (completely submerged), and, my favorite, free fall (more than 200 ft).

Why aren't there as many Toyotas having these problems? The first video of a blown Toyota engine you see...starts... Show me a domestic that can do that. Toyotas not perfect, some models do have crappy frames *cough* Tundra *cough*, not all. However, unless pampered, no domestic drive train will outlast a Toyota.

@390merc65 I don't want any mudslinging. But I've been to Pennsylvania and it's a "buy American" place. As I said, until you buy yourself a Toyota or at least come to the Bay Area, you haven't seen anything yet. I speak from personal experience, not just Top Gear. I've never had any blown engines, but I've seen more on domestics here, where there are a lot more cars. I don't know about you, but the vast majority of people who know anything about cars know that Toyota is more reliable.

@390merc65 Conversely, my family had to have their domestics towed. Toyotas only gave us this problem twice, once because of eventual engine failure and twice because of an accident. I will say one thing, older domestics were far more durable than now. However, Toyota, so far, has kept a consistently reliable power train (maybe not frame). But still, I can bet that a '77 Toyota truck will outlast a '77 domestic assuming proper care is provided.

@390merc65 Toyota made a 1 ton truck. It had a 22re motor, it was a dully and they were flat beds or a box truck. Toyota has a line up of cars and trucks that are diesel. No there not in the US but there out there. There is people restoring old Celica cars all the time. Those cars where quick if built right. I will continue to buy Japan made cars. My 1988 Toyota 4runner is hard to dent, only leaks oil because of the fact that it needs a new oil pan gasket (Every fucking car's oil pan gasket is going to go out by 262,600 miles), its doesnt rattle, or tap, it is very cheap to fix, and is made a good 10X better then my friend's 1988 ford ranger.

I can tell you right now, that this truck, has no competition. If you want to say that the Tundra sucks, that can be semi-valid because it certainly is not the best in its class. My family also used to live in Minnesota. Their domestics had a lot of trouble starting in the snow there. Toyotas certainly struggled, but started every time. Let's get a few things straight. Domestics AREN'T crap. Many vehicles by Ford, Chevy, and Dodge are really good. They just aren't as reliable as Toyota. You may have a large junk yard, but I've been to dozens of small ones. Toyotas at each one are either really old or really trashed. Can't say the same about the domestics.

@taitai907 if they had trouble starting in winter i will bet a simple choke adjustment was just needed,,my 77 ford start fast everytime ..it actually starts faster then a fuel inject vehicle....why does it seem to me that anyone who loves toyotas are the ones that seem to be the one with the most trouble with domestics??..i have owned nothing but fords my whole life and they serve me very well ...and its not luck..i'm just saying imports do not last in a snow state

@390merc65 Our Toyotas didn't need any choke adjustments. We love Toyotas because we had trouble with our domestics, not the other way around. And the fact that you've only driven Fords all your life really shows how much you know, no offense. I'm just saying, imports last longer than domestics in any environment, including fire (literally), salt water (completely submerged), and, my favorite, free fall (more than 200 ft).

@390merc65 Youtube Ford/Chevy/Dodge drive shafts braking. Youtube GM clutches shattering. Youtube blown engine. You will find a lot of domestics having these problem. Why aren't there as many Toyotas having these problems? The first video of a blown Toyota engine you see...starts... Show me a domestic that can do that. Toyotas not perfect, some models do have crappy frames *cough* Tundra *cough*, not all. However, unless pampered, no domestic drive train will outlast a Toyota.

@taitai907 no matter what you say ...i still see..and drive older american vehicles ..then i see older imports ...and it is nothing new to see a rod blown out and the motor still run ...i have seen that for decades longer then any import was ever on U S soil ..my grand marquis survived a bad garage fire...it is still on the road and that was real , no camera crew , no tv..no nothing just a beat up and singed car and it still runs fine ,,just cuzz toyota made it doesnt mean its any better

@390merc65 I don't want any mudslinging. But I've been to Pennsylvania and it's a "buy American" place. As I said, until you buy yourself a Toyota or at least come to the Bay Area, you haven't seen anything yet. I speak from personal experience, not just Top Gear. I've never had any blown engines, but I've seen more on domestics here, where there are a lot more cars. I don't know about you, but the vast majority of people who know anything about cars know that Toyota is more reliable.

@taitai907 well you cant sell that stuff to me about toyota's being so much better....you can throw all the consumer reports at me and car and driver, but i still find it hard to believe all of this hype about toyota's when i am out picking one up off the streets and back to the dealerships..and all of their service bays are full of toyota's getting work done..and its not all just oil changes and wiper blades ..lexus with a motor out..tucoma with a frame swap or tranny out of it

I've already told you about my entire family's experience. But, in addition to that, it's almost common sense that Toyota is exceptionally reliable. Almost everyone knows it. You're one of the few who refuses to believe it. If you read or watch any review of any Toyota vehicle, Toyota's legendary durability will usually be mentioned.

@390merc65 Conversely, my family had to have their domestics towed. Toyotas only gave us this problem twice, once because of eventual engine failure and twice because of an accident. I will say one thing, older domestics were far more durable than now. However, Toyota, so far, has kept a consistently reliable power train (maybe not frame). But still, I can bet that a '77 Toyota truck will outlast a '77 domestic assuming proper care is provided.

Ford is the only 1 based on reports and numbers that seems to have pulled there head out of there ass with the f250 and 350 trucks. though anything can break these trucks seem to be quite the effective work horse in the past decad.

@taitai907 its not just my experience ,,this goes all the way back to ww2 with buying fords in my family ...and i dont whole heartedly buy into that superior toyota propaganda for the fact of my own experience ..and the web site's devoted to ppl complaining about how toyota screwed them over or how their car is nothing but trouble..my neighbor had a 8 year old accord..only 135k on it and its on its second tranny .yet my 90 grand marquis with over 300k still runs fine with no major brake downs
