I agree with Nostalgia Critic; The Dark Knight spent too much time talking, like the audience couldn't figure it all out on its own. Batman (1989) was moodier, more mysterious, and had a foreboding atmosphere. When they reboot this franchise once more, I hope it goes less into the preachy, hyper-realistic realm that the Nolan films did but keeps their spirit.
The second I saw "better overall story" I thought Dark Knight hands down. But then you chose Batman??!! Batman was so fucking boring and Nickleson just embarrassed himself in that role I didn't like him one bit. This time nostalgia critic was clearly being a little biased towards Batman. He CLEARLY loves it and felt as if he had to do those comparison answers in a pattern. Batman, DK, Batman, DK, Batman
It's Chris Nolans fault for Christian Bales voice he purposely dubbed it in editing to make it sound 10x more deep and dark. Everyone sucks on Chris Nolans balls and bashes Christian Bale for the voice when they don't even realize the very balls in their mouth are the balls of the gentlemen responsible for that awful voice.
In my opinion, In The Dark Knight there is a philosiphy behind it all, and if you are trying to get the whole point of the story to a wide audience some people wont understand those concepts. Thus I think analyzing is worth it to make a pretty darn awesome movie.
Why you didn´t described the music scores? Because i ´think that is an important point. They are so different. Danny Elfmans old Batman-Score kicked fucking ass! It is one of the greatest classic soundtracks ever written. "The Dark Knight" has a good score as well. This time just... modern. Yeah. Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard do a good job, it is very good music and i like both composers. But, i prefer actually Danny Elfmans music a little more. It is just so freaking awesome and original.
I still say I loved both films, but Keaton to me was a great Batman, he scared the hell out me when I was a kid but now I love him as Batman, and I nearly pissed my self when the Critic said: "That didn't Happen"
I personally think the older movie had better action scenes as far as the actual FIGHTING part comes. Christian Bale couldn't move enough in that suit to really make use of all that martial arts talent. He was getting beat on when Joker broke into that party. Mike's fighting was more martial arts like. BUT the OTHER forms of action scenes, yes, those were better in Dark Knight. Still, However, the 89 Batman for the win.
i'm going with 89 also. does he really need to do that voice. in TDKR we're gonna need subtitles because we can't understand what Batman or Bane will be saying
Great video. I also like the Batman of 80s a little more then the Dark Knight, but I have also to say that the Dark Knight was a good movie, but my favourite Batman movie is Batman returns.
I disagree, I say Dark Night is better. I really think giving the point to the old one for Bob was a bit silly. I say the biggest problem with Dark Night was Batman's voice.
The dark knight is one of the most overrated and over hyped movies ever. I thought it was truly awful and a very boring cast of characters,in saying that Heath's Joker was about the only thing somewhat interesting about the movie. To me though it was just a cgi show but it has so many fan boys and girls. Jack was way better though as was Michael Keaton as Batman, don't get me started on that ametur bale
I don't know wether I actually like Dark Knight or I just like Joker. I literaly fell asleep in the theatre for like 15 min till Joker came on. I just thought the whole movie (Like Batman Begins) was boring as shit! Joker was badass, Two-Face was cool and clever (I stayed awake for him too and was surprised he even came out) Christian Bale... He sucks. He doesn't even play Bruce Wayne right. Bruce is modest and generous and is well liked. Bale was an obnoxious show off who everyone disliked.
@Christopher3772 Um...isn't that the whole point of Bruce Wayne? You know, being that one obnoxious dickwad who had all the money and all the girls just to distract the fact that he was actually a vigilante by night?
@annie10103 No, because he never was a dickwad. He was very modest, generous, donating money to God knows how many charities and offering alot of poor people jobs. That and everybody liked him because he was a nice guy (By the way, that's why people never suspected him, because Bruce Wayne is nice). And he had very few women in his life, alot of women want him, but he wasn't a playboy, in fact he would usually make up an excuse to get away from women. Like I said, he was modest and uncocky.
@Christopher3772 Meh, I always thought of Bruce Wayne being the arrogant bachelor that everyone liked close up, but then back chatted about as soon as they were far enough away. I mean he's good natured, but a guy with billions of dollars is usually seen as a bit of an ass. No offense if you're a billionaire or something. I think that's what Bale was trying to pull off, a new kind of Bruce Wayne that acts like a total dick a lot of the time. Or maybe that was just him.
@annie10103 Maybe, but even then he sucked at it. Bale is very mediocre, Idk if it was him or the writers. But yeah, I didn't like The Dark Knight's Batman or Bruce Wayne. Plus Bale doesn't fit the looks. Batman's supposed to be tall n big. Bale looks average height n skronny. I'm all for originality, but with all respect Batman should've been more or less the same as the comic character/ animated series version. The armor is cool though, I would just change the cowl.
@Christopher3772 Whoa, whoa. Bale is not a mediocre actor. If you don't believe me, watch American Psycho. That was some straight up shit your pants scary acting.
I liked the Dark Knight's Batman and Bruce Wayne so I guess it just comes down to opinion, like NC critic said.
And by the way, Bale had six months to bring his weight back up from anorexic after filming the machinist. So I think that's a pretty big achievement.
@annie10103 I guess ur right. Idk I jest personally don't think Bale was a good choice. I think Paul Telfer should've been given a shot, He's not well known, he's built n handsome n tall, He basically has Bruce Wayne's looks. He would just have to be trained to have his personality. Other than that, the movie's great. Joker and Two Face were great choices, Harvey was a little more whiney than threatning, but still he's good lol. But jest cus of Bale n his voice thing, I give it 8.5 out of 10.
@Christopher3772 Yeah I googled Paul Telfer, and I suppose he does have that Bruce quality about him. But my problem is that he looks a bit too young, and he looks like that guy from Twilight. You know, the werewolf dude. That kind of put me off. But, yeah I agree. Especially with the Harvey thing. Little whiny, but still some great acting. Thanks for letting me know your opinions :)
@annie10103 Fa sho sho, hit me up anytime. N duh!!!! That's the point! Bruce is supposed to look young! Well at least for these movies cus it's taking place when he's in his early 30's lol :)
The end was awesome. I prefer the dark knight because the original is just too slow. It has a good plot and the actors are great, but the drak knight is just better to me.
But for what it is worth they both were great!!! In fact when I turned 9 my parents threw a kickass batman party where all neighbor hood kids and I went to go see it an ate mad batman cake.... Nolan's movies are better though -he-he
It shouldnt be to comicy..... The batman comics are dark. Bruce Wayne struggels with emotional blows when the second robbin gets killed and bat girl gets paralyzed from joker. Along with other events that take place. Thats why I like Nolans take on the whole thing it sets the tone of how comic really is. If want see a comicy Batman go create a batman on ice show for the kiddys to see.
Noway bro, Dark Knight by far.... Burton did egh job, It was way to comicy. However I do agree on the batman/bruce wayne choice. Keaton's performance was very settle and dindt rock a weird cancer voice. I kinda sorta agree with you on the suit... I liked dark Knight suit but hated how the mask looked. Im curious what the new suit and take on batman going to be on the reboot
Good lord really NC? The best part about TDK was that it took a comic book story and made it edgy and deep. How could you possibly complain about the way characters analyze things? Thats exactly what makes it GOOD.
N.C, but i have to disagree and say i so perfer The Dark Knight becaz of how much depth and character they put into the movie, again maybe its caz i wasnt old enough to see Batman in the thearter (hell i wasnt even born than) but as a hardcore Batman fan, it just wasnt as great to me as everyone claims it is, it was ok at best for me
The Dark Knight is suppose to explain how Bruce is conflicting with being Batman, thats why they analyze everything in the movie, the supporting cast was amazing, espically how much character they gave to Alfred, Gordon and Lucious, the Joker being a complete mystery is spot on. Tim Burton never picked up a comic book so no wonder no one had character excpet Batman and Joker, i completely didnt even know Gordon was in it till i saw it a second time since he was barely in it. i respect ur opionin
I like both but the 89 version to me feels like a comic book... which is why I like it. Don't get me wrong I think TDK is great but I hated how the ending dragged with the boat scene. However, that chase scene was awesome. Heath Ledger was a great joker. In the end though I prefer the 89 because it was closer to the comics. Oh well still great.
Honestly for me, its The Dark Knight. I loved Batman 89, but it just didn't seem right. Nicholson's Joker didnt feel threatening at all, just very goofy. It works in the animated series and comics, but in live action, not so much. As for batman, TDK's is better mainly because how in 89 version, he loses that mysterious and just practically kills Joker. Batman will never let anyone die, good or bad. Sure there's Begins where he doesn't save Ra's Al Ghoul. Also on voice: Batman always had it raspy
Critic, I love ya. (Figuartively, I know it really isn't him) But this was cleary biased. Don't get me wrong, I love both films, but especially in the Supporting Cast section it just did feel like he made up a reason for 89 to win. He didn't even bring up the likes of Morgan Freeman or Eric Roberts. Sorry, but I'm going to say that Bob especially doesn't override Morgan Freeman, and it didn't really look like it was a draw (TDK winning 2 of 4 math-ups excluding a draw) before he brought in Bob.
I prefer Batman 89 as well, but TDK is still a good movie. There's no point in trying to tell Doug TDK is better. He already made up his mind and it's his opinion. You're free to disagree with him, but telling him he's wrong about what he prefers sounds a bit childish.
I like how Nicholson gave the audience a chance to escape reality, and that's what made him an attractive character. Whereas Ledger took you out of reality and showed it to you from his perspective, in a psychological sense which is what we liked about him :)
keaton is the better batman but bale is the better bruce wayne. overall, i enjoyed the dark knight more. sure, it's flawed, but i think that's because christopher nolan is too ambitious with characters and plots. he needs to hire someone to trim his scripts down. batman suffers from being directed by tim burton. he's had a few good movies, but he was a one trick pony and his schtick is finally dead. notice how he hasn't made anything worth watching since 99?
Best supporting cast: The Dark Knight (I'm sorry Bob, Oldman's Gordon owns for me)
Best Action Scenes: The Dark Knight
Best Story: Batman (but not for NC's reasons like "because it's classic") The main reason it's because I think it's a very intresting story that shows how unique and intese is the Yin and Yang between Batman and Joker. Plus, I'm a guy who prefers fantasy than realism, in fact I always watch movies to escape reality.
@hmc117 Well I respect your opinion, but your treating Batman like its one of the worst movies ever made, listen I love both movies, and I actually do think that The Dark Knight is a better made film, but its not WAY better in every way possible, what I mean is, atmosphere Batman has tons of it, but the Dark Knight falls short, so not in every way possible, aslo Keaton is a better Batman, but not by far though. And remember The Dark Knight wouldn't be here without Batman, so give it credit.
@Truk44441 I never treated Batman like it's one of the worst movies ever, i just said TDK is WAY better, and it is. And Batman has a gothic atmosphere but TDK has the feel of a crime epic and looks really big, which i prefer. And Bale is the best Batman by FAR, i agree that he does go overboard with the voice in SOME scenes of TDK, but it makes sense and he's easily the most threatening Batman ever.
@hmc117 Alright I did over do it when I said "worst", and I also like the crime feel of The Dark Knight, and like I said I do like the Dark Knight more, its just I don't think its that much better. To me both films a 10/10, 5 stars outta 5, whatever. So no offense to you I just kinda took it the wrong way when you said "WAY" better.
@hmc117 Best batsuit ever?! HAHAHA that batsuit sucked. It almost completely hid the bat symbol like Nolan was embarassed that he was directing Batman. it just looked stupid. I would have preffered the Animated Series/Arkham Asylum look.
@tvirus1234 I have seen both Batman AND Batman Returns (Returns is just fucked up)and i never said they were not dark, they were dark AND campy. You can be both at the same time, you know. And Batman is a night stalker, a symbol of fear, in the reality based films he's not gonna run around at night with a bright yellow logo stuck to his chest.
@tvirus1234 And you are calling me 9? you, the guy who likes Burtons campy 90's movie? you are calling me a child for liking an adult, dark crime epic of a comic book movie? ok then. Idiot.
@hmc117 Campy my ass. That movie was friggin dark and had twisted humor. Dark Knight should have been called Law and Order: Gotham City. Because that's all it was. Dark Knight was WAY too dark (pardon the pun) and depressing. You obviously haven't seen Batman OR Batman: Returns.
@hmc117 It's a close call. But i love the older film. I love the new one also, but not as much. The new one would win, if Batman actually looked better. I'm looking for a more horrific batman, a dark, mysterious character that speaks less. I love the action scenes in the new one.
I guess everyone wants to put a Pele-Maradona debate in here !!! You can NOT compare these 2 movies : both are very good, correspond to their periodes, still modern and are fun entertaining... the perfect batman movie is by mixing the best elements... so in Soccer, Maradona good, Pele beter but George Best ! so STOP comparing 2 diferent styles !!!!
I like both movies and they are both good in their own ways, If you like good ol' superhero movies with likable characters thought out fight scenes. and a good plot line, Batman is your movie. If you like more of an action feel, with in depth characters, and more of a back story th TDK is for you. I like TDK for the exact reason NC didn't. I like how the characters were in depth and that you knew too much about them. Especially the Joker. I just like that I know where they are coming from.
Can't we just settle with the fact that Batman and TDK are incomparable, and it all boils down to personal preference? The Critic prefers Batman, end of story.
If you want a high velocity joyride of an action movie with a clever script, you'll probably love TDK.
If you want a more somber, gothic movie which relies more on atmosphere and subtlety, as well as a surreal tone, Batman is the best choice, as well as my preferred version.
They are both terrific movies in their own respective ways.
the dark knight wins for me definitley, but batman isnt a bad movie its ok, michael keaton is excellent and jack nicholson is a lot of fun, but i dont find the movie anything special, just avearge. the dark knight is outstanding however
I've never seen Batman, and I would watch it, but from what I've heard they gave the Joker a backstory, and even told us his real name, and that is something you do not do. The mystery behind the Joker is one of the many things that we love about him, and I could never take a film seriously that didn't respect that. So yeah, Dark Knight ftw
@shadic74 Don't give up on it just yet. Remember, it was Burton's Batman movies that gave us a darker atmosphere than the 1960's tv show eventually led to Batman TAS. Sure, I don't like that the Joker has a backstory, but that doesn't mean that the entire movie isn't worth watching.
@shadic74 Agreed, and it was Joker on Batman that killed Bruce's parents, not Joe Chill, that's not right, Joe Chill will always be the one who created the Batman, the new Joker, initially i thought he was just an anarchist, but, after watching it again (who wouldn't?) i saw that he was mor ethan that, so Dark Knight ftw.
i love the original more but i dont like that joker was his parents killer instead of some anonymous embodyment of evil (i know his name was joe chill but i dont care he was better nameless)
I never watched Batman as a kid, so i have NO nostalgia for the movie. So, The Dark Knight is EASILY the better film, Burton's film sucks balls compared to Batman Begins and TDK.
keaton beats able as batman while bale beats keaton as bruce wayne
ledger beats nicholson as joker since the joker should never have a backstory
supporting cast in dark knight beats the one in batman(michael caine ftw)
action in dark knight beats action in batman
and the plot is a tie
but even though the numbers say dark knight should win seeing as the dark knight( or a lot of other good superhero movies for that matter wouldnt have been made without batman i pronounce a tie
@itzjaimetime ah he got his revenge, but thats the whole point. Should he have it at all??? The comic says no, after all he still dosen't even know who did it.
Considering only one man in the world could ride that bat cycle in The Dark Knight (and he happens to be french....the french bailing ppl out, only in batman), OF COURSE (in the style of Raul Julia) the action sequences are better.
I really can't give the better story to Batman for one very big reason: the Joker killed his parents!! Instead of building a real antagonistic rivalry based on interaction, we are given a lame 3rd act plot device where Batman learns this is the same guy that he has already hated sense he was 10. Gee that was lucky, good thing he turned out to be his first major enemy. That is lazy lazy writing. At the end he is face to face with the man who killed his parents, in that sense it's anti-climatic.
I never noticed the "they analyze everything in The Dark Knight" thing until this video. And it kind of ruined to movie for me. Thanks.
And, I might get hate for this but I just gotta know, does anyone else think that The Dark Knight Rises isn;t going to live up to expectations? I don't mean that as that movie will be bad, I mean it as the movie has an Everest level of hype and it can't possibly reach that.
Actually, something odd that I've just recnetly noticed: When Rachel Dawson was killed, Bruce seemed more distraught about what happened to Dent than her. Just goes with what NC was saying about her not really being interesting.
Tim Burtons batman films are too slapstick for my taste. I know they are great adaptations of the original comics and are particularly dark in contrast to them. I prefer the re-imagining more, just because there is that explaination. We've all heard of insane people committing random acts of violence or terrorism so Chris Nolan's Joker seems more believable to me whereas Jack Nicholson's portrayal reminds me Bush.
I kinda like the new Alfred, cause he really brought some good points, like some criminals are doing crime for money or in his words "Some men just want to watch the world burn."
@thefreshprince72107 - I'd be lying I didn't laugh at that part, but if a fanboy (younger) who likes the 80's film better than the dark knight just because of that very same reason? Then I would pretty much facepalmed in all seriousness.
Alfred in Batman 1989: "oh Bruce needs to be nice to girls who are also reporter's and would kill for a story like ,Batman is Bruce Wayne,... I'll let them in the batcave, because I think they'll get married" GOOD JOB ALFRED!
@pokemaster123ism I know. And most people that ask why a fan of Marvel is prasing Batman, ususlly need to get over the fact that Marvel fans love Batman.
Bale OWND the role as Batman, he really made it feel like Batman and Bruce Wayne were to very differant people. Michael made Batman and bruce wayne feel one and the same, and gave no depth to the character at all, in other words. He was Generic!
Batman 1989: did it even show or tell you about Batman's origin at all? did it show or tell you how he lerned all the martial arts that he does? NO!
Batman Begins: Batman's origin was told in all depths of the character, showed you how he trained for 7-8 years in martial arts and trained to put the fear of God in the hearts of criminals, and disguised his voice so people he loved/talked to wouldn't know it was him.
The Dark Knight's Batman was in every way better than the batman in 1989.
That's one thing that kind of irks me about Nolan's Batman movies. The themes and ideas are always spelled out so blatantly. Has Nolan ever heard of subtlety?
NostalgiaCriticFan4 Your video sucks. Be more realistic about it. The only thing better about the batman 89 film was batmans voice. And you say The Dark Knight costume was big and bolky, sure if you keep showing clips from the first part of the moive. Later on in the Dark Knight they gave batman a slightly different and better look One that doesnt look so big and bolky. U never even said how damn good Harvey Dent was. The 89 film was cool in its time but Dark Kight is way better and realistice.
@MrUnsugarcoated You're barking up the wrong tree dude. read the description. By the way, saying his video sucks just because he has a different opinion than yours is a good way to showcase how big of an ass you are.
That's why Jeremy Jahns kicked your ass in youtube movie criticism

I have to say I like the new one more cause the story is a lot faster and more stuff in it.
Beside making the new movie like the old one may make it a great movie but bring nothing new to the table, is just a waste of time.
So if we all open minded then we would get lots more movies.

Christopher3772 3 weeks ago
@Christopher3772 Whoa, whoa. Bale is not a mediocre actor. If you don't believe me, watch American Psycho. That was some straight up shit your pants scary acting.
I liked the Dark Knight's Batman and Bruce Wayne so I guess it just comes down to opinion, like NC critic said.
And by the way, Bale had six months to bring his weight back up from anorexic after filming the machinist. So I think that's a pretty big achievement.
I agree with your views on the cowl though.

Christopher3772 3 weeks ago
@Christopher3772 Yeah I googled Paul Telfer, and I suppose he does have that Bruce quality about him. But my problem is that he looks a bit too young, and he looks like that guy from Twilight. You know, the werewolf dude. That kind of put me off. But, yeah I agree. Especially with the Harvey thing. Little whiny, but still some great acting. Thanks for letting me know your opinions :)
annie10103 3 weeks ago
@annie10103 Fa sho sho, hit me up anytime. N duh!!!! That's the point! Bruce is supposed to look young! Well at least for these movies cus it's taking place when he's in his early 30's lol :)
Christopher3772 3 weeks ago
@Christopher3772 Sure :)
I always imagined Bruce in his forties (like in TDKR) but I agree on Telfer looking like a younger version.

Good lord really NC? The best part about TDK was that it took a comic book story and made it edgy and deep. How could you possibly complain about the way characters analyze things? Thats exactly what makes it GOOD.
nahor88 1 month ago
N.C, but i have to disagree and say i so perfer The Dark Knight becaz of how much depth and character they put into the movie, again maybe its caz i wasnt old enough to see Batman in the thearter (hell i wasnt even born than) but as a hardcore Batman fan, it just wasnt as great to me as everyone claims it is, it was ok at best for me
Reach008 1 month ago
The Dark Knight is suppose to explain how Bruce is conflicting with being Batman, thats why they analyze everything in the movie, the supporting cast was amazing, espically how much character they gave to Alfred, Gordon and Lucious, the Joker being a complete mystery is spot on. Tim Burton never picked up a comic book so no wonder no one had character excpet Batman and Joker, i completely didnt even know Gordon was in it till i saw it a second time since he was barely in it. i respect ur opionin
Reach008 1 month ago
I like both but the 89 version to me feels like a comic book... which is why I like it. Don't get me wrong I think TDK is great but I hated how the ending dragged with the boat scene. However, that chase scene was awesome. Heath Ledger was a great joker. In the end though I prefer the 89 because it was closer to the comics. Oh well still great.
PrincessAries86 1 month ago
Honestly for me, its The Dark Knight. I loved Batman 89, but it just didn't seem right. Nicholson's Joker didnt feel threatening at all, just very goofy. It works in the animated series and comics, but in live action, not so much. As for batman, TDK's is better mainly because how in 89 version, he loses that mysterious and just practically kills Joker. Batman will never let anyone die, good or bad. Sure there's Begins where he doesn't save Ra's Al Ghoul. Also on voice: Batman always had it raspy
Kyte27 1 month ago

14597ojai 1 month ago
keaton is the better batman but bale is the better bruce wayne. overall, i enjoyed the dark knight more. sure, it's flawed, but i think that's because christopher nolan is too ambitious with characters and plots. he needs to hire someone to trim his scripts down. batman suffers from being directed by tim burton. he's had a few good movies, but he was a one trick pony and his schtick is finally dead. notice how he hasn't made anything worth watching since 99?

For me:
Best Batman: Michael Keaton
Best Joker: Jack Nicholson
Best supporting cast: The Dark Knight (I'm sorry Bob, Oldman's Gordon owns for me)
Best Action Scenes: The Dark Knight
Best Story: Batman (but not for NC's reasons like "because it's classic") The main reason it's because I think it's a very intresting story that shows how unique and intese is the Yin and Yang between Batman and Joker. Plus, I'm a guy who prefers fantasy than realism, in fact I always watch movies to escape reality.

@Truk44441 In every way possible.
hmc117 1 month ago
@hmc117 Well I respect your opinion, but your treating Batman like its one of the worst movies ever made, listen I love both movies, and I actually do think that The Dark Knight is a better made film, but its not WAY better in every way possible, what I mean is, atmosphere Batman has tons of it, but the Dark Knight falls short, so not in every way possible, aslo Keaton is a better Batman, but not by far though. And remember The Dark Knight wouldn't be here without Batman, so give it credit.
Truk44441 1 month ago
@Truk44441 I never treated Batman like it's one of the worst movies ever, i just said TDK is WAY better, and it is. And Batman has a gothic atmosphere but TDK has the feel of a crime epic and looks really big, which i prefer. And Bale is the best Batman by FAR, i agree that he does go overboard with the voice in SOME scenes of TDK, but it makes sense and he's easily the most threatening Batman ever.
hmc117 1 month ago
@hmc117 Alright I did over do it when I said "worst", and I also like the crime feel of The Dark Knight, and like I said I do like the Dark Knight more, its just I don't think its that much better. @hmc117 Best batsuit ever?! HAHAHA that batsuit sucked. It almost completely hid the bat symbol like Nolan was embarassed that he was directing Batman. it just looked stupid. I would have preffered the Animated Series/Arkham Asylum look.
tvirus1234 1 month ago
@tvirus1234 I have seen both Batman AND Batman Returns (Returns is just fucked up)and i never said they were not dark, they were dark AND campy. You can be both at the same time, you know. And Batman is a night stalker, a symbol of fear, in the reality based films he's not gonna run around at night with a bright yellow logo stuck to his chest.
hmc117 1 month ago
@hmc117 True. That's why I prefer something similar to the Animated Series version
tvirus1234 1 month ago

hmc117 1 month ago
@hmc117 Campy my ass. That movie was friggin dark and had twisted humor. Dark Knight should have been called Law and Order: Gotham City. Because that's all it was. Dark Knight was WAY too dark (pardon the pun) and depressing. You obviously haven't seen Batman OR Batman: Returns.

I guess everyone wants to put a Pele-Maradona debate in here !!! You can NOT compare these 2 movies : both are very good, correspond to their periodes, still modern and are fun entertaining... the perfect batman movie is by mixing the best elements... so in Soccer, Maradona good, Pele beter but George Best ! so STOP comparing 2 diferent styles !!!!
cherryblossompath 1 month ago

I've never seen Batman, and I would watch it, but from what I've heard they gave the Joker a backstory, and even told us his real name, and that is something you do not do. The mystery behind the Joker is one of the many things that we love about him, and I could never take a film seriously that didn't respect that. So yeah, Dark Knight ftw
shadic74 1 month ago
@shadic74 Don't give up on it just yet. Remember, it was Burton's Batman movies that gave us a darker atmosphere than the 1960's tv show eventually led to Batman TAS. Sure, I don't like that the Joker has a backstory, but that doesn't mean that the entire movie isn't worth watching.
LaSenoritaManzana 1 month ago
@shadic74 Agreed, and it was Joker on Batman that killed Bruce's parents, not Joe Chill, that's not right, Joe Chill will always be the one who created the Batman, the new Joker, initially i thought he was just an anarchist, but, after watching it again (who wouldn't?) i saw that he was mor ethan that, so Dark Knight ftw.

keaton beats able as batman while bale beats keaton as bruce wayne
ledger beats nicholson as joker since the joker should never have a backstory
supporting cast in dark knight beats the one in batman(michael caine ftw)
action in dark knight beats action in batman
and the plot is a tie
but even though the numbers say dark knight should win seeing as the dark knight( or a lot of other good superhero movies for that matter wouldnt have been made without batman i pronounce a tie

At the end he is face to face with the man who killed his parents, in that sense it's anti-climatic.
drhploveboat 2 months ago
I never noticed the "they analyze everything in The Dark Knight" thing until this video. And it kind of ruined to movie for me. Thanks.
And, I might get hate for this but I just gotta know, does anyone else think that The Dark Knight Rises isn;t going to live up to expectations? I don't mean that as that movie will be bad, I mean it as the movie has an Everest level of hype and it can't possibly reach that.
FlyingFocs 2 months ago
Actually, something odd that I've just recnetly noticed: When Rachel Dawson was killed, Bruce seemed more distraught about what happened to Dent than her. Just goes with what NC was saying about her not really being interesting.
FlyingFocs 2 months ago
Tim Burtons batman films are too slapstick for my taste. I know they are great adaptations of the original comics and are particularly dark in contrast to them. I prefer the re-imagining more, just because there is that explaination. We've all heard of insane people committing random acts of violence or terrorism so Chris Nolan's Joker seems more believable to me whereas Jack Nicholson's portrayal reminds me Bush.
That's just, like, my opinion man.
