  • what are you going to do with that 18 by 18

  • About how big is the third (the biggest) cage in this video? I'm getting a budgie (hopefully sooner than later!) but I might get a second after the first gets settled in, so I'd like to start with a bigger one.

  • is 24" by 16" a good size for one budgie?

  • Is it best to have two Budgies or can one Budgie live happily on his/her own in a cage ??

    Thanks.

  • @MultiKez2010 you can have 1 budgie as long at it is happy :D

i had 1 budgie before and she was happy.

  • did he come back?

  • Great Video! Your birds seem very happy with all of their toys! Mine loves its toys and has a nice big cage and loves coming out to fly around. I have that same bee pollen branch except it is brown. Also I am right with you in regards to the "small cage issue". I loled when you said we use this one for a carrying case lol. I couldn't imagine someone having one let alone two in that small thing. Thanks for the video, very informative!

  • when u say 18 by 18 etc etc you mean centimetres right

  • @wwe4774 no, inch.

  • Looks nice.....

  • My cage is quite small but Im getting him a bigger one for Christmas though it doesnt really matter because he only uses it for food, water and sleep otherwise hes out with me for at least 6-8 hours a day

do you recommend huge cages then like the bigger the better? x

  • What brand of seed do you feed your parakeets im going to hopefully get one for christmas :D Try to convince mom before then anyway i want the budgie to have a really good life and happy home with me i just want to give it whats best yeah i know this sounds cheesy but i really do so what Brand of seed do recommend. Wildharvest for example. What do you uses and i just love your videos <3

  • @ALoveForOrcas You cant feed them JUST seed. It leads to obesity and vitamin deficiencies. I feed my birds pellets, lots of veggies and fruits(they LOVE carrots and bananas) some seed, a piece of whole wheat bread every once in a while and a cornflake or two as a treat.

  • @twilightpony223 - i know i did a lot research and i know but i was just wondering what brand you use. Do you even feed them seed at all cause i heard that seed isnt as good as pellets but i cant find pellets. Thanks for replying seeing how well your birds look and how happy they are, you really love your birds so obviously you give them the best food. And care :)

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this video! I'm so glad to see people raising the bar on care for budgies! I think its sad how people forget that they are birds, and birds are NOT used to being confined to cages. In fact birds have no limits in the wild, but when in captivity I think we should give them the biggest cage possible to make up for the fact that we're basically putting them in prison. We need to go out of our way to make them happy if we want to keep them. Not stuff them in a corner :(

  • @enajr425 thanks a lot! But they died :(

Both of them. my mom gaved them a bath but I didn't work

  • hey friend..i also experience same as you.. just put salt into warm water. and rub into the eyes of your parakeet, just few drop on the eyes once a day, and put antibiotics on their drink. i'am very sure your parakeet back as beauty as before.. my parakeet back into normal beauty after 5 days of treatment..

  • Oh no one of my parakeets eye is closed and won't open!! Please help I have a feeling they will die! My other parakeets beak got stuck on bar and I had to help him they lost all energy I wanna cry please help me!!!

  • I've been lokin for a video like this thanx!! You know that travel cage? My TWO parakeets lived for 5 months than we changed to the little bigger one. We have NEVErr taken my budgies out of their cage before and I've been with them for 6 months! HELP my lil sister 4 years old put baby oil on them and u could see all of their skin!! We don't have a vet for them what should I do?? Please help me!! They survived but they don't chirp as much I worried what to do ?????

  • i just got a 16 by 20 cage is that good for them

  • I have two budgies that are very similar in color,I think they need a bigger cage though.

  • can they go in a large class cage? please answer!

  • A was wondering. Im going to get a budgie. It is a really big cage 31" L X 20.5" W X 52" H. Is that too big for one bird or is the bigger the merrier?

  • @camofirekid nope the bigger the merrier the only prob may be the bar size i have 1/2 in bar size and so far no probs my cage is three cages sottered together is about h=5 ft width=2ft length=2 1/2ft i currently have 2 budies i got 3 days ago and the both know step up and there girls and ones emerald and the others sapphire im thinkin about getting 2 males topaz and opal like all named after gems and ones blue ones green ones gongto be white and another yellow

  • could i use a cockateil perch for my parakeet? i only have one in the cage but they love it

  • what size is the cage?

  • where did you buy the cage???

  • would the white cage be a good size for 1 cockatiel also? thx!!!

  • i have the same cage . the cage i have doesn't have a grate. i used bird cage liner on top of that i put walnut litter. my birds like 2 eat and forage on the bottom of their cage.

  • 18 by 18?? that can't be cm, or even inchs. wat measurement?

  • @freeSOULalways Inches. Still, 18 by 18 inches is still incredibly small.

  • Love the names!

  • where did you buy the cage?

  • Where did you buy the cage?how much did it cost?

  • @itachi9128 go to their website true love aviary dot com i think

  • haha...Harry Potter fan?

  • whats corn cob or whatever you said?

Thanks Imma get a parakeet next week :D

  • Very nice video. I see it's from a few years ago, so I'm not sure if you're on Youtube regularly or not. I'm thinking about getting a couple parakeets...really just debating at this point. What kind of weather do they like? It gets really cold here in winter, and when I go out I turn my heat down to avoid an 800 dollar a month gas bill. Do you think they'd be okay? And in summer it gets super-hot. Again, my air is only on when I'm home. How are they in heat?

  • I think you should get another cage, this time longer, because birds feel safer at the highest point of their cage, so they won't use the rest. If you get a cage longer than it is tall, they use the WHOLE cage.

  • ok so your right petstores say small cages so they can sell somethin but there good care takers and webstites that tell the real care we're getting a budgie later and we've already had 4 so it is so good to see someone who actually cares for birds

  • Thanks for your videos. I changed the perches in my bird's cage, got him a tent and snuggly too. I didn't think I could tame him cause I had him for about a year but I started talking to him and leaving his door open. He is in and out now all day.

  • MY BUDGIE FOUND A WAY TO GET OUT OF HER CAGE AND THIS MORN I CAN'T FIND HER....HAVE PLAYED BUDGIE SOUNDS AN STILL NO RESPONSE....I'M (DAMn cap key) scared she's dead.....please help...

  • OMG thanx allot, you helped me greatly on this. I'm getting my FIRST bird and chose a budgie, You helped me out Tons with this video on the cage. I'm so excited to have my first bird. But I wont get it till a few months. BUt on the plus side, thanx again for posting the video. Thanx TONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i use to have a cuttle bone in my cage but star loved it so much she finished it in like 1 week so for her birthday we bought this toy with lots of lil squiggly ropes on the bottom with a bell in the middle is a bone then above that is a cement block shaped like a flower (she bites the cement ALLL DAY LONG LOL) and above that are 2 lil wooden sticks to chew on so its pretty much a variety of chew toys stuck together and also id say the way she chews the sticks makes her the best beaver in world

  • You're so nice to your birds. I really appreciate the informative videos you take the time to create (and the time you take to reply to even the unintelligible comments). I especially love how the space and toys you give all your birds, and how you allow free-flight time (and make the brilliant decision to publicly shun those tiny cages and the use of corn cob bedding). You're a great example for any parrot owner.

  • Why does my budgie stand wierd? my other budgie would stand up straight. but this budgie stands low. she is not pregnant. im kinda worried. is this normal?

  • do your keet come out the cage and are they clipped?

  • I love your budgies.

  • hey i have a question about new budgies, i got new parakeets and we have had the 4 3 days, and they r not used 2 us iz this normal ? can i have some advise?

  • @wiissam11 Yes, it can take months to build a relationship wit a bird (just like people but they are more honest with their emotions.)

  • Can you tell me where did you get that cage(store)? How much was it?And what is its name?

  • do they make alot of noisee?

  • i <3 your cage setup!

  • if i were to get a parakeet should i get one or two?

  • @CHICKMAGNET1713 Depends if you want it to be especially tame and be able to be handled well. It's easier to tamea bird by itself as you will become its companion.

  • @stargazrt4

I want to tame my parakeet (He is kind of wild. I only have one). If I want to tame him do you recommend clipping his wings so he doesn't fly all around the house or does clipping their wings make them wild? Please respond. Thank you.

  • Harry Potter fan. Cool. Me too.

  • @abby161919 Thank you so much for the laugh! Oh that was so funny, wait it hurts...OK now I am fine. Sweetie, did your mom drop you on your head when you were small?

    ~Rodney

  • @abby161919 yeah right ur a bich uu know nothing oh bite me why dont u u suck so badly get a life dude u were hit with an iron club thus causin deformite the bigger the cage the better a serios condition dude ask ur parents what happend thums up if u agree hehe

  • @54321dude1 its common sense idiot. would you rather life in a closet or a house? I think these rules apply to any species. the bigger the better.

  • @abby161919 WHO THE HELL CARES IF THEY SING!!!!!!! THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN TO HAVE AS FRIENDS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @abby161919

  • Comment removed

  • were do you get the bird candy?

  • they were in the tent to get away from the sun haha

  • do they have clipped wings? cus the white one looked like it flew away

  • lmao the petstore told me only to put about 3 toys in their cage now there is like 6 lol xDD

  • were is the cuttlebone?

  • the upper cage is ridiculously small i have a bigger one like twice as big but not as big as the cage bellow is that k for a single parakeet? i will take a bigger cage wen i get a girl for him in December

  • hy i will like to know is sand necessary? many people say it's important for their digestion but i heard it's quite damaging for them in the long run i will like to know please i am currently using a sand made out of smashed clams please answer i can't get a straight answer also my bird doesn't get enough sleep i think i cover him with a not so thick material and light goes threw it should i cover his cage with a thicker material? i am afraid not to suffocate or get scared , thank you

  • i love your vid star gaze!!! i used all your tips. i have the tall cage (not the one in the vid.) but i wanna know where you get that cage u keep your parakeets in.

  • Im getting a parakeet this summer, and I have read several different books, but you are the first person I have heard say that cuttlefish bones are not important, are they still good for them?

  • do you have a cuttlebone they are super important. If you dont have one your birds beak can overgrow i thing you should get one if u dont have one Also I love you birds they r so beautiful!

  • @toidhh22 They are not that important. Birds can absorb the calcium in them, our guys wear their beaks down on their toys, and I don't see wild parrots catching cuttlebone fish and eating them in the wild. Thank for your compliments!!!

  • @stargazrt4 correction: birds CAN NOT adsorb the calcium in them.

  • @stargazrt4 hey ur a dumbass parakeets dont like thiere cages tall THEY LIKE THEM WIDE

  • @djordje333999 they also don't like it when you can't spell. my budgies use ALL of their cage to play in. : ]

  • @stargazrt4 my post didn't take so i'm posting this again....my budgie found a way to get out of her cage during the night and now can't find her...i played budgie sounds and it hasn't helped...i'm afraid she has died....any other ideas ???

  • @stevie0523 Did she ever turn up?

  • you are right are birds cinnamon and flin have to big cages

  • um, i havent got a gird yet. can you make a video on what to look for when buying a budgie/parakeet?

  • Can you use newspaper instead of paper towels? are they noisy? they didnt seem noysie.

  • @jenna364 yes, and they are not noisy.

  • are they messy? my parents dont want to get one because they had birds and they crapped all over the floor. but i think its because they didnt change the bottom everyday? so if you change the bottom daily does it smell or is it messy? also are they noisy at night

  • @M1sterHamilton Yes... I have 3 birds, 2 of them parakeets, and as indivisuals they both make more of a mess than my Quaker Parrot who's nearly twice their size!!! (They especially start making a mess when they start to lay eggs...) They usually quiet down at night, but mine start getting chattery whenever the sun starts to come up.

  • i have 1 parakeet should i get her a freind or not

  • You need a longer cage not a tall cage!!!!!

  • i am geting one but i can't have a tall cage i can have a wide one thow

  • when i bought my parakeets there was 2 but in 3 mounths there was 10 and 5 mounths there was 14 sorry if i spelled some stuff wrong

  • cool, but why is your name Mr. Money? Are you my biggest fan?

    ~Rodney Money

  • thanks for making this video. im getting a budgie tomorrow. i will bring him home in a small cage but he will have a big one like the one in this video when he gets home.i cant wait(:

  • No.

  • If you can't afford a decent cage and plenty of toys, you can't afford the parakeets. Do them a favor and give them away.

  • I agree that it is important to realize that birds if taken care of properly are not cheap.

  • Well you are rong

  • I have 7 budgies in a small cage yeah some of us can't offord stuff, I have a much bigger cage too but I can't stand cleaning it, I don't put them toys cuse they chew them and destroy them>_>

  • When I was young I did the same exact thing not knowing any better, but now I wished I knew back then what I know now. They are innocent life giving to us by God for a little while, and they deserve a full and enriched life.

    ~Rodney

  • That is incredibly selfish of you, you have a bigger cage you don't use just because don't want to clean it? Disgusting. They have no toys because they chew and destroy them? That's what they DO, they're just being birds. You make me sick.

  • Dude not cool, I've recently gotten a bigger cage in order my birds to be more comfortable, I plan on getting something a little bit bigger later.

And cleaning a bird card requires a small amount of effort. Give them more space, if you can't stand cleaning the bird cage then all I can say is that you really don't want your birds =\

  • @MilisaShakun what it's wrong with you if you got a bigger cage put them in that one jesus maybe you should do the right thing and give your birds and cages to someone who wants them and you don't have to have much money i mean stargasrt4 really loves them and can afford to give them all this but they live just as happy with a quarter of what you see in this videos just the cage should be big the rest you will get easily some toys you could make yourself what they need the most is love

  • are toliet paper rolls good for lovebirds and paper? please write back!

  • Get the ones without glue.

  • @stargazrt4 ok thx!

  • Hey do u ever sell your breeders or no?

  • to keep there claws from growing to long the pet shops have always told me to use the sand paper type sheets in the bottom of the cage but the vets have told me to use the perches, whats you;re verdict?

  • The correct answer is: sand paper is the worst thing for birds. It dries out their feet, does not provide foot exercise, and will cause a condition called bumblefoot. Most pet shop people are not the sharpest crayons in the box. Also, sand paper should never be used on perches either. The best grooming perches are called Sandyperches. You can find them on our website at trueloveaviarydotcom.

  • aww cute birds i have owned 3 budgies over my life time my first was called 'ollie' and he was you;re common australian green budgie he was so cheeky i would twist tie his doors shut and he would spend all day untwisting them, then i had a blue boy called pluto and his mate rosibell who had 3 clutches of eggs, i also owned a rainbow lorikeet we was spoilt what ever he wanted he got =p but unfortunatly he fell ill and i had to make the hard decision to put him down =(

  • Is a 18"x14"x60" cage big enough for four parakeets?

  • im thinking about buying a budgie. where should i buy it? at a pet store or at a place specializing in birds only?

  • We personally recommend a private breeder that specializes in sociable parakeets. Otherwise, you may get a bird that is just frightened of you.

  • im sorry if this is wrong we just found a bird, caught him and are trying to find the owner but we be keeping him....but isnt the cage supposed to have more horizontal bars, so they can climb more

  • It does on the sides. There is no perfect cage.

  • two birds for Harry Potter! NICE!!!

    my parakeet's name is Posideon

  • i have 60 x 60 x 150

  • lol pigwidgeon and hedwig!!! XD

and thank you for he cage tips too! :)

  • i know all birds are quite noisy, but out of 10 ( 10 being the loudest) are loud they???

  • 2..

  • mine are quiet most of the time

  • Hey!.

I got my parakeet/budgie for about 2 weeks now. And the cage he lives in is a 10 inches wide and a 10 inches tall cage (this cage is not going to be his permanent cage). I went to some pet stores and they sell cages for heaps expensive. Where do you buy your cages?

    (I live in AUS btw)

  • trueloveaviarydotcom

  • You have amazing birds. I was wondering which has the better personality, the budgies or the lovebirds? Is one more interactive with people, while the other more independent? Good job by the way. Keep up the good work. It shows.

  • We prefer lovebirds in pet quality.

  • I am going to say you have 2 much toys in their.I am happy you let your parakeets out but with two birds you dont need as many toys. They entertain themselfs good.Just a few would be fine. And regular flight time.2 Many toys take up needed space of the cage.Budgie owner for years.

  • is this a good cage size for 1 parakeet? 18-14-22.

  • No.

  • why

  • 18 inches long by 18 inches wide is the absolute minimum, and yes 4 inches does make a difference.

  • kk sorry its really 18x22

  • for perches can you use bungie wire

  • nope.

  • jk...haha! going to petsmart this weekend

  • ill just set them free tonight... i feel bad for them. think they can survive in central Texas( Austin)???

  • STOP IT! No they can not! Are you crazy? Just give them to someone.

  • i have 2 birds in a lil cage...damn....i have 2 small cages should i split them up....man i suck at life

  • You don't suck at life, you just need some one to help guide you. Please don't seperate them. They just need a larger cage. Please go to our site trueloveaviarydotcom for some of the best prices on the best cages!

  • yeah. i'll make it out of big beads.

  • could i make a budgie toys out of beads?

  • Yes, as long as they can not swallow them.

  • Can u use pine shavings as bedding?

  • No, it will destroy their Respiratory Tract. We have seen other people's birds die from it.

  • wow!

  • jjhihihihi

  • I have to get a bigger cage for my 2 keets :O

it' slike.. 2 times bigger than that small cage in the vid :O

but still small for them T_T

  • oh and dont worry i let them out the cage everyday so they can exersice

  • wow i want to get this cage wow i have a small cage for 2 and im looking forward to getiing a big one like urss my parents made thr differnt choise thnks 2 u

  • I ordered this cage. And I even have the same transportation cage.

  • thanks

  • how much dose a cage for 1 cost

  • for like a 24x18x18 it can be like $40 but if you get some online theyre cheaper. like a 36x32x32 cage was $35 online! my advice is to get a cage online

  • About 15 dollars, and for 2 about 35 dolars!

  • wow your cage looks like a lot of fun for the birds. you have beautiful budgies also.

  • My cage is small and the bottom part is broken. I GOTTA buy a new cage, ASAP!!

  • my cage is small shit gotta get a new one then..damn

  • werd u buy the cage

  • hi i am only 8 years old but i really like your birds and i am getting one too!

I made them 1 swing for their cage and a big one that both i made them balls i bought them balls i did EVRYTHING everysingle toy. they dont even look at it PLEASE HELP WITH MY BUDGIES

  • Try clean, natural branches and things that they can shred.

    ~Rodney

  • do u think this cagewould be good for 2 parakeets?

    Width 14" Depth 11" Height 19"

  • The cage in te video is the minimum.

    ~Rodney

  • what do you think of a cage about 23 inches long, 14 inches wide.and about 24 inches high?? for 2 budgies,i thought it would be big enough because for breeding of 2 budgies the size recomended (usualy) is 25" long 14" wide and 18" high, but it seems i may need more room coz u mentioned "bickering" and they do just that, ALOT ,lol

  • thanks for the info

  • this video is lol

  • yup, i got a biggy like that. my two psycho mini-parrots=Budgies!, like the big space!.

  • I just had two parakeets given to me by a coworker who are terrified of humans and have almost no toys. She didn't even name them. I feel so sad for them considering the two i had are at least not afraid of me although not yet tame and i spoil them with toys and treats. I am getting a new cage which is 32 x 20 x 35 for all four of them. It's so cute. I put their cages next to each other while we wait for the big cage and they all want to be together.

  • Birds are not pretty ornaments. Budgies are wonderful, smart companions which one bird can bond very strongly to their human. Piggy, the little green one in the video loves to snuggle and take naps against our necks. Hedwig, the blue one, is obsessed with me and loves to explore the inside of my shirt. So as singles they are great and when they are together they are great. Both are well-socialized, bonded with each other, but love their humans also just like the lovebirds.

  • We both have full time jobs, but we put the effort into making them not just pets, but true family members. If people are not going to put the effort in a new pet, then don't get one, or two, or three, etc. There happiness is up to us; we are their caretakers. It is always best to think of the birds' happiness first than our own.

    ~Rodney

  • Thank you for all that information. : )

  • My pleasure. We are here to break the stereotypes.

  • Do you find that they still bond well with you even though you own a pair of them? I'm looking to get one or two budgies soon, and am debating on how many to get.

  • It is always best to think of the birds' happiness first than our own.

    ~Rodney

  • Yes that's true. You didn't answer my question though. As a housewife I will have plenty of time to lavish attention on my bird. So its future happiness is not an issue. They say get two or more if you work full time and or go to school, and don't plan on spending tons of time with them.
