  • He said it was released in 1998!?

  • Why no mention of Super Chase?

  • I have out of options on this game .. I have tried everything to let this game run on the emulator sadly still not working .. I have download the rom from different websites just in case sadly still not working .. please help :(((

  • I have the Master System version!

  • the Saturn version is the best and it comes with SCI on the same disk :) Burnout 3 Pursuit missions are Chase HQ in the future! they give me the same feeling Chase HQ used to. i ussed to love playing Chase HQ on the ferry as a kid :)

  • Do you suppose Lucky & Wild got any inspiration out of this? That was one of the gems of my childhood even though I never got past the third stage even with my brother behind the wheel.

  • @TriggerheartExcelica Quite possibly. I really enjoyed it myself in arcades. It was certainly better than SCI.

  • Loved this game back in the day. I remember spending all kinds of time playing it in the arcades in various states of altered consciousness.

  • This is a really fun game, but it's way too short and easy.

  • I loved the NES version...

  • So apparently, YOU inspired Chase HQ?

  • Actually, Taito also released "Ray Tracers" for the original playstation back in 1997. Which was basically Chase HQ in 3D, only with a different name.

  • So Actually, it's not Chase HQ then is it?

  • This looks like OutRun...

  • It uses the same engine.

  • Nice review but gotta say I love Super Chase: Criminal Termination (the one that "got changed too much", 1992), 1st person view is great and the game still looks good !

  • LOL: this look-back at 'Chase HQ' was hilarious! I love your accent & the comments you made!

I used to play the old school Chase HQ, and I almost always wasted all of the Nitro-Boosts early in the stage!

    Good review!

  • This game is so random but its so addicting :P LOL

  • I can still never figure out if you're supposed to ram them from the back or the side.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope

I'm pretty sure its the back

  • You score more points if you ram them from the side. Additionally, ramming them from the side allows you to maintain your speed, while ramming from behind will usually slow you down.

    "@PocketMonstersFreak

    WTF?"

  • u missed the Sega saturn version dude

  • I missed the C63 version too.

Main reason, I couldn't get footage in time for the deadline.

  • Bronson?

"Hey ma, how about some cookies?

    No dice

    This ain't over!" xD

    Excellent review as always

  • is there a high and low gear for the car,it moves off so slow when i hit accelerator it looks terrible,ps i know about the nitros,im using keyboard

  • There is a high and low gear yes.

  • would you know what key it is on the keyboard to toggle between the 2 gears, i cant find it for the life of me

  • Sorry, I played it on MAME via an Xbox So I wouldn't know.

Just mash the keys until something happens.

  • downloaded chase hq world for mame+the taito bios and it stil wont work any suggestions anyone i tried it without the taito bios and still wont run ,says i need another rom or possible hd image

  • Can't believe he didn't mention the C64 version... one of the worst games on the C64!

  • It's in the script.

But I couldn't find a copy in time to film it.

  • how do i get this exact version of this game ,how about mame(arcade emulator?or the saturn version looks clse to this one,the others ar

  • I used MAME for this one.

  • brillaiant cant wait to get it all set up

  • Lol you said it was released in 1998, you mean 1988 ;D

  • Bugger, I've done that a few times now. I even said late 80's in the paragraph before...

    Very good observation Sir!

  • Lol, good vid anyway. You have a new subscriber sir :D

(Should have done it ages ago but was too damn lazy lol)

  • Thanks dude, appreciate it!!! :D

We're also putting videos up on TGWTG now as well!

  • I loved this game! it was Rad Racer meets Oj Simpson's chase years before it happened.

  • so some made a csi game befor a the csi game on the ps2 ?

  • I played Special Criminal Investigations on the Master System back in the day. I actually thought it was pretty good.

  • lol nope, you're just always mentioning 'skanky old seaside resorts' :P

  • Well I normally have a seaside resort called "Hemsby" in mind when I say that, it's down the road from Great Yarmouth.

Google some photos of the place and you'll see what I mean.

But I do like going there, the whole place seems to be stuck in the 80's

  • I used to go to Hemsby as a child. I know what you mean about the skanky arcades. Great videos!

    ianwuk

  • lol, we went there recently, the place hasn't changed one bit!

  • Larry, do you live in Brighton perchance? :D

  • Are you calling me gay? :D

  • Sorry I mean a few of the Games came from Japan, not the cartridge itself.

  • I've got a 58 games in 1 cartridge with Game boy & Game boy colour games. it's probably a pirated 1 because a few of them came from Japan.

  • I had the game on Game Boy when I got it in spain on a 300 games in 1 cartridge... how awesome were they...?

  • I never ever found one of those, always onted one, but didn't know where to find them in pre-internet days.

  • The Master system verison of Enduro racer is on the Virtual console now but I bet nothing is better than the Arcade verison.

  • The MS version is a completely different game from the arcade machine.

  • I just found the Chase HQ S.C.I. Collection for the Saturn.

Seems like the best of the gazillion Ports, just like Outrun =)

  • Yeah, it'd be arcade perfect i'd guess.

Does it have that third Chase HQ game on it too, I tried capturing footage of it for the video, but my emulator didn't like it.

  • Nope just Chase HQ and SCI.

I guess this was the typical "MAME and 3D game(that isn't Namco System 11)" problem.

    BTW

After seeing this video almost half a year ago I fell in love with the Scaler engine =)

Are there any more Car Racers like it (besides Outrun, CHQ, SCI and the Car Stages in Batman Returns)?

  • Yeah Sega made a few more: Space Harrier, Turbo OutRun, ThunderBlade, Hang-On, Super Hang-On, After Burner II, Power Drift & Enduro Racer (I know that one as I bought a full sized arcade unit of it from eBay to my parents annoyance ^_^) Theres also made Super Chase and Lucky & Wild.
  • Cheers ^^

Looks like it will be a nice port-chase on ebay for me =) After I got my hands on the Hyper Neo Geo 64 hardware.

If I had the room for a cabinet I would already have at least one standing in my flat =)

Well my MAK kinda fits the bill for my arcade fix.

  • Well you could get yourself a mini arcade unit, or a table top one.

Or even a Super Gun (there's a video about Super Guns on my account)

  • With the "MAK" I actually ment Supergun. I already have one, but even though Jamma is standard, those extra harnesses are not. My Supergun works great on my MVS with my 42" plasma Telly. But I got hold of a few pcbs that need extra harnesses.

While it's hard to find Superguns on ebay, it's quite harder to find one that does all kinds of arcade hardware that doesn't involve clumsy old me tinkering with it.

And I'm quite a snob when it comes to arcade sticks too ;)

    Thanks ^^

  • You don't want to go down the emulation route either?

  • how does it feel to be a millionaire for just playing video games?

  • It's a kinda empty feeling! :D

  • I have Chase HQ 2 for the Sega Genesis, It's a pretty fun game

  • I saw Chase HQ 2 in, the now dead, Weston-super-Mare pier arcade.

  • Car games became better when the 360 degree chip was put in the snes,f zero

  • What a classic, did you like the specials criminal investorgation?

  • No, It doesn't mean you can only wash your car under 40 degrees!

  • I have the GB version.

To be honest, it's not that good. You go around the course at a very low speed, turning left and right at junctions when necessary, trying not to use a continue-yet you know that you're never going to be able to reach the other guy in less than, what was it, 60 in-game seconds? Either way, one mistake leads to fatal error in that game. It really doesn't seem as good as the other versions. Hell, compared to the Chase HQ I know, that looked like a completely different game.

  • I've noticed that the three versions that were different from the arcade version, the NES, GB and Master System versions were always called "Taito Chase HQ" and not just "Chase HQ". so maybe there was a decision to change it.

  • Love your videos, keep them coming!

  • Thankee ^_^ If you look on our revver account, you can see all our new episodes!!!

  • Did you say leet driving??!?!?!!?

  • Oh no no no, I said L337 driving :D

  • ... You scared me lol... If you said leet I would have reported you lol... But by saying L337 you are getting a huge dose of experience points! Congratz

  • I only played the Game boy and Super Nintendo game. Never really like Super Chase H.Q

  • Nice to see the different versions of the games. I played the Amstrad version and was impressed by the graphics. Was one of my favourite driving games on the CPC.

  • The Amstrad version is the one I played the most too, prolly the Master System version later on, but that was just too easy.

  • I remember playing chase HQ at my local fish and chips shop. Good old memories.

  • Must have been a stand up one if it was in a chippy!

Quite odd though as Chip Shops usually only have Street Fighter II machines with a knackerd joystick where you can't move left. :D

  • your a lucky one. the one down where i am the joystick will only move left and never right :P

  • i thought thats the spectrum version was actualy really good for a speccy game, the only problem with the home computer versions was that nitro was space bar and you have to bend down and press the keyboard every time you needed it, which was fine for the chase but once you got to ramming the other car you could sometimess lose him in the process

  • I used to use my toes for the Nitro on the C64 & Amiga versions :)

  • Lol, It was a pain in the arse taking your hand off the joystick to do nitro!

  • I had the Speccy version. It was pretty fantastic. "Let's go Mr. Driver!"

  • PIB got suspended literally on the day this got posted. Talk about bad timing and corporate jackassery. :(

  • What? I was just watching his stuff last night. What happened to PIB?

  • He got suspended because of his GTA 4 video.

I can't say it enough: The owners of youtube are biased assholes.

  • Did he say something bad about GTA4 or what was the reason that YouTube saw his video so unfitting?

  • Well, Take2 put it down---

  • Sorry?

  • Okay, let's say it so: Take2 reported the video to youtube and they put it down. Well, that was that, what I heard.

  • I'll ask PiB next time I see him, I can't think why Take2 would do that, theres hundreds of GTA videos on here.

  • and now PlayitBogart just got suspended. oh my :o

  • good times playing it the argades

  • The NES version looks good for its time

  • Awesome review man. I have played this game on every port that you mentioned. And also I have played part 2. I used to love this game back in the day.

  • LMFAO. I have the GB version of this on my account xD

  • Awesome video Larry and thank god I was getting really bored I played the Super Chase H.Q. for the SNES it was ok but kinda stupid at the same time too I was not really ready for that inside the car look it felt akward I did like the soundtrack to the original arcade game plus there was that Spinoff game Crime City one of my all time fave Arcade games.

  • LMAO, I was playing Crime City on a MAME emulator on my xbox a few weeks ago, just randomly out of boredom.

Reminded me a lot of ESWAT. Ever played that? (The arcade version, the Mega Drive/Genesis version was a lot different)

  • Oh my god I looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooove Crime City seriously such a good game and yeah I have played the Arcade version of ESWAT It was pretty damn good I think sega is fucking stupid for not putting it on the 360 Marketplace I mean the genesis version was ok but the arcade game has co-op and it was aweosme plus it had nice soundtrack

  • awesome!!!

  • Larry you never fail to impress me!

  • great review =]

  • Hell yeah! I played this in the arcade a bunch!

  • Looks pretty rad.

  • I've never heard of this game, but nice vid.

  • GREAT, I would even have face cake after playing this

  • Keep 'em coming.

  • I loved the Spectrum version. Used to play it all the time. Though comparing it to the original arcade makes me wonder how I put up with it for so long.

The Amstrad CPC version looks strangely glossy compared to other games on that machine!

  • Probably because they spent some time doing the CPC version

  • Guru Larry FTW!

    Holding Up Good, I Hope.

  • i remember this game.

  • lol sweet larry!

saw you on xleague again (pulse)

    keep up the good work

    tell wez he's a LEMON
