Marvin was the consumate professional in the studio, and this recording is another example of this. Yes the album was recorded with Marvin and Diana in separate studios, but Marvin spoke highly of this album and said he hoped it would be viewed as a classic which is exactly what it is. Diana was pregnant at the time and Marvin's taste for weed made it difficult for them to record their parts together. This is an incredible vocal performance by both artists!

You are so right aswell as people having different taste or preference it can also be what memories and associations a particular track brings . The Pearls version is so little known and not remembered generally so I thought it was worth a mention .

Diana's voice is so sweet in this song... But Marvin is DEFINITELY detached. I heard at one point during recording this album they had to be in separate studios. Stylistics own, but this version is pretty too. And I'm not downing Marvin at all, he's like one of my vocal heroes.

The Stylistics original version is incredible........but this duet is such a beautiful rendition of two people in love.... Diana and Marvin did elegant justice with this version.
