  • the greatest city bluegrass voice ever, perhaps the greatest bluegrass voice period. had the pleasure to have seen john a number of time. we miss you john and your music.

  • @reykjavik82 Yes, a great voice.

  • Although I am thrilled to see this video it saddens me to see the joy no longer shining in John's eyes. He made me love life and live music so much more after seeing him perform in the 70s. My CHILDREN grew up singing John the Generator. I wish John had known just how deeply he WAS/IS loved and appreciated. I am so sad my children never had the chance to see him perform or to know him. I miss him everyday and one of his songs runs across my mind several times a day.

  • I only just found out about John's passing and was extremely saddened... I heard him perform once, being introduced by a friend of mine who was managing John at the time... John is teaching me a lesson today, that no matter how dark things can appear at times, there are those who love and appreciate me for who I am, who would truly miss me if I bowed out, so I stick around for them, and soon enough the sun rises again...

  • I've been watching this vid for over a year and now it's going into my May favorites. The legendary John Herald.

  • Wonderful video. I've always loved him. What a loss.

  • This is really nice and a song I've listened to time and again. Thanks for the buzz.

  • I just wrote a sort of goofy or funny piece about Woodstock on my BLOG, Natural Health News, yesterday; John was included. Now I'll have this to add. He was loved, as was his music, and is greatly missed.

  • I am the owner of the "dank little bar". It is the Parkside and Andy and I were so very proud to have known John! Thank you to whomever posted this. We think of John often and loved him dearly.

  • I was fortunate enough to see John in a dank bar on Ave B many times. The best and the least known. This video is so great!

  • Cool I like this very much! Cheers!

  • John herald was a folk genius!

  • Totally great song and performance, I have the Greenbriar Boys on Pete Seeger's Rainbow Quest program, but it was the only thing I'd ever seen of him! Thanks for sharing, David and rest in peace, John :)

  • Thank you SO much for putting this on. Those of us who knew and loved John and his music will watch this video often.
