  • Very good, but don't forget all the appoggiature, acciaccature, diminuendi that are written into this. You can certainly start phrases forte (especially at "aprimi il petto!), but by the end of it, imagine yourself whispering in her ear. Then you will be giving the message of the composer. And the final note is held for three full measures. Bonne continuation!

  • *Voicecrack on the modulation*

  • I really enjoyed your interpretation. Not only is your voice one with great promise, but you really revealed both the strength and the vulnerability of the flower. You might want to create a wee bit more contrast in future performances. Are you planning to be an opera singer, or art song singer, or both?

  • You are a genius Jose, we hope you can live all your life by singing like this. Plisss dot let your talent go out of your life.

    Flia Carballo:Nacho, Santi, Gonza

  • god you guys are so demanding. At 17, this is a remarkably good performance.

  • beautiful voice , i love it

  • good voice.

Needs a lot of work on italian. Also this song is delicate, no need to pound out every note.

  • This is a great rendition, but there is no dynamic contrast. This piece requires that contrast.

  • Really doesn't fit the way it is sung, also the recording technique is not as good as the vocal technique, I must admit, so that might have its parts. Still the baroque thing DEFINITELY remains to be considered.

  • I love you!

  • really nice voice some word pronunciations are wrong such as non (pronounced noon) and peto sounded like you sang pento... i would have said you could do more with the dynamic markings, and not slide between nots as much (sliding in this particular song to me makes it sound sloppy) but very well done i applaud you!!!!

  • nice voice, your still very young

i would love to hear it more in the body

listen to singers from the 20's 30's 40's or 50's

    do it

  • great voice and song, thanks for posting!

  • your diction is very well done. but dont let your breath support get the best of you. i had that problem with this piece your very last amo..........re i noticed but u did this piece well

  • Lovely voice, great pronunciation with your Italian! The only thing I would say (as I have had this problem with this song and others as well) is to make sure you hit the notes spot on when singing classical. I notice this especially when you sing "Aprimil petto, evedrai scritto il core..." When you sing that first A, make sure you get to the note right away and stay there. But overall, fabulous!

  • I disagree! The expression in "aprimi il petto" doesn't need less affect. Madrigalisms should not be considered purely a trait of the composition but may be expressed using the voice in any suitable manner.

  • i think you have misunderstood me. what i was saying is to make sure there aren't "scoops" in the notes, meaning you get on the note and stay there.

  • Staying on the note is important. Getting there is not so important.

  • love this!

  • 17??!! WOW, Tienes voz hombre!!!

  • My GOD YOUR AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! If you are learning this song I have a video with piano accompaniment to help you practice! Click on the yellow video in the video response box. Remember sing from the heart! :)

  • nice voice and a great piece ...esspecially for your age...keep the good work and i am sure that in years you will be a great voice

  • daaaaaaaamn that was good

  • Amarilli is song by Caccini, no by Puccini...

  • You have a bright future. Keep singing this lovely repertoire!

  • nice one! =)

  • a beautiful, big and rich baritone voice, that would be great in grand opera one day! Consider heeding the advice about Baroque music - Amarilli is early Baroque and thus a little aria - the voice is an instrument in baroque music, not a seperate entity. Overall, a great young voice!

  • you have a great voice. Try not to forget that baroque music, certainly this kind of baroque, should not be sung like verdi or rossini or whatever. It makes the song too heavy. But very good job! :-)

  • keep learning.

    keep singing.

  • Excellent Voice!! Keep it up!

  • dude how old are you? and how many years have you bing singing opera? i love the way you sing i would like to know how to sing !:(

  • how long had u been singing on this video?

  • you are great. Be sure you will be one of the best bariton(dramatic tenor) of your time

  • bariton=dramatic tenor?

    who told you that?

  • You are over singing every part. Trying having some more dynamic for a more dramatic effect. Don't over annunciate the words either. you have a very impressive voice!

  • 17-year-old... Wow...

  • Try not to put so much energy into it. You want to be able to not be tired after you're done singing. There is such thing as too much power and just because it feels good doesn't mean it always is good. In order to have a good loud sound you have to perfect the small sound

  • You have a beautiful voice, but you need to work much more harder on the music aspects, ok? But keep going. You're on the right way.

  • perfect voice...

  • Wow! Renaissance refinement meets raw testosterone! That's bound to please, whatever the minor inelegancies. Gorgeous baritone voice. Keep singing!

  • very handsome

  • It was mostly very good, it just felt a little sloppy. But I can overlook that a bit cause you are only 17, and you are amazing for your age. I hope you continue with this style.

  • So it's okay for someone to be sloppy if they are young?

  • Very nice for a young baritone. I hear some amazing overtones in your voice. Keep singing this beautiful music. You will be an amazing operatic baritone someday.

  • Beautiful voice and full of emotion which made it even more beautiful.

  • too much drama

  • but the song is dramatic.

  • But it is also reflective --- and he can probably tell the story just as well without the gestures. More tenderness in his voice would go just as far. And maybe some tenderness in his eyes... he must be taking lessons from Juan Diego.

  • Thank you for posting this! Finally, someone does justice to this beautiful piece of music! Absolutely beautiful. With some more variation in dynamics (more piano, less forte moments) it would be perfection.

  • I think you have one amazing voice.

  • BeautifuL,BABY!!! great job!

  • bravisimo!!!! keep it up boy!!

  • I liked that.I am a bariton and ı learn this aria recently.Congratulations :)

  • Bravo.

  • Marvelous voice, so dramatic, lovely, keep it up!

  • He sounds like he is pushing too much in spots. There needs tweaking here and there. Still, amazing instrument. He'll be great. I am a 17 year-old American mezzo-soprano. I hope to sing with him someday!

  • Incredible! Bel canto is not too easy for baritones and Jose Mongelos has given us a beautiful, deeply felt rendition of Amarilli. I too say" Bravo! You are going places! Sebastien Dupratil

  • AMAZING POTENTIAL! Great job boy! Keep cultivating your voice, but specially become a deep artist and the best musician so that your great natural instrument becomes one of the bests in history of baritone voices. Bravo.
