No. VADS was retired in 1994 and has been replaced by the Avenger ADS missile system and more recently Phalanx C-RAM which is a different mounting for the same gun.

@hardware199 keep in mind not every barrel is shooting at that rate, divide by six and you get about 15-18 rounds per second. which is 900-1080 rounds per minute. also keep in mind that a rotating barrel design does not rely on normal firing methods like you see in other automatic weapons. I wont go into specifics but I am willing to bet that if you add a barrel or two you can increase the rotations of the barrels and get a greater individual rate of fire making to total even higher than 175.

Seems like a weird idea putting the aiming of a ground-to-air Vulcan cannon under direct human control, but there's probably more going on with the system than meets the eye. I'm guessing the gunner only tells it what he wants to fire at and the computer does the precise aiming control.
