  • Boot camp sure has changed since I attended. They have It a lot easier. Trust me. In 1992 It wasn't like this at all.

  • things have change a lot since i went to Navy Boot camp, i went in 82 can't believe 29 years flew by lol

  • I sat in number 6 3 years ago.

  • Okay if this video is accurate then lots of shit has changed! They have racks just like the carriers I served on? What the fuck! And they have computers in the classrooms? I went to boot camp back in 2002 and it was ghetto as hell compared to the shit they are showing in this video? Must be a lie or something.

  • @womo1975 i went in 2008 and this is legit

  • my fiance is there now. i'll be joining him in two weeks. hooyah!

  • My Fiance is there now! I love you baby!!!

  • 2:17 safety bar chief!

  • ugh the socks when exercising.... it should be a crime they're that bad...

  • Bootcamp has sure changed since I was in. I went to bootcamp on August 20, 1997. I was in Ship 5, Division 441. Thanks Petty Officer Corbin and Petty Officer Baca!

  • Ha ! I thought I was in heaven when they installed bunk lockers on my ship. Before that we had these tiny square lockers. I was on a ship built in 1944.

  • @whiskeyify so you are or were in the navy? any tips plz thanks.

  • 02:17 - Don't forget the safety bar, Chief!

  • Wow, potential Sailors watching this will be in for a bit of a wake up call when they get there...at least if they had RDC's like I did lol

  • @masncarlson man watching this got me like NOOOOOOOOOO SHIT IT WORST

  • @masncarlson Who knows man, the skipper believes in a "kinder, gentler Navy."

  • i gotta say that is the worst bootcamp on earth...its not hard or tough...thats why i am joinin usmc to get in the shit

  • Is it wrong that i think that chief is kinda hot?

  • Smokey bear will tear you to shreds, but Red Ropes are hardly what I would call friendly camp counselors.

  • I pushed recruits at RTC Great Lakes from Sep 84 to Jul 87. Today's RTC may as well be on a different planet. The new facility is incredible, and, while it took some time, the Navy did listen to our drop comments . It looks to me as if our new shipmates are getting training which is much more applicable to the fleet than what they got when I was yelling at them.

BTW, that new wrought iron sign above the gate to Camp Porter has a creepy "Arbeit Macht Frei" vibe to it.

  • my dad was a tin can sailor and so was my grandpa, i was a grunt in the army, not to sound like im startin shit but wow this is some baby girl shit. this boot really looks like a vacation.

  • @Mega11bravo dont be jealous!!! we all get paid the same and the Navy got it made..you guys sleep in the dirt and eat that cardboard tasting Meal REady to Eat...

  • She was my RDC in boot camp. Division 943 - found this video on accident lol

  • this is where my husband is at right now. as soon as isaw this istarted cry. ill be waiting till you get home babe iloveyou

  • Chief, how do you put in to be an RDC? A few friends of mine were wanting to be one and I honestly don't think I've seen too many AC RDC's. (Something I've been considering too)

  • Boot Camp was easy in the 90's (Div 251 1995), so much change, it looks like it got easier!!!! SMH

  • Boot Camp was easy in the 90's (Div 251 1995), it looks like it got easier!!!! SMH

  • 3:19 - 3:24

i thought they won't allow the use of goggles?

  • wow way to make us look badass...

  • @ch1ngons1mon i was a grunt in the army and yeah this vid makes the navy look like a vacation noke joke intended

  • damn! im goin to MCRD Parris Island in 2012 but this shit looks more like a 5 star hotel than a recruit depot, or station or whatever its called in the navy... still much respect to every men and women serving in the US

  • I leave on June 7, 2011...feeling many different emotions but still cant wait till i go

  • THey sure have upgraded bootcamp since I went there in 93 lol.

  • leavin 20101207 hooyah!

  • Good luck to all of you joining the Navy! I got out last year after 22yrs. I went to Orlando RTC. Reported for duty onboard USS Wisconsin(BB-64). She's a MUSEUM now! haha. That's how you know you're getting old!!

  • leaving tomorrow, July 7th!! nervous as HELL

  • I am going to boot camp in a cople months. Is it true I cannot use my iPhone?

  • OMG I just remembered this chief. She chewed my ass off so bad because I was not double timing outside. Told the chief that my RDC told me not to run because I was on my way to repair my glasses.

  • i have a history of military fromdating back to the american revolution i plan to join the navy when im 18 or after college to become an officer

  • Thanks for the video Chief. It brings back a lot of great memories and allows me to see where the Navy has gone and what it has become.

  • that aint no boot camp lol. thats basic training. the navy will take any one =/

  • Yeah... for those who couldn't and/or didn't want to sign-up for the Marine Corps.

  • I was an HM3. I went to boot in San Diego as well as A school. Its a shame to see what the navy has become since I left in the 80s.

  • Holy Sh*t. best looking boot camp out there..

  • I ship out August...

  • @TheHaloStatePolice me too :)

  • i wish we had that much space in the racks on ships, and once you get to fleet if your part of the RHIB team you need 2nd class swim, you never swim at all (unless your deployed and do swim call shit). and VBSS team uses the shotgun . boot camp is a fucking joke

  • HOT chief on deck!!!!!!!

  • @doncorleyone the good looking ones are the meanest!!

  • Soooo where is all the yelling, discipline, and Military standards? This video makes it seem like a vacation at a resort. BTW, That chief is hot. Is she an actor? Is the Navy playing with us? Sigh...I would like to see a full blown no shit" you are a puke" type of video.

  • Damn that chief is hot for a Navy chick.

  • chief maier was one of my RDCs at bootcamp too... DIVISION 905 SHIP 06 HOOYAH

  • dope

  • WTF?! What the heck happened to the hangars we used to run in? The galley? The old-style buildings? That was what the recruits should experience! When I went in (div 189 1998) it felt as if I was walking into a part of history, now its all modernized and it looks like a high school :(

  • she didnt put up the saftey bar!

  • @Junsumoto i was just about to say that PUT YOUR FUCKIN SAFETY BAR UP CHEIF

  • I wish all chiefs in the NAVY looked like her

  • ah... navy boot camp..... i miss battle stations lol

  • @OvercomingTheDisease BRACE FOR IMPACT remember that?

  • wow. the racks look like actual racks in the fleet. I remember just having a matress on a bunk.

  • Shipmate you better but that safety bar up next time you lift up a rack... I had the Heaviest one with out Hydraulics. It sucked. JK btw

  • I'll be there in 35 days.

    Cant wait to get started.

  • Very politically correct.... Wheres the Intensicve Trainning and the beat downs??

  • im leaving for boot in 20 days and i enlisted as a seabee and im kinda disappointed that they dont have the M16 for small arms training. plus i got e-3 but it doesnt mean anything at boot camp except the extra stripes and pay. suposly im gonna be treated worse if mess up cause i should know what im doing

  • @rotcdrill Nah Man, you'll get treated like a dumbass until you reach e-5 ;)

  • Wow, Chief Maier was one of my RDCs at boot camp. Watching her be so "informative" is really bizarre for me!

  • Wait why is she so happy ? No one is happy at boot camp,LIES !!!! roflmao....

  • Im joinung the Navy pretty soon damn but i feel old lol...btw im 21 is that a good age to join

  • Im joinung the Navy pretty soon damn but i feel old lol...btw im 21 is that a good age to join

  • @heidym21 I joined at 27, and I had guys in my division in their 30s! You'll be right in the middle, I'm guessing.

  • In a video I saw at my recruiters office, they showed a glimpse of battle stations. @esareteequatro I get what your saying though; if they would not have shown it I would probably be more nervous about going to RTC and I still am because what you see can be totally different from what actually goes on. I just hope I do well and try my best.

  • they have a pimped out bootcamp compared to the marines and army lol

  • safety bar!!!!!!!! safety bar!!

  • @orpdizzle18 LMAO classic

  • didn't we have to save a waiver to not talk about battlestations?? i like the video for giving a glimpse into the life at RTC but i would have to say that this might be a little too in depth. the whole mental hardness of bootcamp for me was not knowing what was coming, if i had seen this before i went in december i wouldn't have been as nervous or excited to go to battlestations

  • Ugh!!! Seeing this 6 months after boot camp makes me angry. I dont think anyone should see battlestations unless they go through it! That night is huge for recruits n its memory is ruined now that i know anyone can experience this on YOUTUBE! I went through hell for that hat, and i liked the secrecy of right of passage!

  • Haha its like an episode of cribs

  • i thought it was MTV Cribs Navy Bootcamp edition hahaha

  • @2012rurede haha ya it does kinda have that mtv cribs vibe to it.

  • @2012rurede now here we can see where all the action would happen, but my RDC won't allow it.. and some people have a boat...well I got the USS Neversail yyyeeeeeaahhhhh boy!

  • wow, they were building those right before i finished BT

  • I hated that Golden Thirteen building.

  • USS The Sullivans, Ship 1, What!? 8 Years goes by quick!

  • Chief Maier is a fox!

  • I can't believe how much it has changed since my time in boot camp. Orlando RTC 02'

  • damn... it's been 10 yrs since i got out of that place.. haha... geez...

  • Eek! It's Chief! That's so awesome... Kinda hokey though too... I liked the bootcamp version of her better. "shut up you nut!" hehe

  • I had one RDC who sounded like Barney Rubble. Made it doubly funny when he stormed through and said "Get the Hell Out of your rack!" :D

  • the real boot camp is for the MARINES!!!

  • Can anyone answer this question for me? Can you go to a community collage for your RN, then enter the Navy? Would you go in as a officer or have to go in enlisted?

  • You have to have a Bachelors degree to enter the Navy as an officer.

  • @cameogirl11 you need your BSN if you want to be a officer

  • i feel that there is more that they are not telling us

  • Hey everybody, Im a real USN Sailor, and if you want to see an in depth tour of a sailors barracks just check out my page

  • she too hot to be a chief

and i love how she makes bootcamp seem so nice

  • hey that was my barrack, ship 14, 2nd deck, div 086. aint a damn thing change, except there is no snow out there

  • oh yeah fuckin sexy ass navy guys if it isn't a hot guy it's a man in a uniform!!!

  • yeah freedom hall sucked!!! i mizz bootcamp tho, uss chicago now on the reagan!

  • nothing hasnt changed one bit. Hoo-yah no more freedom hall

  • Navy boot-camp is a joke sorry lol, Prob going to get thumbs down from navy fan boy's.

Brother joined the navy and the navy is mostly a Classroom Boot-Camp more so then Physically.

  • yeah now adays it is. Not when i went through it though!

  • @HXRGuitar im in the navy man it wasnt a joke but it wasnt anything physically demanding just mental.

  • @HXRGuitar its true i dunno why youre getting thumbs down lol

  • Great Video!

  • lol SAFETY BAR

  • i went 02' ... i didnt have those nice racks...

  • wow the navy Has alot of nice things. The Army is pretty ghetto compared to what the Navy has. We are always training in the field and PT is done outside rain or shine.

  • I see not much has changed since 2003.

  • @MrSyriaalasad

It depends it is usually 2 months BUT you have to pass al test recuired from exercise to computer test. and battle station the most important. After that you are a US Saylor, just don get sick it is the worst thing ever.......... I recomende you that seriusly

  • She's HOT!!!

  • she was cheif of the deck at ship 5 (seps) when i was there

  • wow HMC RDC haha that kool brings back memories from a prior enlisted HM3 went through boot camp jan 05 - mar05

  • @jake847

yes it does....... everything too bad I got sick and was send home hahahha

  • Thank you Chief, but I think you left out medical/dental. Has the Marlinspike been removed from training with the addition of the new battle stations? I'm guessing the old chow hall has been torn down as well.

  • @JpoidMikeru We shot footage of the Marlinspike, however we had to cut it out due to time constraints.

    Thanks for your comments.

  • If you have that raw footage still, you should upload it! :P

Don't worry about editing, even if it's 3 hours long I'll still watch it.

I ship out in a few weeks and youtube has been a group source of material in my preperations. Along with amazondotcom. (bought a copy of the bluejacket off there)

There aren't allot of sailors where I live, being in the middle of a desert. So youtube has aloud me to listen to the words and wisdom of service men first hand.

  • @JpoidMikeru uss marlinspike is still up and then there is the trayneor for BS chow hall is down so now every ship has their own chow hall

  • @JpoidMikeru Nah... Marlinspike is still there.

  • Im thinking of enlisting so two questions would be: If I enlisted as a law enforcement officer or I think they call it an ma what would you do in that job. And also do you ride the bus to illinois or so you take a plane cause I'm in California?

  • @unicyclejim Your recruiter will send you to Sacramento MEPS if your close to there. You fly from Ca. to Chicago O'Hare and a bus will take you the rest of the way. The rate for military police or MP is not a rate that's easily accessible. The wait is close to a year, if not longer with the influx of recruits due to the recession. But still go for it if it works for you.

  • I'll be in the Advanced Electronics field. I swore in last week. I leave April 20th and looking forward to it.

  • @dbsti300 (chuckle) were you familiar with the "fashion show" or the term "making it rain"?

  • I just swore in last week. I'll be in the Advanced Electronics field. I leave April 20th. I can't wait

  • lol whats the point of taking shit in if you cant use it?? does all the military branches mail your shit back home if you bring it??

  • @djtechno101 navy lets you mail it home.army makes you put it in bags and put it in a closet then you get it back when you graduate.but i think the way the navy does it is better, they let ya send it home, because you wont need it,plus its too much extra baggage

  • i love how they left out all the BEAT sessions Basic Education And Training. this is the view they want u to have. it gives recruits a false sense of hope and makes it easier for a RDC to break them down quicker

  • @jutrup08 Sure I saw guys cry, big deal. They got with the program and we all helped each other along by the end of it. It would have been stupid not to. I still live by the core values.

  • If your thinking about joining the Navy just watch the video "Join the Navy not the Army". I went into the Navy in May and its just like the video, except there are more ladies and they are 10x hotter!

  • dont beleve it it is not that easy and that friendly reruit remember navy Never Voluntier your ass again

  • @william2230 its not never volinteer your ass again, its never again volinteer yourself

  • Orlando was great for Boot Camp!..Ahh the old days!

  • i really like us navy..and this comming apriL i will take the exam of ASVAB...i hope i pass that exam.!

  • @patchierck1 just score above a 55. Not too hard. I got 85 but I didn't finish the whole test.

  • @JpointMikeru

I hear ya, I have tooken the asvab twice. Once in highschool, without an opertunity to study (didn't know I was taking it) and at midnight (very sleepy) Got a 72.

Then has to retake it as meps, recruiter said I wouldn't have to so no study again. And I got bunked with a kid who kept me up all night, watching TV and what sound like dieing in his sleep....

    Got a 78... Moral is 55+ isn't hard.

  • i think theres no pass or fail. just depend on your score. if you scored low they put you in junk position. if you score high they make you make you look cute. just kidding. but u get the idea.

  • im 14 a freshman in highschool and i play on joining the navy not straight out of highschoo i plan on going to west point... and grad there

  • you can join the navy next year as a navy sea cadet.

  • the clothes and hair cut are temp. cameogirl11, it's boot camp not a fashion show. once you hit the fleet you can grow you hair out and you dont wear the PT clothes to work..lol

  • This sure and hell isn't RTC Orlando..Man I miss that place!..looks like these kids have it easier now then we did years ago..

  • @geminisixx4

One hasn't lived until they've drilled in 92 degree factor humidity in July, on the Grinder.

  • @johnhs3SoCal dang my dad told me all about the grinder,by hearing about it from him.i was like dang, that sucks!!.ya july is the worst month to do training.i agree

  • i cried on the grinder ;(

  • Mxxgreene, Dude SHow some respect for the navy, when our corpsman like myself have been saving your asses like our own blood for 111 years now..oorah Corpsman!

  • dont go in winter if you can help it trust me

  • Jesus I am having flashbacks from this place..lol

  • Navy bootcamp isn't all that bad. I'll be honest and say that I was a little disappointed that it wasn't very challenging when it comes to workouts but other than that, I had a nice time. And besides, I could always do all of my workouts in the base :)

  • Huh, they teach you to swim at the USS Indianapolis building. That's reassuring.

I wonder if they set sharks on you...

  • on your right side 6 inches get there

  • Comment removed

  • this looks so easy. i tried to join the navy this past summer but they wouldnt take me because i have too many tattoos so i went to the army instead. a little disapointed but i like how intense and more physical the army basic is.

  • Things have changed since I joined. I tell you ever since the economy went into the crapper more people join and it makes it more competitive and harder to advance. I know my rate the quotas for advancement dropped from 64% to 37%

  • With all these new recruits joining because of the economy it is making advancement more competitive. My quotas for my rate dropped to 39% this cycle but at least I made it.

  • that is completely different from what i remember almost 7 years ago

  • They get handed a baseball cap when they graduated and we get and eagle globe and anchor. Greenside docs get mad respect though.

  • must be nice

  • Red Rope Run like hell! Yeah did you tell them about IMT? Did you tell them about the freedom train? I went to this bootcamp. Way back in the day 1994. Ugh...

  • This female Chief looks nice, but I know If I was still a recruit, she would treat me like total shit, and since when did they started wearing goggles when you swim?

  • navy seal recruits wear the goggles

  • navy boot camp seems like a walk in the park compared to marine corp boot camp

  • @thegame245...marines are bred for combat . navy is for surface warfare. big difference same branch. But working together as one. ----> Doc

  • one team one fight.

  • that god damn a/b drawer, what a joke.........LOL....i don't miss stuffing everything possible into that damn drawer......what a bitch.

  • "let us show you everything but the yelling" LOL :)

  • lul she looks a lil too perky for being in a naval training facility

  • Navy recruits wouldn't last a second in parris island....USMC

  • No Marine can ever compare to the true warrior of Sea Air and Land, NAVY SEALs.........the skills and physical abilities are unmatched even by the Marines best.......i should Dept of the Navy i.e. Marines.

  • 1st Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendelton, Calif, used to be a vicious P.O.G.. and I was still getting some.. OOORAH.. SWIFT SILENT DEADLY.. YOU DONT HAVE SHIT ON THAT WITH YOUR LIL MUDSKIPPERS
