  • I'VE BEEN A DOORS FAN FOR OVER 40 YEARS, TRAVIS DOES AN EXCELLENT JOB ON THIS SONG

  • i love his scream

  • incredible

  • Travis Meeks was 21 years of age when he did this. 21! Just felt like sharing.

  • jim was a drug addict and so was travis so of course he did this song just as good as jim :)

  • 5:57-6:00

    MY FACE JUST MELTED

  • kickcopper10- I won't give up on Travis.

  • Travis is the best! Days of the New with the Doors! Fuck yeah

  • Holy Crap, he sounds just like Jim!

  • And he's autistic........... Double-glazed titanium balls. If such a term does not exist, do not waste your time in pointing it out.

  • @veshijr101

he is not autistic he has aspergers diease which is a little different then autism:)

  • @crazyclownwithafrown Asperger Syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder; hence, it is a form of autism.

  • They look at travis like, alright, this kid is taking some, so he knows the shit hes doing.

  • There's always one idiot who dislikes musical talent

  • This guy had kahonas made of titanium just to ATTEMPT this song - the fact he pulled it off left everyone else who performed that night left writhing in his wake.

    A quite excellent performance.

  • Why is it when you listen to the Doors, you feel like your on an acid trip?

  • 5:50 gawdaaaaaaaaamn!

  • Amazing version.

  • beautiful

  • I don't care what anybody says...That's my boy! I don't know many musicians who would even have the balls to attempt that song and he's fuckin fearless w/ it. He's one of the best and most amazing musicians I have ever met and I love his punk ass lol

  • gettin to play with surviving members of the Doors? wtf! huge shoes to fill but Travis sounded great :)

  • Wow! Good JOB TRAV!

I never liked the thought of a replacement for Jim... Unfortunatley that guy from the Cult, sucked at it. Damn, travis nailed it.

Keep it up travis, please try to stay.......

  • @chasboy77 travis did nail it, but your totally wrong about ian from the cult..i got the chance to see the doors with ian and if you closed your eyes, you would of sworn morrison was singing..

  • Prop's to Travis for getting sober.

  • unbelievable talent i just hope he doesn't waste it. i Saw him in a small setting in houston he was bad ass!!!

  • I got a version of Travis playing this song solo on his acoustic guitar and its amazing. Would post it but its almost 15min long.

  • @sawdoff1100 I would love to see that

  • @jenveno well i don't have it on video but i have the audio for it and my account was just upgraded too allow me to post 15 min vids. i'll try and get it posted up its really good, i actually got a few diffrent recording from diffrent shows of him performing it, i'll post the best one i got.

  • @sawdoff1100 haha, well i guess i already posted a while back its in too part visit my channel and you will see it in my vids. Enjoy. also if you got an email i got several versions of this song i could share if you want, they are all live either solo or with his band.

  • Kinda got a Morrison sounding voice

  • standing ovation.

  • This is amazing. And on a superficial and unimportant note, Travis, doll, grow your hair back! You were fine as fuck back in the day. Now you look kinda douchy. But kudos on the beautiful performance, which is more important!

  • @RachaelBooks now? this was years ago. check out recent videos before you make your superficial comments.

  • @mblovesdotn I looked at recent pics and saw the short hair. Maybe he grew it back. i hope so! Besides, I owned that it was superficial as I said it. But hey, thanks for throwing it back at me. XP

  • @RachaelBooks His hair is falling out due to his meth abuse

  • Travis you arent Jim...but for your time you are in class with Layne, Jim, Kurt, and all the other great rockers of all time. You never followed rules and you still succeeded. Thank God for souls like yours that give us a break from the usual when we need it most.

  • OMG! you made it travis! no matter what you do the rest of your life, this is the greastest honor in my eyes that you could achive in rock and roll. i partied back stage with you at a venue in toledo back in 99, that was a helluva night! im the guy that had the girlfriend that couldnt make it because she broke her leg that day, you guys were inpressed because i came anyways, and signed a poster for her an gave me a backstage pass! i had a great time dude glad you made it to the top!

  • travis is better than morrison no doubt

  • @27419917 yea i would agree morrison can't play an guitar like travis can, hell i dont know many ppl at all that can play a guitar like Travis Meeks.

  • I think the keyboard dude has Parkinson's 2:27

  • AWESOME BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO

  • Travis did hell of a job with this. Like john said, this song is a bitch to do. Travis did this his way, and basicly said Im not a morrison wannabe. So sit back toke your doobie and let Travis and the doors take you for a ride with this song.

  • @bohs1984 Eddie V are Scott W went commercial. All about the dollar. Great artists, but TM still has that tortured, starving artist soul, man. He made it, but he is trying to make it.

  • hmm I think only Jim can sing this song and give it the true feeling the song has, for the way I see him he does nothing for the song except for singing, and maybe that's why Ray and Robby don't play the song anymore, this is the Jim's song, that's the way it is, anyway in this one the instrumentation is fantastic!!

  • Yes definetely a "beautiful haunting".....perfectly described. Meeks is a true artist. With that, comes my old adage......Your best asset is also your worst enemy. Love him. If he can cut through the darkness just enough to keep performing.......he will be golden.

  • Travis Meeks, at a very young age, had the musical talent and strength to stupefy The Doors! Amazing.

  • Travis truly amazes me. He is a musical genious!

  • Stellar performance by Travis Meeks! The Doors could never replace Jim but if you wanted to attempt to bring a pure tone that Jim himself would be pleased with then well here it is.

  • É a melhor versão de The End que já vi e ouvi!!!

    Esse cara é muito foda!!!!

  • hell yeah!!! travis meeks is a badass

look at ray manzarek at 6:27!!

  • amazing! how intimidating would it be to be the "new guy" in a band like that doors...and travis just owned it! wicked bro!

  • bravo bravo bravo

  • Is this this the doors song or Travis haha just kidding. Travis does it great though.

  • Fucking awesome,What a voice and musical instinct.

Come on baby take a chance with us.

  • I hung out with travis in his louisville studio for a year and have been playing drums for 20 years , i have never been near anyone so talented , he sounds better in an empty room with just a guitar than even on the cds.

  • @hereiamagain1000

I have no doubt about it. I started playing the drums @ 8 years old. Then got into Production and engineering. Now starting next month I'm taking up Bass. I'm really envious of you. I wish I could sit with travis and tell him what his music meant to me. Yellow, Green , Red, I mean these albums changed me into something better. Thank you HereIamagain and DOTN for everything,.

  • God Travis what happened? You're so damn incredible. DOTN was the greatest blessing of Music I can think of. You are such an inspiration. Please come back and bless us with both your writing and voice again.

By the way, DOTN Green album, saved my life more than once.

So please " take me back then."

  • Travis' voice is unbelieveble.

  • I always felt this particular song was good, but very self indulgent on Morrison's part.. The part about his mother wasn't necessary.. Not really..

  • If Buckethead is the most underrated guitar player out there, Travis Meeks is the most underrated singer out there. This guys was called to be the next Chris Cornell but something went wrong in his life and now he barely makes a penny. I hope we can hear from this guy soon, he's 31 so he can be back on track for sure.

  • The cool thing about Travis' performance here is that, unlike a lot of others who've stepped up to the plate, he didn't try to ape Morrison's voice or mannerisms. He just did his thing.

  • @pjperez oh yea, Travis should be the frontman and not Assberry(Astbury). I seen Doors of 21st Century in early 2000s and it was hard work watching them due to Assberry's acting and turning the band into its own tribute act. We left during Light My Fire :-| Wouldnt ever pay to see em again with Assberry is "front man" :(

  • @daveygabc Did you fall & hit your head?

  • @pjperez i agree with you. He sounds like himself and also he does sound like Jim in his own shit too. Ive seen Travis live and hung out with him he is an awsome dude. I have this on my music player and every time it comes on i almost think it is the origianl live.

  • @pjperez the best version since Jim dies...!!

  • Comment removed

  • yeah this guy showed everyone up this concert. This is beautifully haunting

  • Travis was easily the best vocalist out of all of the "greats" that were on stage that night with the remaining Doors. I was a huge DOTN fan at the time and I knew he'd be great but he totally blew me away. I was SOOOO proud of him when I saw this on vh1

  • this is fukn goosebumps ! 5 stars

  • Wow I bet Travis's dreams came true when The Doors members agreed to play this song with him. Wootwoot! love ya Travis. =)

  • saw him perform this w/ DOTN @ the Mercury Lounge in (I believe) it was 2004? Outstanding. Was standing about 30 ft. away from him.

  • PHUCKEN AWESOME

  • Good very Good but not near as good as Jim.......Jim was and is the best....

  • better than morrsion

  • @josephpeters239 agrees

  • better indeed . TRAVIS IS THE BEST TO EVER TOUCH AN ACOUSTIC. AND HIS VOICE IS MUCH MORE POWERFUL THAN JIMS. JIM WAS STILL GREAT . IT WAS JIMS SOUL THAT MADE HIM. GREAT. LSD TO LOL

  • Great.

  • Nice job Travis. Please come back kiddo...
