  • ...so this is where Jazz and BM meet.

  • good drummer .... remind me of gen hoglan

  • @lordchadidaoud Too bad Czral can't play drums anymore due to the accident :C

  • singing for swans seems like a interesting prospect, too bad I can't sing

or know where to find Swans, outside of the kitchen

  • Hm. Oppdager mye bra musikk når man leser Nemi.

  • superb

  • This guy made Black Thrash Attack!

  • Why this album isn't one of the most celebrated in the history of metal I will never understand.

  • Czral was one of my favorite drummers. Too bad he had to fall out of a building. Now he can't make crazy drum lines like the ones in this song.

  • pure post-swing rap core. right here

  • One of the adds on the bottom of the video is "UK Christian Dating"! Seriously? In that video?

  • SICK FUCKING TUNE HERE MATE!!!!!

  • Eerie, dark, stunning, great unique music...

  • Why does art have to be subject to liittle babies whining....

  • @jumpfart666 It's the internet's fault, art is innocent!

  • So we have a bunch of band comparison happy misplaced "cymbal" crybaby fags here? If you dnt like it write something better fucking morons!!! If you don't like it why bother bitching? I for one think you're douchebags for complaining....go back to your Metallica and Winger records and let the ADULTS enjoy this......,,,,

  • Seriously, Deathspell Omega must have taken notice of these guys.

  • @Deathstick88

I agree, my jaw would drop if I found out VBE didn't influence Deathspell to be honest.

  • This is really interesting. There is a disharmony with the sounds in the background and the vocals, but somehow it all fits together to make it so that I can't stop listening. The Dali-esque album cover helps too.

  • fuck..... someone had painted that cover somewhere..... i saw it ages ago

at an old flat when i was like....fuck...weird

  • @anaemiabag

who is the painter of the album cover? wher have you seen that picture exactly?

  • Ved Buens Ende + spliff + wine = bliss.

  • Comment removed

  • Strange, I don't like their music, but I can't stop listening to it.

  • Carl-Michael Eide also played guitar on VBE.

  • past changing fast remastered listen on myspace/kailashofficial

  • UNIQUE MASTERPIECE!!

  • DSO kinda sounds like this

  • @Bagas Nop

  • dette er jo helt rått..

  • THE OPENING CONCEPTUAL RIFF IS REPEATED FOR A WHOLE MINUTE

    THE WEED TUMBLES ONWARD

  • 0:22 the symbol is definitly off time. its supposed to be, just doesnt sound good to me.

  • @MisanthropeMr You are off time man. This is Avant-Garde,it's supposed to be like that.

  • Nothing is off time on that song, everything fits perfectly!

  • this bands great but i cant get down with this song. i think its that really offtime weird sounding symbol at the start

  • awesome music. if only they made more of these divine compositions

  • the album is 15 years long. they were ahead of theri time, the least.

  • Ved Buens Ende are the best avant garde black metal band, followed by Fleurety,

  • Uno de los mejores discos de los 90...una obra de arte!

  • i just wish they could write a new album

  • this is a great album!

  • It is music, one step further..

I like this kind of acoustic deformation...

p.s. I think that cover of the album reminds me Salvador Dali's painting...

  • Best vocalist ever. Fact. Those dip shi*s who say hes bad havent got a clue. There will never be vocals as haunting in any metal band again ever. Forever.

  • Norway = Black metal LOL!!!!!

  • This album is a gem, just like Fleurety's 'Min Tid Skal Komme', which is also reissued, repacked and enhanced.

  • Okay, the vocals (first were like wtf?shocker) are kinda bad imo, the drumming is alright but nothing to get your panties in a knot about, and THIS IS NOT BLACK METAL.

Other than that its good. :P

  • @NightRanger77

    "THIS IS NOT BLACK METAL"

    who gives a f*ck?

  • Those who may be looking for black metal may be disappointed.

  • @NightRanger77

who gives a f*ck about them?

  • @NightRanger77 why would you look for black metal at bands like this one? If so those people should probably more disappointed at their lack of intellect rather than the fact they failed to find black metal...

  • @ainumahtar Well, yeah, the fact that I found out about them through a friend and tried listening to it on youtube. I had no existing knowledge of the sound as he likes to give rec's and tell ya to look it up if you want to.

  • @NightRanger77 I think the drumming is perfect. It just works well. And I like the vocals. And it does have a blackmetal vibe, even though it's technically not black metal. But let's agree on that it's good ;) Music like this shouldn't be overanalyzed anyway ^^

  • Brilliant stuff.

  • I love Carl-Michael Eide's drumwork. Too bad I don't think he'll ever drum like that again.

  • @therealdooz Agreed! He outblasted them all! Truly one of the biggest tragedies in Scandinavian metal!:( Thats why I didn't hit the thumbs up...

  • I love LOVE this band. Nothing has ever sounded like them, it sounds so discordant and out of place but in the end it fits together so nicely. The vocals are outstanding and really go with the melancholy of the music, the black metal shrieks just contrast the melancholic nature and it turns aggressive, like a breaking point. Heart this.

  • @NightRanger77 Try Voivod or Kayo Dot :)

  • Simply the best norwegian avantgarde band...

  • Since the very first second I've knew that's one of the most important songs ever heard by me. Incredible...

  • "Skoll - Bass" he's Arcturus' basist, isn't he?

  • I don`t know. What i know is that he used to play bass in Ulver.

  • And also in Arcturus. just saw it...

  • Comment removed

  • @biqueiradas yes sir

  • @biqueiradas yes sir

  • Hugh Steven James Mingay aka Skoll (Arcturus (Nor), Fimbulwinter, Ulver)

  • @immortalx50 yes he is

  • @immortalx50 Something like that, yes.

  • If ilke it today maybe tomorrow i don't want or i can't get into this anymore or even so often.Ιt's simple,it's ok.

  • These things are not for analysis and talking. These things are to feel not to think. It's not important if it's technic or unique or beautiful or melodic or dark or melancholic etc. It's a kind of ambient music. It's an experience of a moment. Not a way of life or a wide music preference. I like it and you not or reverse.

  • @Agte1234 I could not have said it better myself. Nice to see when people 'get' it :)

  • @Agte1234 You may understand my point, or not, but there is an absolute good music and bad music, in the heart of the listener. It's not relative to anything absolute, it is relative to all you've heard before. Even if it works against it all, At the Rainbow's End works toward bringing about good music, they're not against you. The emotion in this song, and others, is real. If you dismiss them, you don't know music.

  • @pryletoncyo i not talk about ''preconditions'' of someone to accept or not the originality of that music and emotions... what have you say about someone who can trip, in the past, in their music and he can't anymore, now he suddenly stop know about good music? how i can wait by someone who even can't get into that music to accept that originality, and why i have to care? exactly because of originality of emotion there will be ever seperate opinions about such original musics.

  • how you define the right knowledge of music? for someone who listen Guetta and such things it's also objective that this is real music with rhythm, simplicity, mainstream happy feeling without puzzles. maybe for someone who plays classical or jazz or latin, to him VBE seems like sad/weird and mediocre rock based kind of ambient. it's all about the EXPERIENCE which of course have to do with the time if talks to you or not. especially for such musics the mood is their special point.

  • @pryletoncyo when you want and get really into and taste the experience then you will understand the originality and i believe about VBE that's for sure.

  • It's hard when somebody sings from the heart, instead of singing to entertain you.

  • So you go and look it up on youtube? Are you suuuure you don't like it? :P

  • sounds like Master of Disguise (Arcturus)

    totally liked it :)

  • Everything but the clean vocals are good, I just cant get into those damn vocals though which is lame :\

  • Just listen to what you fucking like, this is quality music havent listned to anything like this since later gorguts, very unconventional which is what music should be like obscure!

  • Amazing! The same sound of fleurety! I love! :D

  • This is the music that the new bands should take notes from. Just brilliant and powerful. Suck that Norma Jean.

  • satans he's in these fuckin tunes....

    elitarian music

  • Mastodon is for stupid american kids.

VBE is art in every musical way

  • ...Do you think it's cool to bash a band only because it's popular and everyone is doing it?

Personally, I don't see any problem if one likes Mastodon.

See, I think it isn't convenient to judge a band by their fanbase. For exemple, If I had to consider people like you, I should have assumed this band is terrible (which is not)!

So, in conclusion, I recommend Mastodon to anyone who is open-minded enough to not issue such childish statements like that sneeuwnan666 guy does.

    And btw, VBE rules.

  • "So, in conclusion, I recommend Mastodon to anyone who is open-minded."

    Second that

...being a intellectual is for me to be open minded with the ability sort out whats relevant and not, and having the ability to put own words on estethical subjective experiences. Bands that have a intellectual approach would proablay encourage their listeners to open minded as well, since the music they create is a result of being a open minded thinker. Best, Sandemose

  • To Sandemose: Yeah, exactly! I couldn't have said it better!

Music like this (and even Mastodon's) can only come from open-minded musicians. Carl-Michael Eide himself (the singer and drummer of Ved Buens Ende) stated in an interview that he listens to everything from Arvo Pärt (a classical music composer) to Darkthrone!

  • ok, you were right, I had heared not that much of a song of mastodon, it was blood & thunder, and in the first seconds of the clip, I thought it was wat I posted.

now I have come to sences and I aknowledge mastodon and I am hearing it right now!

actually i am also going to their concert and I am realy diging it!

so I'm sorry for the stupid post...

VBE & Mastodon are both great!

  • To sneeuwman666: Now THAT's what I wanted to hear from you! The issue wasn't if Mastodon are good or not, but it was about not judging a band without even listening to their music. I think that song "Blood And Thunder" had misled you, 'cause it's one of their most commercial songs (still very good, though), but once you listen to one of their albums entirely, you understand what's the point of their music.

So, it's nice to hear those things from you! Stay metal, dude!

  • @ducadimantova91 I agree with all of this except Mastodon are kind of crap

  • @TheOrangeFondler I am open-minded enough to acknowledge Mastodon are fairly turgid. Ved Buens Ende, on the other hand, are rather good.

  • @ducadimantova91 However, one could reply by noting that association is not causation. In other words, there could be a correlation between a band's popularity and how shitty they are, but that doesn't mean that one of these causes the other; there are several factors that are put into effect. Also, I do in fact believe in such a correlation, but bands are not shitty because they are popular.

  • Every self respecting adorer of the finer metal arts should have this fuckin album!

  • It took me 2 years to find it here in Greece. This record is a Masterpiece of Art. Be blessed, Norway...
