Also, in response to Bananaz112266- Kennedy's personal weaknesses (his womanizing) are his only true flaws and Frank Sinatra was an acquaintance of his family's,not a close friend. Kennedy did not have good friends in the mafia and his brother Bobby did NOT work with Hoover(ever!)but against him!Hoover was a rascist, bitter man who was against the Kennedys. It is wise to do your research before making such criticisms.

Kennedy kept us from the brink of nuclear holocaust, when the soviets brought us to the edge of war he did all within his power as a leader and a politician to make things come out right! Picture this, you're 10 years old and your parents are stockpiling canned food and water because you live in the heart of the oil refining center of the world, and your parents tell you that if the missiles launch they will head straight for you. A couple of strikes at the TX, LA Gulf Coast and this nation would have been brought to its knees. I had recurring nightmares for months and months, almost had to go to therapy. It was REAL, JFK and his sense of reason saved all of us.
..clarity and depth, as was he incredibly intelligent. Taking responsibility for the Bay of Pigs fiasco was an honorable choice, and if you can imagine all that pressure he must have been under for that disaster...just entered office, asked to make a desicion like that, that the previous administration had just left hanging for you, and then have the CIA botch it, it reflected badly on the administration and it clearly took someone of his character to face that and not allow the people to see

I'm sorry, but if you DO dig deeper, you will see that it was Kruschev who sent the missiles to Cuba and began the Cuban Missile Crises. It was Kennedy and Bobby, who (with their patience, reservation and intellegience) kept us from a Nuclear War.
Right and the reason those missles were sent to Cuba by the Russians was because the U.S.A was threatening to invade Russia, and also the States had missiles in Turkey facing Russia...so the Russians sent the missiles in a "if you fire, I'll fire" kind of circumstance
