I SO AGREE with time-limits and spending limits!! If people announced their candidacy in say... JUNE of the election year there would be PLENTY of time to do everything that needs to get done - have a few debates and then have one three day weekend during which polls are open in every state to vote in primaries in say... September. Blah, blah, blah... my mouth just never stops running - I am actually muttering the words I am typing. me, me, me.
How dare you endorse campaign finance reform! This is a free country. Are you trying to prevent the huge corporations from buying candidates? They need to influence politicians so they can outsource our jobs, hire illegal aliens and continue to make record profits. Do you actually expect them to pay their taxes? That would make deficit spending unnecessary fool.
Hey, I for one look forward to your cultural videos being that they are the closest thing to actual travel I will experience prior to my children becoming self-suficient (40?).
I owe allegiance to neither party, but I tend to agree with McCain on the most issues, so I have to give my vote to him. I do like Obama, and wouldn't bitch and moan if he won, but he's a little too left wing for me.
Hillary is just too divisive. I don't hate her, but I think politics would get really ugly if she won.
THANK YOU for making this video! It seems so much like people are voting simply on appearance, likablility, or something along these lines instead of what really matters: the issues! I saw an Obama supporter who is against Hillary because she's pro-choice..does that make sense?
At least you made a video, ppl like ian crossland wouldnt shut his big mouth about politics for a month. when it starts to come down he just made those videos to get on the cnn/youtube debates.
It's to bad that people don't pay more attention to politics and a lot of people run with ideas that other people say, like some of the things you said (oh we have never had a women president or a black president, why not) thats a stupid reason. I have done lots of research on this and i have to say that i support Barack Obama for President.
BARACK OBAMA!!!! Hillary is completely arrogant and all she begins every answer with "Well, I've been in this business for over 35 years, and blah blah blah" instead of actually answering with her stance. I can't stand her!! and why can't she really represent women and be more stylish instead of trying to look like the men for christ's sake. She jumps around on issues all of the time. AND LADIES, IF YOU ARE GOING TO VOTE FOR HER JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN THEN YOU ARE A SEXIST!!!!!!!!
women who kinda like Obama but refuse to vote for him because they want a woman pres is SO Sexist.
And when they asked her in a couple debates "how will you bring change to the white house"
"well, I'm a woman and having a woman president is definitely change."
BULLS**T
I want the first woman president to be a GOOD president. if she gets voted into office and does as bad a job as i think she will, it'll destroy the possibility of future female presidents in the (near?) future.
JulianMKelly, Yes, true, true... I think most people realize that.
In Japan they have NO choice at all... there was one case, a few years back, when the Prime Minister died and the new Prime Minister was chosen overnight in a secret meeting.
Then Japan is like America, because we too have no choice at all. The house of representatives is the only house that is directly elected by the people...and they have the least power. So basically, we have the illusion of choice.
Better than the UK. Here the prime minister is elected by the other ministers. Gordon Brown did no even lead the party through an election -- he simply inherited the leadership.
I don't know much about politicians and they don't know much about me. So we have a agreement they find ways to raise my taxes and I find ways to avoid paying them. This seems to be working out just fine.
I'm voting for Ron Paul because I think he is the most knowledgeable about economics and foreign policy. Also, he is the only one I trust to not only get us out of Iraq and Afghanistan, but to end the american empire and bring our troops home. He truly understands our constitution and the ideas behind it.
I love that you provide links in your past videos. It's SO helpful to learn more about the topics you speak on. Thank you. There's also a site with a GREAT poll/questions and it basically tells you which candidate has the closest to your personal views. Mine was so close between all the democratic candidates. So, I suppose whichever democratic candidate gets on the ballot, I suppose that's who I'm voting for. lol
Seriously, take a listen to Ron Paul, it's so annoying that people only talk about who the media talks about. They're keeping him out of the spotlight for a reason. All these candidates claiming to bring change, but they don't bring crap.
The only candidate actually willing to bring back the Gold Standard (actual sound money), willing to REALLY end the war, etc
your voice sounds like your 14...retard. You know whats funny to me ? you live in japan thatells me the room in the background is your appartment. I bet you share a bathroom and kitchen with other inhabitants. How i know that? bums like you cant keep up with te rents in japan lol

I am the punisher that will expose your sins
Great video! I'm not American but Ron Paul is the best candidate so far (i donated him some perhaps), he has large understanding about economics and its the ONLY candidate that talks about it openly, he want to stop spending, end the war on Iraq, stop interventionism, get rid of useless "socialist" policies like Obama and Hillary promote (universal health care= everybody pays, nobody gets), and the best of all= RESTORE THE CONSTITUTION!
Ron Paul is the only one that will save the world from America being used as the policemen of the world. Ron Paul will stop the North American Union, and Real ID card. Ron Paul is the only one with a record of following the Constitution. Voting for any of the others will end America by 2010. Oh Canada and Mexico too.
The reason I was asking was I find it intriguing also to see either one actually come to fruition and how much of a factor sex/race may be this time.
I believe there are voters that will decide on those factors because like you say it has never be done for and that is almost a draw in it's own right.
Even more interesting is their rise to candidates in the first place. Can Hilary's success be attributed to her appeal to a female vote, or is it majorly due to her history in politics and in the case of Obama what has contributed to his rise, when considering the possibility of a black candidate say 10 years ago, can it be put down to a decision prompted by a change in political climate or have his promises of drastic reform really made the difference.
A video is in the works but as ever it takes me ages to assemble all the appropriate clips, and the reason for my suspension has made me take a step back on how I do things but I gurantee you will be entertained by it. I'm aiming for completion by the weekend.
I love the japanese vids...to be honest your earlier basic japanese lessons are the reason I subscribed, and after I learned them, the other vids are the reason I've stayed subscribed. I would love to see another japanese culture/language vid. If you want I can give some ideas for what you could talk about. Thanks and keep it up!
Good points too many ppl jump on the bandwagon it's ridiculous. Everyone agrees taxes suck and war is bad. Ppl need to look at specific legislative initiatives, actually read up on what is involved and make decisions on that. DON'T LET TV TELL YOU WHO TO VOTE FOR! Words like "progressive" and "change" are meaningless by themselves.
Part 1~ I wrote an article 2 years ago on my news blog that is still there...but I predicted Hillary would be our next president. I also predicted that we would see a much larger activist voting amongst minorities and the young. I hate to high five myself,lol...~Raven
part 2~ but America wants someone on the other side of the fence that looks completely different than Bush. An African American is a wonderful choice but people will vote for Hillary because of Bill. They will feel safer with the 2 than just Obama. Just my thoughts...~Raven
The entire two years (one and a half years so far) leading up to the 2008 election are completely ridiculous, and a disgusting display of the media's...eh, I'm not going to get into this now.
Keep in mind, the American media literally started this whole Clinton vs. Obama thing a day after the last congressional election.
Voting is a waste of time, the electorate is a farse, the states are already decided one way or the other, and when they're not the supreme court empowers the wrong guy anyway. Think of the man hours the country looses alone. The way America votes we'd be better with two royal familes, and they can take turns in power messing everything up.
Tomarrow im placing my vote for the only "True" statesmen running. Congeressmen Ron Paul. He has the only concrete record out of all the others, Never for an unbalenced budget, never voted to raise his congressinal pay. In fact in 2007 he returned $75,000-back to the US-tresaury. Ive never heard of a polictian doing that, Have you? He's a strong defender of our 2nd amendment rights, knowing its the gardian of all rights. So im stead fast voting for Ron Paul.
I love Romneys quote "I hate the thought of having Bill Clinton back in the White House with nothing to do." Another Clinton administration would be disastrous. If Obama wins we'll have Oprah running our country. I'm still VERY undecided.
amnesia: Romney is a Mormom, which means he thinks Israel's lost tribe made its way to America in the pre-Columbian era and became "white Indians." Keep in mind that they're still Jewish white Indians, whatever that means.
Believe me Web, Romney is the last person I want to see win. I know his beliefs VERY well as I'm living right in the middle of his cooky religion :) I did find his comment of good old Bill to be quite funny though :)
You can dl Mahers show form torrentz. His HBO show. Romney stole the clinton joke. I was responding to amnesiablonde . Maher is fucking hilarious. Funniest show on tv.
every candidate (almost) has talked about campaign finance reform, and none got much done. i agree, it should be reformeds and simplified. well said, too many people vote on who is tall, who is handsome, etc. vote, even for the wrong person! peace.
I try to stay informed on the candidates and issues and I really like youtube's sponsored channels. That way I can watch a variety of people and hear what they have to say. I'm trying to avoid the spin and attacks, like the ones you stated. It seems pretty obvious to me that they aren't true.
I'm curious why you can't vote? Although we all learned that absentee votes aren't really counted, well unless...
Make a presidential primary AMV. Great way to mix politics with Japanese culture. I only kid. =P
I am leaning towards McCain at the moment. He is surprisingly liberal for a Republican. Like you said he is also for campaign finance reform. Most politicians are partisan dividers. I feel that McCain would be a great candidate to help ease the divide between the two parties. Just because you did not like Bush, don't write him off because he is a Republican.
Hmmmm....gonna keep my pick to myself for now....but I will say this. Hillary is an idiot. It's entirely appropriate that there is a toilet brush in her image.
The US president is both head of state and head of government. In Japan there is a head of state (the emperor) and a head of government (the prime minister).
You're so right... and even though you can't vote, I think it's important for everybody in the world to watch this election. Depending on who we end up with, our foreign policy could get even worse.
I thought that most mainstream US politicians had at least some grudging respect for Regan era (at least enough to not mention it), but Hillary has been speaking against it.
I think the best presidential debate would be Romney vs Obama. Their styles are totally different. Romney's speeches are full of facts and details whereas Obama just talks a lot of very optimistic hot air really.
Hey buddy, Ron Paul is the ONLY choice. And for what it's worth, you get on my nerves. That's the beauty of the FREEDOM our Constitution grants us. We have the right to dislike whomever we want. You are welcome to dislike me too.
Theoremaxim, You have only 1 vid that I can find that even has you in it. Make more vids & you might be able to get on my nerves. :) The one vid of you I've seen seems fine.
Your dog ran away and came back? You can't be all that bad.
And if your dog is named Maggie, I gotta like you. That's my dog's name.
Gimmeabreakman, I suggest you look into free market theory before voting for a Democrat. Of course, before voting for a Republican, you might want to look into fascism. Both Parties are now statists and the American tradition that that led us to be the world economic leader is surely dead. If enough people pick up a book every now and then, maybe, just maybe, we can get back to the course John Adams and T.J. set us on.
you got me, nobody is left. I think the only way is to start building coalitions that refuse to vote for statists. Either the party's will shift to accommodate those voters or eventually we could have enough to get our own candidate in. It sucks. Right now I'm planning to write in Ron Paul in the general election.
your comment about too much money in the campaigns is retarded. American's spend $12 billion in the two weeks leading up to Easter on Candy. If Americans actually gave a shit, more money would be in politics. Money isn't the problem. At least the candidates are trying to penetrate politics into the dead brains of Americans watching American Idol.
DCUPtoejuice, Interesting point about spending money. That's a good point, but I still think there should be some kind of cap. You can control that kind of stupidity.
I appreciate your intent. But please consider that this is nothing more than restricting free speech. People who want to get a message out should put their time and money behind it and just because someone has more money to tell others what he/she thinks they should think doesn't mean we have the right to restrict their activities. Transparency and an informed public is the only answer that is acceptable unless you want to take a big dump on the first amendment like John McCain and Russ.
I think the politicians should work for the people, not their contributers. I think its sick that money is the guiding factor for who stays in the race.
but you have to realize that people casts votes, that is who decides. As long as their is transparency in who is giving people money and how it is spent, the people can decide how to factor that into their decision. If you start infringing on people's rights to free speech and to spend their money as they see fit, you end up without the rights our government is intended to protect. The internet is a huge equalizer right now on the financial front.
lobbyists, campaign contributions? How is this an fair? Its natural that people will do favors for their benefactors. Its wrong in this case, but its expected. The politicians are to represent all people, not just the ones with the deep pockets. I think the system is woefully flawed in this regard.
here we go again. transparency is the key. the people vote for those they want. if someone takes money from lobbyists you don't like, don't vote for them. the people have the power, because the people have the vote, but unfortunately Americans have become uninterested in their country and are lazy. In the early years of our Republic turnout was 80%, now it is less than 40%. Blame the people, we get what we deserve.
Oh, ok, vote in the literal sense? Or the ones that are on the cover of time magazine and are the only ones with a chance in hell because they have millions of dollars backing them which HAS to affect policy.
true, but the amount of money in politics is not large. Ron Paul proved this, with only 10% support and little chance of winning, he raised 30 Million and was competitive. People should donate more.
I love Ron Paul. Its ironic that you mention him as he is the only candidate that is running on doing less. So his supporters (his financial backers) want him to do nothing rather than something. Which is great. In this I'm not complaining. It's when Bush starts a war over oil because he has old debts to pay is when things get raunchy.
If he toned it down a bit then I don't see why he wouldn't have had a chance. He is a very good candidate, but declaring that he wants to get rid of the CIA, FBI and department of education is not diplomatic enough.
It's going to be obama vs mccain or romney. It'd be nice if ron paul wins but it's wishful thinking. Huckabee wants to make the bible the constitution. Gulliani would have been a disgusting resurrection of bush. Hillary has had wayyyyy too much negative press to have a chance.
The toilet brush was fucking mint.

The reason I was asking was I find it intriguing also to see either one actually come to fruition and how much of a factor sex/race may be this time.
I believe there are voters that will decide on those factors because like you say it has never be done for and that is almost a draw in it's own right.
samtwist 4 years ago
I'm sure you're right, Sam. Those reasons are only slightly better than choosing somebody because you like their look.
----
BTW, you ever gonna tell us the story of how you got your channel back?
Gimmeaflakeman 4 years ago
Even more interesting is their rise to candidates in the first place. Can Hilary's success be attributed to her appeal to a female vote, or is it majorly due to her history in politics and in the case of Obama what has contributed to his rise, when considering the possibility of a black candidate say 10 years ago, can it be put down to a decision prompted by a change in political climate or have his promises of drastic reform really made the difference.
samtwist 4 years ago
I'd like to believe the latter spurred it all the way but I really can't tell. But I find it all fascinating

Will it feel a bit like it was all for nothing if Obama becomes Hillary's running mate or vice-versa?

I like the man who:
Never voted to raise taxes
Never voted for an unbalanced budget
Never voted to increase the power of the executive branch
Never voted to regulate the internet
The man who repeatedly calls for an end to the Iraq war., and has been consistently against it from the beginning.
The 10 term congressmen Dr.Ron Paul gets my vote.

So im stead fast voting for Ron Paul.

amnesia: Romney is a Mormom, which means he thinks Israel's lost tribe made its way to America in the pre-Columbian era and became "white Indians." Keep in mind that they're still Jewish white Indians, whatever that means.

Gimmeabreakman, I suggest you look into free market theory before voting for a Democrat. Of course, before voting for a Republican, you might want to look into fascism. Both Parties are now statists and the American tradition that that led us to be the world economic leader is surely dead. If enough people pick up a book every now and then, maybe, just maybe, we can get back to the course John Adams and T.J. set us on.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
DCUPtoejuice...ok..who is left?
Gimmeabreakman 4 years ago
you got me, nobody is left. I think the only way is to start building coalitions that refuse to vote for statists. Either the party's will shift to accommodate those voters or eventually we could have enough to get our own candidate in. It sucks. Right now I'm planning to write in Ron Paul in the general election.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
your comment about too much money in the campaigns is retarded. American's spend $12 billion in the two weeks leading up to Easter on Candy. If Americans actually gave a shit, more money would be in politics. Money isn't the problem. At least the candidates are trying to penetrate politics into the dead brains of Americans watching American Idol.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
DCUPtoejuice, Interesting point about spending money. That's a good point, but I still think there should be some kind of cap. You can control that kind of stupidity.
Gimmeabreakman 4 years ago
I appreciate your intent. But please consider that this is nothing more than restricting free speech. People who want to get a message out should put their time and money behind it and just because someone has more money to tell others what he/she thinks they should think doesn't mean we have the right to restrict their activities. Transparency and an informed public is the only answer that is acceptable unless you want to take a big dump on the first amendment like John McCain and Russ.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
I think the politicians should work for the people, not their contributers. I think its sick that money is the guiding factor for who stays in the race.
sleestack 4 years ago
but you have to realize that people casts votes, that is who decides. As long as their is transparency in who is giving people money and how it is spent, the people can decide how to factor that into their decision. If you start infringing on people's rights to free speech and to spend their money as they see fit, you end up without the rights our government is intended to protect. The internet is a huge equalizer right now on the financial front.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
lobbyists, campaign contributions? How is this an fair? Its natural that people will do favors for their benefactors. Its wrong in this case, but its expected. The politicians are to represent all people, not just the ones with the deep pockets. I think the system is woefully flawed in this regard.
sleestack 4 years ago
here we go again. transparency is the key. the people vote for those they want. if someone takes money from lobbyists you don't like, don't vote for them. the people have the power, because the people have the vote, but unfortunately Americans have become uninterested in their country and are lazy. In the early years of our Republic turnout was 80%, now it is less than 40%. Blame the people, we get what we deserve.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
Yeah, but money kinda of controls who you get to vote for , no?
sleestack 4 years ago
no YOU decide who you vote for, money just influences who others will vote for. In the end, the people are free to vote for who they want.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
Oh, ok, vote in the literal sense? Or the ones that are on the cover of time magazine and are the only ones with a chance in hell because they have millions of dollars backing them which HAS to affect policy.
sleestack 4 years ago
true, but the amount of money in politics is not large. Ron Paul proved this, with only 10% support and little chance of winning, he raised 30 Million and was competitive. People should donate more.
DCUPtoejuice 4 years ago
I love Ron Paul. Its ironic that you mention him as he is the only candidate that is running on doing less. So his supporters (his financial backers) want him to do nothing rather than something. Which is great. In this I'm not complaining. It's when Bush starts a war over oil because he has old debts to pay is when things get raunchy.
sleestack 4 years ago
If he toned it down a bit then I don't see why he wouldn't have had a chance. He is a very good candidate, but declaring that he wants to get rid of the CIA, FBI and department of education is not diplomatic enough.

It's going to be obama vs mccain or romney. It'd be nice if ron paul wins but it's wishful thinking. Huckabee wants to make the bible the constitution. Gulliani would have been a disgusting resurrection of bush. Hillary has had wayyyyy too much negative press to have a chance.
