NOT the original Four Brothers sax section. Al Cohn had replaced Herbie Steward, who was on the orignal "Four Brothers" recordings.

Title should say: WOODY HERMAN - Northwest Passage. This is the legendary Second Herd or "Four Brothers" band of 1947-1949. Probably the greatest talent of all Woody's Herds, but unfortunately a financial failure. He was forced to disband in '49.

Don Lamond on drums. I think that's John LaPorta, the sax player that doesn't solo. This band was filled with heavyweights.

@DrumTchr It's Sam Marowitz on alto - one of the top lead altos in NYC for many years thereafter.

It looks to me like the two tenors soloing after Stan Getz are Al Cohn and Zoot Simms!
