My guess I that they mean to show us the MAP kinase (MAPK) cascade as they specify that the signal is relayed through phosphate. If so, it's simplified to the incorrect. MAPK does not simply suffle a phosphate between proteins! the phosporylation activates the kinases, whom in turn phosphorylate target proteins (among those more kinases resulting in a cascade) using ATP as energy and phosphate resource. Or in aqwamans words "it talks about amplification but doesn't show it".
