It is not proper to compare Rafi with Kishore just as not to compare apple with orange. Both are great names in their ways. Honestly Kishore's voice uplifts my spirits, Rafi's voice leave the opposite impact on me. But again both are equally great in their own ways i will not exchange one for the other. I would listen to both of them depending upon the mood.

I think both Rafi and Kishore were unique. You can not compare one with the another. Rafi's voice suited to some and Kishore's voice suited to others. For example, Rafi's voice was excellant for Shaami Kapoor. On the other hand Kishore Kumar's voice was best suited for Amitabh Bachchan, Rajesh Khanna, Dev Anand etc.

not true. sdb liked rafi just as much. he called rafi his first serve, kishore his second serve in interview early 70s. doesn't mean he liked kishore less, means he was willing to go for aces with rafi (like song above) whereas with kishore he wanted to be more sure and use lighter compositions. sdb used kishore for ~120 songs, rafi for ~96. so to me that is pretty even. consider that in 70s rdb was indeed calling the shots - i think sdb used them equally albeit very differently as you see here
