Your fingerings are interesting for this piece.They don't look like the standard Bb or F combination fingerings.

I am playing this same piece for the Erie Jr. Philharmonic Concerto Competition.

Happy to share them, but I do switch around from time to time. The subsequent 2 videos are better resolution so you can pick them out better.

It's almost all on the Bb side except for the occassional G in the staff and the G trills where I use 1,2.

Is there a reason you play mostly on the Bb horn as opposed to playing a combination? I have always found that my intonation and range is better when I use a combination.

Indeed there is. Clarity. Few people outside Vienna can play a rapidly on the F side without an attack that has a complex variety of sounds. When played quickly, all you hear is the complex attack, and the note itself becomes indistinct. Record yourself playing a simple scale quickly - first all on one side, then the other.

A teacher of mine used to raise his eyebrows everytime I used the F side, even in slow passages! Play with a tuning meter and experiment with different fingerings.

Cheers, though David Pyatt is a much better player than I ever was. Well - he's a better player than a boatload of good horn players IMHO. And he probably had much better recording kit than I do, but with the horn, mike placement is everything. You have to get a reflected sound rather than a direct one. My old teacher used to bemoan the fact that his signature Mozart recording was done with the mike too close to his bell which makes the sound much too dry.
