Silent Earth 3 is what got me into Coheed. I listened to SSTB but I didn't like it at first. Seemed very emo for my tastes. Then Volume 1 came out and I loved it. After seeing them in concert for the first time a few months ago and seeing them play SSTB from start to finish, I went back to listened to it and it's definitely grown on me. Fucking love this album now. Maybe the awesome concert experience I had to this album had an effect on how I felt about it.
@RelaxBrodysseus The style it's sung and the instruments are played and all that good stuff. Mostly on the album version, it has a bit of an emo feel to it. I remember when Volume 1 came out, there was a spot on Fuse talking about Coheed. They called Coheed emo. I was like what in the flying fuck are they talking about?! But then I heard SSTB, and I can see why they said that.
Wow they just f*ckin' hardcore blew my mind with this performance, I love Time Consumer it's one of the first songs I heard by this band and I think it's beast. And Mic looked like he had a hell of a time.

@recon139 Not to be an ass or anything, but they have been kind of drifting from their original style and things. The newest album, while still great by any standards, was much more simpler than any of the previous ones and it just doesn't have the creative edge and kick of the ones in the past. 2nd album is my favourite, the first is too raw, while the 3rd and after are too produced, or not raw enough. IKSOSE3 had the perfect balance, in my opinion.
@ByTor190 ya i think since they will have a new bassist in the studio along with chris pennie they will go back to more complex stuff. I think this last album was in a rush to get it out because of how long the delay was.

Just saw them do the Neverender encore show in Brooklyn a few days ago. I've been to many concerts and spent lots of money to go do said concerts. I must say that this FREE show that they gave us was probably better than all the other concerts where I paid $60+ a ticket. And I absolutely love how that even though Claudio cant sing as high as he could when they first started, they made their old songs tuned a half step down so they can continue playing these old songs. Fucking great band and show

Just to let u all know when u think he is using autotune on his voice he is using an echo effect many singers use it so quit bitching not everyone is like lil wayne or t-pain and has half their carrer based off it

It's not auto-tuned, he is just younger and it's the first song of the night so his voice is well rested. If auto tune were on it'd be for everything and you wouldn't hear the times when he makes notes raspy or harmonises instead of hitting the correct note.
This is tremendous. That being said, they have been awesome on their current tour. I am serious, check out some recent videos if you get a chance from them. Best Claudio has been vocally and everyone in the band are growing as musicians.
@Shabutie24 - Couldn't agree with you more. Saw them last night in Baltimore. It was hands down the best live music show I've ever seen. I too was impressed with how much Claudio has grown as a vocalist. He seems to have a lot more control over that incredible voice of his.
@jitk1 That's a really good point and I do agree to an extent. I wonder with Josh being back if it means they're going to loosen back up a little in terms of not being so technical. I think that was Chris' major contribution, the rest of the band became better musicians with him there, BUT I agree with you in that their early stuff is more "fun" to listen to and I think that it's because of the chaos and instability, like you're saying.
just saw coheed and cambria for the first time at The Midland theater in kansas city, awesome show. they opened the night with this song, blew me away. the only song i knew of them was A favor house Atlantic.

This has always been my favorite version of Time Consumer, it really feels like they're all 100% into it. And the way the lyric 'we all have a fla-a-aw' is delivered: gold. He never sings a song the same way twice. Insane.

just saw coheed and cambria for the first time at The Midland theater in kansas city, awesome show. they opened the night with this song, blew me away. the only song i knew of them was A favor house Atlantic.

This has always been my favorite version of Time Consumer, it really feels like they're all 100% into it. And the way the lyric 'we all have a fla-a-aw' is delivered: gold. He never sings a song the same way twice. Insane.

@Nov653944 Contrary to what some people think- there was no auto-tune used on this performance (if they would have, they would have autotuned Mic Todd in In Keeping Secrets haha- a little off but still amazing) It does sound a little funny because of vocal processing, but all of the pitches are the exact way he sang them.

@btowel They are similar to Rush in the sense that they are progressive, concept-based and have a high pitched vocalist. The actual style of music and tone of vocalist is completely different though.
I do like both bands a ton.
