The audio out does not make sense. The port on the dock is USB that means they would have to add a lot more circuitry including USB interface and DAC. They would also have to add a lot more code in the phone to handle audio data transfer over the USB port. seems pointless when there is a jack on the phone.

I completely agree that the subtraction of an audio out (3.5mm jack) is disappointing but is it possible to use the 3.5mm jack on the phone while it is in the dock?
