  • Thats cool!

  • thanks for the help. it helped me hookup my throttle for the new engine on my mini bike

  • @ianmccoy1999

Glad it helped. Thanks for watching.

  • Hey im just about done with mine. im having issues finding the little pieces on the throttle the nut and bolt that the end of the throttle cable. whats it called so i can go to walmart/homedepot/lowes/autozone and buy one they think im crazy trying to explain what it looks like

  • @N8RUDDY

It's called a throttle cable barrel, but you won't find it at any of those stores. You may find it at a mower repair shop or dealer. I used the one from the original engine. Try looking online if you can't find it locally. Good luck and thanks for watching.

  • So do preadtor engins from harbor fright fit with no problems

  • @allezsport2010

I'm not sure about the predator motor's fit but it does looks about the same.

  • how much would u sell it for

  • @adog380

    $550

  • @paisteboy the whole bike or just the motor???

  • @ShelbyGT500TT

What do you mean "the whole bike or just the motor"?

  • @paisteboy the motor

  • @ShelbyGT500TT

    The whole bike for 550

  • Paisteboy can you give me your email so I can direct email you some questions on the motor change. I did mine but I have a few questions. Thanks. hbronco96@comcast.net

  • @hbronco96

just send it as a Personal Message on Youtube..

  • @paisteboy where do i buy a 6.5 hp motor for mine

  • @sk3l3tonlng

Harbor Frieght. Not 6.5 anymore. It's black and goes by cc's not. I think it's called a predator motor.

  • @paisteboy 212cc, I believe.

  • How do you take the spark plug out of the doodlebug 2011 model

  • @1MarcusCornelius

    never seen one before.

  • just finished my project, this minibike hauls azz, I weigh 280 and it has all the torque in the world, Harbor freight does not sell the motor anymore

  • @ryansdad1000

    Cool. Post a vid.

  • just finished my project, this minibike hauls azz, I weigh 280 and it has all the torque in the world

  • Thanks for the videos though, very imformative....I just picked up a doodlebug yesterday and im goin to harbor freight now to get the engine....i did this to one of my mini bikes years ago and it worked great whatching your videos gives me a good refresher.....did you ever think about putting on a torque converter or a 2 speed jack shaft? I may do this at a later date.....

  • @wsvitak

The 6.5 HP motor has so much torque and speed that there is no need for a torque converter or a 2 speed jack shaft. If it was a 4hp motor then it may be something to think about. This minibike with the 6.5 HP motor is pretty dangerous with the stock wheels and stuff. I really don't trust to ride it really hard. This frame was not designed to be ridden very hard or fast and I don't trust chinese made stuff too much.

  • Were did you get the doodle bug if you could give me a web site thanks I am really wanting to do this but not with the newest models

  • @1950dodgefan

I got mine at Pep Boys in 2008. Don't know where to get them on line.

  • ok do no where i can get a cheep motor at.........

  • @crunchymuskrats

Not a new motor for less than that. Maybe a used motor on craig's list might be cheaper.

  • is the 97cc motor for sell?

  • @crunchymuskrats

No. Sorry, the 97 cc motor is not for sale.

  • your video is a good thing but that is for old style baja mini's My wife bought 1 for me for xmas and if your mini has the plastic fenders, its not going to work , not enough room for the motor and not enough clearance for air cleaner and gas tank, now I have a complete custom( nightmare) ahead of me

  • @ryansdad1000

I am not familiar with the new style doodle bugs other than seeing it online. This video only pertains to the original style doodle bug minibikes. Good luck with your build and thanks for watching.

  • just take all that throttle/air intake, muffler, gas tank shit off.. its all crap. get a throttle adapter plate in place of the tank, take the flywheel off and open the crank case to get the gov out, a carb adapt. for a high flow filter, and a straight pipe header.

  • @thtsjon4u

That's ivolves more parts which means more money and only necessary if you are looking to get even more performance out of the motor. Thanks for watching.

  • @paisteboy well then.. maybe when you get bored and have more money later, and a need for a little more speed.

  • @thtsjon4u

Yeah. That would be another fun project.

  • wow everybody just stop hating on this dude! he is bad ass! I bet half of y'all can't even do anything like this y'all are all mad cause y'all can't do that stuff!

  • @bubbawinchester

Thanks for the support and for watching.

  • @paisteboy No problem!

  • ur a fat as dick....that need to go and get a job and alife stop living at ur mothers house fat ass.

  • @samtheman1234561

First of all, this is my house I have a great job a wife and three kids of which 2 are older than you. Second, You subscribed to me a few weeks ago. Whatever..........

  • hay i want to get an exhaust pipe for my db30 what kind should i get? were should i get it?

  • @boombob10

The only one that I know of is at hot rod minibike dotcom.

  • hey big boy

  • On the last part the cabel goes through, how is that supported on the bottom?

  • @xxPOLARISx

With a short bolt and a nut. The bolt is about a half inch long. 1/4-20 thread with 7/16" head.

  • I got the same motor from harborfreight for 90$

  • @bubbawinchester

Cool. Did you buy that motor this year or last year?

  • @paisteboy I think that it was like on the ending of 2010 or it was like a month after the new year started. I forgot.

  • @bubbawinchester

I got mine for 90 bucks March of 2010. I have a coupon for 95 bucks right now. That's the cheapest I've seen it since I bought mine last year. What are you putting it on?

  • @paisteboy it's going on s gokart

  • !!!bi-winning!!!

  • @tristan7614

    lol

  • I put the exact same motor on my go-kart and it goes pretty fast but I'm sellin it to get a minibike

  • @theawesome991

Cool! 2 wheels all the way.

  • of course he needs a new engine the old 1 just wouldnt go anywhere if you no what i mean thumbs up if u agree

  • oh my bad i unscrewed a screw that one of my neighboors did to his because he is a mechanic and he said that was a governer. sorry my mistake.

  • @hmshottytoddy22

No big deal. I got grilled on that topic when I first put out my video on that screw. The screw does goven the throttle but technically it's not the governor. Call it what you want, just unscrew it if you want to go faster. lol

  • that screw you unscrewed to go faster is called the governer. there is also one on the stock motor but i just went muddin and all that silver metal stuff fell off ahha

  • @hmshottytoddy22

The screw that I unscrewed is not the governor. The governor is an internal mechinism that limits the RPM of the motor to protect it. The screw is just a throttle limiting screw.

  • I have that exact same engine on mine!

  • i have the exact same motor but the way the gas tank was made makes it difficult to fit on my bike......did u have dat problem 2?

  • does the torq a verter work?

  • @97kobster

Yes, but it's kind of pricey.

  • where do you find the clucth harbor freight motor didnt have one

  • @84mike1

The clutch is not at Harbor Feight, only the motor is sold at Harbor Freight.

  • Where does the Black spring hook to the manual Throttle lever? Took mine off and don't remember which hole

  • @max24ist seriously dude, turn off your internet lol

  • @max24ist on the muffler

  • thanks for posting this man ima buy the same engine after i get the cash. i khow its kinda off video topic but the throttle adjustment screw. can i take it all the way out or leave oart of it in with the same speed?

  • @LiLaLiEn3883

You can remove it or unscrew it almost completely. Either way it will be the same. I just unscrew mine most of the way but leave it in.

  • I had a three day brain fart over this gear size lol...i got it now.,.i had it..but i got it ...lol

  • @fishnmaster420

    OK cool.

  • Thank you for doing these video's. It really helps someone who doesn't know how to do it or is unfamiliar with changing a engine and what's involved.

  • @marvinbl7

I made this video series just for that reason. I'm glad it helped. Send me the video of your minibike motor cahnge when you get it done.

  • whats your gear ratio for the minibike?

  • @natecanthink

Not sure of the gear ratio but the only change that I made was that the original clutch was an 11 tooth and the new clutch is a 12 tooth.

  • can you change the sprocket??? tooth size/count

  • @fishnmaster420

Yes, but you have to make sure you get parts that are compatable.

  • @paisteboy on the back sprocket,, do you go up teeth or down for more take off torgue?? or can i get a cluch that has more or less teeth on it??

  • @fishnmaster420

Back sprocket, bigger sprocket more torque but less speed and the opposite for the front sprocket. You can get 11, 12, and 13 toothe clutch bells and more teeth is a bigger sprocket on the clutch bell assuming they are all the same size chain like #35.

  • @paisteboy yeah ok i see what your saying...it works out kinda like my rc truck gearing...thanks again man!!!

  • @fishnmaster420 actually, if you get a smaller rear sprocket, you'll get more torque and faster take off, but slower top speed.... if you get a bigger rear sprocket, you'll start slower, but top speed will be faster. if you know how final drive gears or road bicycles work, you'd understand.

  • @marlo916 IDK man,,i been brain stormin on it lol,,,my buddy got into rocket bike stunting and he put a big ass sprocket on the back to knock out so much top end,, he say he can cercle wheelie alot better with the big torque sprocket.. and what you was sayin about the bicycle>>>i try it and i get more top speed when i changed it to the small one on the back..and torque at the big one on back..and its vise versa on the front sprocket..

  • @fishnmaster420 think of it like this; the more similar the two sprockets are in size/tooth count, then the more torque you'll have, which means it will take off faster and go up hills with lesser effort needed, but you'll have to have really high rpm to go fast.... on the other hand, if the two sprockets are very different in size/tooth count, then it will take more effort and power to take off and hills will b impossible, & your top speed will b a lot faster w/o needing such a high rpm.

  • @marlo916

I think you've got it backwards there marlo.

  • @paisteboy hmm... maybe bicycles are different, then.

  • @marlo916

No. they're the same. Look at it like this. If you have a large sproket in the front it is hard to pedal, right. Now, the smaller the rear sprocket is the harder it will be to pedal because you are getting more revolutions of the rear wheel every time the front sprocket goes around once. Theirfore, less torque but higher top end speed. Now as the sprocket in the back gets larger it gets easier to pedal and the small er in the front it getts easier to pedal.

  • @paisteboy

Minibikes have small have small sprokets in the front and large ones in the rear because the engine does not have enough power to turn over a large sprocket in the front, but it has the RPM's to make up for it to get speed once the engine and the minibike get going. If the minibike motor had enough power to turn the gear ratio that a bicycle has it would do 5 times the speed or more and probably be a 20 HP motor that would be impossable to control. I hope that helps.

  • @paisteboy thanks.

  • wow, you know what is so f***ing cool!! i have that exact engine on my broken gokart(engine works perfect). I broke my doodle bug engine, and i was rigging it to work with it. thanks for making this video with my type of engine. :)

  • I like the intro with the sound of the clothes dryer in the background that is for sure an original score. But to the point your video is actually quite informative and now I might actually convert my sons doodle but to a doodle beast. I'll race you when I am done, o....I mean he will race you ....(:

  • @RonnieMX

Thanks and good luck with the build. Send me a video of the beast when you get it done.

  • Needs an 18hp V-Twin :D

  • @slowride55

    Funny.

  • @paisteboy Then It'd go like 145 lol. Great job on it!

  • @slowride55

Right before you die! lol. There was a guy that put a 13 HP on his and he had to down size it. It was almost impossible to control with the 13 Horse motor. Thanks for watching.

  • @paisteboy yeah haha even 45 is ridiculous!

  • hey i will buy the old one off ya for $75

  • @wyatt766

Thanks, but it's not for sale.

  • Comment removed

  • oh wow you went from 97 to 197 :O FUCK YEAH! :D

  • did you use all the same cables? ie the throttle cable? also did you remove the governor off this engine? i have the same engine this i why im wondering

  • @pimpinpenz

I used all of the origianl cables and I didn't remove the governor but I'm thinking of doing it in the future.

  • northern tool has everything you need for this

  • dude my 5 horse briggs has more cc than your new motor and old motor combined. ha, doodle beast my ass

  • that a good qution

  • how easy is it to do this? were can i get engine and clutch?

  • i have mini bike motor but i try to fix it i try motor live

  • do u stil have ur old engine

  • @hardyboy177

    yes

  • i put this motor on here and its really fast and has way more torque

  • dam i was gonna do this to my mini bike for so long and i found out u need a new clutch i didnt do it but i couldnt find an y videos like this now i did its awsome

  • hey i was wanting to get a 6.5 hp engine and was wondering if you can use the clutch from the 97cc engine

  • @bumpn6

No you can't use the original clutch from the Baja Doodle Bug. The shaft on the Doodle Bug 97cc engine is smaller. I point that out in one of the other parts of this video series if you haven't got to it yet.

  • @bumpn6 i tryed it and no it doesnt work so had to go spend 50 bucks o a new one

  • hey i was wanting to get a 6.5 hp engine and was wondering if you can use the clutch from the 97cc engine

  • Comment removed

  • hey.. im thinking of getting one of these doodle mini bikes... This may seem like a weird question, but how much fuel does the 97cc engine use? How long till the tank is empty?

  • @legoman6000

It's really good on gas but it's kind of hard to tell since I never ride it for long periods of time.

  • @legoman6000 i have one of these with the 6,5 on it but it lasts really long and my friend has one to but it has the original motor the 97cc and it runs out kinda fast for some reason but i think its like 0.35 of a gallon

  • @joefilbeckelvislover alright thanks, il put that into considerationm cause i gotta buy my own fuel.

  • @legoman6000 me and my friend travis we both have doodle bugs and mine is good on gas but my friend travis's is but it runs out pretty fast so i have a 5 gallon metal jerry can and i fill it up and then i have a 2.5 gallon gas can and we fill that up and the 2.5 gallon keeps me and himm running for a week or more

  • @joefilbeckelvislover Odd, why would 1 take more gas then the other? O well, thanks for the input

  • @slammedtoy93

You can order them from Baja Motorsports website or check for go kart parts on line. You may be able to use a regular part from a bicycle brake lever and the make your out bracket. I made my own bracket. I show it in one the the other parts of the video series. Thanks for watching and commenting.

  • I have watched all of your awesome doodle beast conversion videos, but I'm very confused on what clutch I need to buy and where to get it. PLEASE HELP ME and thanks

  • @freedomismoneyusa

If you get the same engine as I did then take the manual to your local mower repair center and tell them what you are doing. They can either get the clutch for you or tell you where you can get it. The manual states the shaft size and that is what determines what size clutch you need. Bring the chain with you if you can too. They will need to know the chain size in order to get the clutch with the correct sprocket on it. I hope that helps.

    paisteboy

  • @paisteboy there are multiple 3/4" shaft with #35 chain clutches on ebay for around $40, but I don't know if they can be mounted backwards to keep the chain straight like you did on yours.

Again I really appreciate your videos and your help, but the clutch thing is a little discouraging : /

And BTW I'm using the 'greyhound' 6.5hp blue engine from harbor freight as well

  • @travi3so67

    Harbor Frieght

  • @paisteboy hey bro where should the air/fuel mixture screw be set on dbs-30g/?

I would really appreciate it your input and knowledge.

  • @lrhamitlon65

Thanks for watching. I didn't change any of the settings. I would refer to to manual since I am not a mechanic.
