LH actually offers a fairly decent product in Coach on their A330, A340 and A380 aircraft. It's only the aging B744s that are - admittedly - quite outdated in the cabin (and in general I dare say). I guess the new B748 which LH will received very soon will finally bring the Boeing cabin standards to the level of the LH Airbus fleet.

Well on airbus planes, you always get a PTV on LH. Plus the 747 is not the most updated plane ever. On the A340-600, you go to a special area dowstairs to the bathroom and there is a ton of legroom. That's why I really don't like economy on any 747. Plus, you should check out the business and first classes on that plane, very nice!

As a (very) frequent traveller on long-haul flights (10 hours +), I really don't understand the poster of this video. Lufthansa is one of my favourite airlines! Shame you got a soon-to-be-replaced 747...fly the new A380 and then compare to your great American airlines.

Continental, Delta or AA; particularly the former two have consistently disappointed me. No in-flight entertainment, no sense of customer service and the same damn CHICKEN or PASTA every single time, with a cookie as "dessert".

Lufthansa has generally been comfortable, but when it comes in a B747 fly, because the machines already in some cases for 25 years in operation, can the economy do not really expect much, but if you look at the buisness or first class , it is like a completely different opinion, because the really are worth the money! Also, I would not count so many advantages over Rumer Lufthansa because Lufthansa is truly one of the best airlines! :P

Ive flown Lufthanse 3 times and i dont mind flying with them again. Seat room is like every european company. and im just over 2 meters so thats tight for me but no diffrent from other company's. Also lufthansa dosent have as much other fee's as the rest of the airlines does. In flight entertainment is not standard in europe but a luxury. Lufthansa has an outstanding reputation, which is not always visible to the passengers. That's the reason for the main, why they can get away with things. Like with their peppy pricing, or their less than stellar hospitality on economy. I too got disappointed throughout the years with LH, and experimented with other airlines. On price they were all better, but in other respect, some were better, some worse.

They just need to spend a couple million Euros to modernize the interior of their 747-400's the way Korean Airlines and many others have. Modernization typically yields more space in the economy class because the seat configurations have less passengers.

I agree it's a coach flight, but every plane I've been on at least had overhead vents, and yes, even a UAL 747 from way back in "79,too. The in flight film(The Goodbye girl!) was shown on a pull down screen,and You still used those goofy "stethoscope" style headphones. Even flights in an old DC-9 and 737 back in '75 we had vents at least. I don't expect much from coach, but no overhead vents? There's no excuse for that at all.

I fully agree with this video because I and my wife recently travelled from frankfurt to chicago on Oct. 30, 2011 by Lufthansa in 747 and our experience was shocking. I had never seen a plane in past 10 without inflight entertainment video monitor and the air hostesses looked jaded and the service and food provided was hopeless.

The easiest way to avoid flying Lufthansa without PTV ist avoiding FRA. DUS and MUC have only A333 (really new) and A343/346 (relativly new) stationed which are all equiped with a PTV. That's what I did last time.

Some Air France 747 is the same problem but by the next fall it should be over because Air France is retrofiting its 747s with ptvs. Also Lufthansa was late on Air France because there was no ptvs in the economy class on board off the 747. But Air New Zeland, All Nippon Airways and Singapore Airlines are the Star alliance members like Lufthansa and their 747s is equipped with ptvs.

I can totally relate with this post. Flew LAX-FRA-OLB. LAX-FRA segment was HELL! PURE HELL. Everything in your video is correct. It was so terrible that I bought an extra ticket just to fly on another airline. Air Berlin is a great alternative.

However, I will probably be on one without IFE, I'm just gonna have to read a book or use your iPhone/iPad/MacBook Pro...

@CEOTerminator OK inseat entertainment is a flying frill. Lufthansa doesn't have to have tvs on the seats, if you wanted tv why didn't you check what aircraft you are gonna fly with, or see videos or images from the cabin.

@ogepma those B744 are some 15-20years old..isn t it better to get newer planes(although expensive) like the B747-8 that Lufthansa have ordered. Lufthansas hub Frankfurt is an awful place that time has runned out of.

There are cheaper carriers than LH yes...you are right about most people want to get from A to B..they are not airplane buffs or airport affecionados..the price though is important..Lh has some good deals now and then.

@ogepma Some people just want to NOT be bored for 12-13hrs... I am one of them. Oge : if you are a lufthansa fan fairplay to you. But I agree on this video. Their service (attendants) are often above average and visible. More than other airlines. But I need my freedom to choose movies or be able to sleep . Sry if you can easily sleep in an airline-seat. Not easy for many folks u know. And yes, their legroom is appauling! Hansa food is shit too. KLM and BA ftw.! Easy to upgrade, fair prices!

The 747s are refurbished with FlyNet, new Y with PTV, new F over the upcoming months. But this takes around 3-4 weeks per plane and you can only do this while they have their regular maintenance interval checks. I know its annoying, but you can partly blame Boeing for this, because they are late with the new 747-8i which are going to replace the old 747s.
