i always want to know how much does a sensei know.. i mean miyagi sensai, funakoshi .. etc.. and also asai were grand master and they have so much knowlegde ..and he taught u a lot and u inspire me to work harder ..... but do u think he taught u everything he know ? or doesn´t it matter ?
I was lucky to be a personal student of Asai Sensei, but of course he didn't teach me everything he knew. In saying that, many of the 8th Dan JKS branch chiefs here in Japan have invited me to teach seminars at their dojo, because of Asai Sensei's generosity to me.
@Goju1990 I think its impossible for a Sensei to teach EVERYTHING that he knows, not because of a lack of desire, but instead, I think a Sensei personalizes his karate program to what he thinks is important, and focuses on that. Or maybe, some do teach everything, but I doubt it. I don't know.
@njtr no i don´t ment this in this way.. my imagine was this: a sensei as asai train and learn his whole life..to become so good and this knowledge he need the time.. but how long he needs o give his knowlegde to a student.. and i he could give this faster as he learned it.. i think my karate would improve much more. as i have my knowledge and the knowledge of a sensei .. what great karate we could be. or what a new door would opened for us... but i think i´m just dreaming .. XD
@Goju1990 I think I understand what you are saying, and I agree. A Sensei, such as Asai spends his whole life training (more than us), and we all benefit, because he simplifies it into his system, and we follow him. He works harder than us, and simplifies it for us. Hopefully we can do the same for the next generation of karateka. There are certain karateka, such as Asai, who are just SPECIAL. We all know this, and we need to follow them. I think that this is what you are saying. Osu

Great to see all of this. Also nice to see the old Dojo before all the unpleasantness.
Such a pity that many people claiming to teach Asai-sensei's karate don't teach anything like it.
