  • nice cover man, probably one of my favorite songs by king crimson <:D

  • Awesome. But it's kind of sad that as soon as I try to practice this and actually learn the whole thing, I lose my only pick.

  • Fantastic cover, fair play. 5/5

    Thanks for watching, xdeanx1988! =D

  • Great job! Really! One of my favorite songs of all time.

  • Thanks, DC! =D

  • Well I like this guy. So well played and fair commenting to responses he has had. If you look the video he is so into it. That is inspiring. Good music, very well played with an attitude that goes with the music. And that's cool.

    Thank you motorpsych0!

  • Very, very nice. Kudos. Great tone. I like it, in not so many words.

  • ah sorry maybe you meant the middle section by the cello...yes it is slow :D

  • that's not a solo,it is an opening/closing theme, actually a scale.

  • Yes, great! Really, an easy and simple song, which proves that the beauty and heaviness of this song lies in Fripp's musical taste, and not in technique.

And, as Fripp uses to say, "Playing slow is more difficult than playing fast".

  • Yes, probably the worlds slowest guitar solo! Good thing...I'm a slow player!

    Thanks for watching, gvidal!

  • Thanx for posting...I learned it from you and have performed it at gigs.

  • That's very cool, doc2earth!

Post a video of your performance someday!

  • Fantastic! I LOVE this song. Gives me the chills every freaking time!

  • Thanks, berg!

  • No, thank you!

    Especially for your lesson :)

  • That was awesome. Just hit the Favorite button :-)

  • Thanks, dennis and vicki!

  • Excellent! Fripp! the master!

  • Thanks, kanebod!

  • Do a cover of schizoid man!

  • Great idea! Might not be able to get the tone right on that awesome song.

  • Amazing cover!!

RED is one of my favorite albums from the 70's. . .apart from Maggot Brain (Funkadelic) and Raw Power (Stooges). . .I like that era--never lived in it but I have the music to live it by. . .

Do "Starless" or "One More Red Nightmare" next dude!

  • Thanks, Rol! I dig this era a LOT!

    And, thanks for the suggestions!

  • Woooow I completely agree with Rol, big ups to you for this awesome cover! I'd aswell would like you play some more King Crimson covers ( The Hendrix ones are bloody awesome aswell btw ), Starless would definitely be my pick!

  • Fripp is the man! What an homage!

  • Yeah, it's great to hear comments from people that "get it"!

  • My thing is to do covers of the original, and set my volume slightly louder than the track. It's great fun!

It's how I pay tribute to my favorite bands.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for watching, kaioxygen! =)

  • riiight on man. great song

  • Thanks, sth!

    RED ROCKS!

  • Madre mía, es una versión fantástica.

  • excellent red, perfect attention to detail - btw ever been told u look kinda like zappa?

  • KC Rules!

  • muy bueno! TE FELICITO

  • Great job.

I like your tone, dead on. What amps/effects are you using?

  • No pedals used here. Just my MesaBoogie DC-5 amp's lead channel. Sweet.

  • Awesome cover of an awesome song. And your tone pretty much matches Fripp's perfectly. Great job, man.

  • Thanks, BA!

  • very, very good motorpsych0!

king crimson is my favorite band.

  • Thanks, uvit!

    KC Rules!

  • Really really good! Keep it like that !

  • Thanks, KrroPF!

  • Cool man! Such a good work! A classic Crimson!

Have you played Larks' tongues in aspic?

  • No, not yet on Larks!

    Thanks, elker!

  • nice work!

  • I appreciate it, schizoidkit!!!!

    KC RULES! =D

  • gracias

    shaltumay

    thanks

  • Thank you, victor!

  • Great cover, best KC cover I've ever seen on Youtube. Congratulations.

  • Thanks, LoneFloyd!

  • It's a cello, according to Wikipedia.

Hi, people who understand music, could you explain to me how this song is in a whole tone scale? Does it simply have many accidentals?

  • Tangent, I wish I could explain Fripp, but I can't!

I just play 'em as I hear 'em! =)

    Thanks for watching!

  • It's a chromatic scale.

Basically, you can play anything you want.

  • That makes sense. Thank you. :)

  • Some stupid question : was it in the middle part of RED (original tape) one fretless guitar line? Sounds like cello... What do You think? Because I play fretless guitar too and it is the same sound on fretless Telecaster.

  • I don't recall a hearing a fretless guitar in Red. Fripp probably had many effects that could have sounded like a fretless guitar.

  • Yikes! Sorry for the late response. I go by ifightaliens. My brothers nick on here is edibleclam and sometimes I forget that he's logged in.

  • No sweat, I'll take a compliment from anyone!

    Peace~

  • Good Job...

  • Thanks, galarius!

  • you rock!

  • Thanks, GIGANTORRRRRR!

  • me encanto tu interpretacion del tema es un muy buen disco lo escucho amenudo saludos

  • Thank you! Very cool. I actually liked this so much. Hit the speakers almost at max.

  • PLAY IT LOUD! =D

    Thanks, Pahvihotelli!

  • haha I would've thought you'd be a perfectionist. well this video definitely shows you're a perfectionist with a guitar in your hand :P

  • argh typos*

  • No problem on the typos! =D

    Thanks for the comment, jacobkay!

  • very impressive. best king crimson intrument cover i've seen.

  • No problem on the typos! =D

    Thanks for the comment, jacobkay!

  • Really great! I love this album

  • Thank you, wolfstan64!! =D

  • Nice version. Excellent guitar-work. King Crimson is and was the greatest band of all time, popularity and the Sham Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame be damned.

  • Yeah, KC was incredible!

    Thanks for watching, Chris. =D

  • sweet walls

  • oops sorry I put I instead of you....anyway this is the only vid of Red that shows accurate fingering from what I can see. Ive been looking for one of Fripp playing it and see if I see any differences but no look unfortunately...

  • I knew what you meant to say. =)

I could not find a video either, so I had to pick out the notes myself. Such a great song!

  • I kinda do look like Frank...I thought as well...

  • OK, NonStopJulioA! =)

  • Really cool. I'd like to go to one of your concerts. Let me know. Thanks dude.

  • Hey man, I certainly send you my tour dates!

    (I wish!)

    Thanks, bluu999! =D

  • Comment removed

  • Yeah, I get that comparison a lot! =)

  • awesome cover man!!, u should some of the original crimson material like 21st century schizoid man or the court of the crimson king. that would be awesome!!!

  • Great suggestions!

    Thanks, nsalochin! =D

  • admirable effort pal! is that a rickenbacker bass by the amp?

  • Yeah, that's my pride and joy RIC 4001!

    Thanks for watching, man!

  • Yeah King Crimson had some of the best Drum/Bass/Guitar work I have ever heard. I like how they created such diverse music as a group ranging from Classical to Jam to Prog to Heavy Metal. To bad their not as active anymore, I'd go see them one more time!

  • Your licks are quite good, I like what you've accomplished here! Good job!

  • Thanks for watching, GG!

    KC RULES!

  • Oh man, I hadn't imagined you played bass AND guitar that well. This is excellent once again. Do you know Gentle Giant ? If yes, would you consider covering some of their songs ? If no, check them out, they are imo one of the finest prog bands of the 70's !

  • I am very familiar with Gentle Giant, but I don't own any of their CD's. XM Radio 41 plays them very often.

    Very cool band.

  • If you can play this song from King Crimson, then you can play any of their songs. I find this song to be a bit difficult and rather challenging apart from the rest of the songs they have!

  • Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mzler1387!

So much KC...so little time! =D

  • has anyone told you that you have the profile of frank zappa

  • Yeah! A couple of dozen times. =)

I love FZ, so I subconsciously want to be him!!!!

  • very cool. i love seeing people cover king crimson material, it's great stuff. this is a good song, but definitely not the best on the album, imo.

i've always loved one more red nightmare and fallen angel. any chance of a cover of one of those?

if you ever get bored enough it would be cool to see a cover of dinosaur or people from the thrak album too!

  • Yeah, there are a lot of GREAT songs on RED...I just picked my favorite one. =D

I will give "Dinosaur" a listen. Thanks!

  • The "Red" band was the best version of King Crimson and the "Red" LP was the best album from that incarnation. (In my humble opinion, of course).

Nice work - I dig the feedback at the end.

  • Yeah, me too. Anything with Adrian Belew, too!

    I love feedback, man!!!!

  • Sounds like you have a real short delay though the whole song?

  • I didn't use a delay when I made this video. It's probably the ambient effect of the microphones in the room. (?)

    Thanks for watching, SixxstringV!

  • On second thought, I did indeed use a BOSS DD5 here. It's a quickly deteriorating delay setting.

I forgot until I watched it all the way through. =P

  • Very good.I see that i might be playing the main chords wrong..Oh well close enough.

  • I'm probably playing it wrong too, man!

I just play it as I hear it! =D

  • Hahah, when I first saw you with the guitar, my first thought was "Oh my god! It's Zappa!" ;)

Very nice cover, I love this tune :)

  • Thanks, MA!

I get the FZ comparison a lot! =D

  • Speaking of Frank, you can hear Mike Keneally's execution of this on his website. Your chords seem to be voiced the same as Mike does it...food-for-thought: Wetton's Bass contributes substantially to the studio version.

Let's see your chording for Starless. I do the violin/Mellotron voicings in the upper registers.

+100 on a dandy flick with you performing Fallen Angel.

    Thanks for sharing,

    NG
