Not in practical use in 3rd world country, because it is not cheep, in India a 5KVA electric generator and Diesel engine both come in 25000 INR($600). No one in india invest more than this because only for clean and green. We don't know what is clean and green we only know what is cheep and reliable.
Anyone ever heard of Gasification Technology....It turns dirty coal, garbage, any fuel source into clean burning natural gas, obviously at a cost...Im a Canadian and know that Toronto ships there garbage to Michigan at a verry high cost.....Im no expert but the cost of turning these mountains of fuel(garbage) into natural gas cannot exceed the cost of shipping and tipping fees there paying now.
I'll bet the oil and gas companies have all kinds of shills online trying to debunk this! This guy is very smart. We need to have more NASA scientists bring us suppressed NASA technology.
This system does not provide completely clean energy as it tries to make out, but it does double fuel efficiency, halve fuel cost and doe sseem to work, if it were affordable right now or I could find stocks to invest in, I would definitely do it. This company really is the energy company of the future.
@saxenalibra6 I am a Dravidian not Indian, fuck ur bet and screw ur self, we love our country and developed it , u hindu bastrads from central asia fucked up my country.....
If this becomes the standard in everyday homes then the price of fossil fuels will drastically increase. He expects it to cost $3,000 but that price is almost too cheap. Like the guy on 60 minutes said, it will be available but it will say GE.
This guy is repeatedly misleading (here and in the 60 minutes interview). Here he says you don't need a fuel infrastructure. Baloney: it's just a fuel cell running on natural gas. He should have said you don't need a _new_ fuel infrastructure. Fuel cells were invented in the 1830's. What's new is that he may have found a cheap way to make them (without the platinum that's usually required). But his box still uses fossil fuels and it still outputs CO2.
No - completely wrong. It has the OPTION to use natural gas. Using Biogas it is carbon neutral. Do some research before you make your stupid comments.
I'm aware that the Bloom box can use biogas. But the vast majority of customers will use natural gas (as all their current customers except eBay are doing right now). Most biogas comes from landfills and there is not nearly enough biogas (by orders of magnitude) to power most homes and businesses (which is Bloom's stated goal).
So, you are completely wrong, but far be it for me to call you stupid.
very true. Its truly an amazing piece of technology... The fuel companies aren't going to like it but thats their problem... I also heard from a friend that the creator of the bloom box wants the cost to be only slightly more than the cost, a house owner would pay for a brand new generator/heater
don't get swept away by promises of "no emissions" and clean energy, it doesn't exist fundamental laws of chemistry and physics..infrastructural change is what makes a difference..
Not true about the "no emissions" thing. It still produces CO2 when using natural gas and other carbon based fuel sources. They say "no emissions" only in certain circumstances: ie when the fuel source is from an algae produced source... And technically, they can't say "no emissions" because there are emissions in that situation... but the emissions are "carbon neutral" since they originally were converted into the gas by algae and are therefore just being re-released.
Oil is also derived from organic plant life; so why do they complain about its use when it too simply put CO2 back where it came from? I guess it's all in who's doing the con-job! :-))
True, but oil is formed from decay and pressure over time... Think of all the burning oil as releasing multiple units of time (minutes, months, years, decades, etc) worth of CO2 all within a short period of time.. It took a long time to develop... but only a very short time to burn through it all and release TONS of CO2...
thats MUCH more CO2 being released than what is released in a fuel cell... especially if we are talking about using carbon neutral sources that WERE JUST NOW produced by algae... The sun provides the energy the algae needs to convert the CO2 into a natural gas (methane?) and then it is converted back by the fuel cell and O2 and the suns stored energy in the bonds of the organic gas is released and harvested as electricity... Very efficient compared to combustion reactions.
You know what they say; "if it sounds too good to be true"! You need a bit more healthy skepticism; not to mention a great deal more technical knowledge of such systems. Did you notice that they were NOT powering their own manufacturing plant with them!
Yes BUT... Like the invention of the segway... The producers and sponsors of this machine thought that 1 out o 5 people that could afford a segway would get one... The error was that it wasn't very useful and it was sold for more than $1,000 for the cheapest one... With the bloom box, there may be some sort of error or setback on the design... As much as a would love a polution/ grid free environment, Im still partially skeptical
It already works in Google for 18 month. Also eBay, FedEx and Staples. $700k now, projected $3k per server. Cost 9c/kWh. So you got your money back in 25 days.
I love it! My only reservation is that it requires natural gas to run and we probably don't have the infrastructure to support everyone having these in there home for primary electrical generation.

Are you a jerk, a troll or on drugs?
How do you know they ARE NOT powering their own manufacturing plant with them?
Did you work there?
Did he say he was not powering his manufacturing plant with them?
Where is your PROOF that they are not powering their manufacturing plant with them?
Yes you should have some "healthy skepticism", especially when reading other peoples OPINIONS (not FACTS) about things.

@Supersemian;
Just because you are so uninformed of current technical events does not mean everyone else is.
You seem to be the one with the drug problem and quite likely are a jerk-off- troll.

better natural gas than petroleum.
If the demand is high enough, we will create the infrastructure needed.

Natural gas isn't the only fuel it can use. Lots of gaseous or liquid hydrocarbons, as well as hydrogen, will work.
