Why are these voting machines companies so hostile to making machines that leave a verifiable paper trail? I think these machines would be a great solution if they simply printed out a card tallying the votes, the voter verified and signed the card and returned it to a clerk who put it in a ballot box to be scanned by a machine later. Are there any justifiable, non-corrupt motives for creating machines that leave no paper trail?

Read the technical bulletin prepared by Princeton University regarding the vulnerability of the Diebold system. When Diebold has checks its cashed, it will downplay any system flaws.
