Aunty, my husband works late and I want to send pakora with him to work. You said that they're best when hot, but what happens when they've been sitting in a refrigerator for a few hours? Are they soggy?
Im just learning to cook my own food since living in the USA for 5 years I had to make my own indian food and ur videos are so helpful and yummy, Im cooking great now! Your family are so lucky to have you cook for them!
namaste Auntyji..thanx for all the recipes and for addressing our cravings for indian recipes..we owe you a lot. i tried this recipe but found that even though the outer colour of pakora is golden brown or even brown, when i break the pakora it is still raw and wet inside the pakora with besan.. can you please let me know what am i doing wrong..thank you and blessings to your family..
Manjulaben your recipe is great and always informative,I love to cook and get so many ideas watching your videos please keep the good job going, thank you
one request do not add back ground music,we like to hear your voice rather than music
I enjoyed your recipe of veg pakoras. I am just learning to cook and it helps to see the video while learning. Can you please also let us know how to make the green chutney that you served along with the pakoras?
I find it interesting what flower you use. Is that the traditional flower to use? My dad makes it with chickpea flower as the main ingredient.
It looks really really good by the way! My mouth is watering allready. I am going to try your way in a couple of days, i just have to find some of the ingredients. ;)
@ilyt1203 if u had already fried it first and wish to reheat, make sure not to over fry it. just light one so that flour will stick and the other time u reheat it it wont turn black. but, i think the taste will be different
Manjula, you are a life saver and an inspiration. I've always wanted to get my kids to appreciate Indian food. My Mom was an amazing cook but died too early and I didn't get a chance to learn much from her. Your demos and methods are easier to follow than all my cook books. Thanks so very much.
Manjula Ben, I noticed you did not use any baking powder or soda. I guess the rice flour makes it crispy. I think it is good not to use baking soda. Good recipe. Thanks. We can also use raw bananas sliced thin sideways. It tastes yummy.
Manjula! I SO impressed my mother in law with your pakoras! My son ate so many he could not dine out with friends! I am so excited that I have been able to cook these delicious recipes that you have so kindly provided! THANK YOU!
They look so tasty. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. I will try that today evening. I am only not so sure about using the coarsely grinded coriander seeds.
I've been meaning to ask you, what type of vegetable oil do you prefer to use (canola? corn?....). Also, would you re-use the oil after frying, or do you throw it out when you're finished?
@basilweir : Though its been too late that I saw your comment still I thought I'll share what I do with the leftover oil. I use it to make paratha or dal, even vegetables sometimes. Using this oil in smaller quantities does not harm alot. To avoid having a lot of leftover oil I use a small utensil as well as smaller amount of oil as required. I hope this helps.
wow they look great!...miss my mom's cooking after seeing them...well thanks to you I can make them myself and give mummy a big surprise! thanks for posting the video
Thank you for your video. You seem like a great cook. I am excited to try your pakora recipe. I am not that familiar with Indian food but I love what I have tried so far. You seem like a lovely lady I wish we were next door neighbors.
If I do not have coarsely grinded Coriander Powder, what should I do? Can I replace that with something else? Or Can I ignore it? Can I add Dhaniya powder (Finely grinded)?
Hello Manjula! I am so very excited to try these recipes. Please wish this poor anglo boy luck! I love indian food Pakora probably most. What is the name of th sauce you serve with it please and is there a recipe here for it? Is it a green chili sauce? It is a very thoughtful thing you do posting these cooking lessons. Thank you very much.
Hello Manjulaji! Thanks for all the wonderful recipesss! I have a question, you added rice flour to your gram flour mixture for your pakora recipe. Is this your own taste or is this usually how pakora recipe is? Thanks again!
It was a great idea to put the ingredients but if I may make a suggestin it might be better to put them at the list at the begging of the video so it will be easier to read or put somekind of background on the letters. Great recipe!!!
Don't confuse Gram flour with Graham flour. It is not a typo. The correct spelling in English is Gram. "Gram flour is a flour made from ground chickpeas. It is also known as chana flour (Indian), besan (Indian), kadale hittu (Kannada), chickpea flour and garbanzo flour (Spanish)."
I have tried to make pakora from another recipe and they did not turn out well at all. Your recipe looks much better I will be sure to try it. I hope I can find a recipe for onion bhaji
Wow, those look incredible! I can imagine how good they smell! It's 9:33 pm, haven't had dinner, and all that's in my fridge is a lousy sandwich. The agony! I'll definitely have to make some pakoras! Thank you!
hi come around to my italian res in london we have Aloo Gobi on the menu you will like it we have a lot of diferent foods on the menu as well as italian food
that's not correct. chickpea flour is made from chickpeas; besan flour is made from ground channa dal, which is the split/skinned black chickpea. sometimes the terms are used interchangeably, even on labeling, but sometimes they are a different product
Check out the cake mix section of your grocery store. You will usually find ingredients for making homemade bread there as well, and this is where they usually keep the Besan, which is Graham flour...
thank you for posting your videos on YouTube Manjula, you put things across in such a way that even a beginner can understand. I love pakoras and certainly will have a go at making my own.
Are all the ingredients vegan? I guess I didn't pay good attention. I know this sounds retarded to say on the internet, but I love "foreign" vegan food. But all the fat from frying!
Frying and fat have been given a bad name, unnecessarily. Vegetable oil actually prevents heart disease.
