  • Thank you Manjula for yet another mouthwatering recipe with easy to follow instructions. Do you have a cookbook?

  • Manjula aunty wdid you put rice flour in pakodas....

  • Good recipe. I want to make this ahead of time. Can pakodas be frozen and reheated?

  • @ilyt1203 if u had already fried it first and wish to reheat, make sure not to over fry it. just light one so that flour will stick and the other time u reheat it it wont turn black. but, i think the taste will be different

  • is it okay if i dont use Rice flower? and just use besan?

  • Manjula, you are a life saver and an inspiration. I've always wanted to get my kids to appreciate Indian food. My Mom was an amazing cook but died too early and I didn't get a chance to learn much from her. Your demos and methods are easier to follow than all my cook books. Thanks so very much.

  • I love your simple, fun and well explained demonstration. Thank you very much !

  • thank you!

  • Great...great contribution!

  • Manjula Ben, I noticed you did not use any baking powder or soda. I guess the rice flour makes it crispy. I think it is good not to use baking soda. Good recipe. Thanks. We can also use raw bananas sliced thin sideways. It tastes yummy.

  • I just love watching majula cook.. she is so passionate in what she does.. it really shows..

  • oh pakora i love it.eat it a lot of times at goapartys.

i cant get enough from it.

  • Manjula! I SO impressed my mother in law with your pakoras! My son ate so many he could not dine out with friends! I am so excited that I have been able to cook these delicious recipes that you have so kindly provided! THANK YOU!

  • I make this type of pakordas, but I use diced veggies. Potatoes, cauliflower, green bell pepper, and onions. The combination tastes great!

  • They look so tasty. Thank you for a wonderful recipe. I will try that today evening. I am only not so sure about using the coarsely grinded coriander seeds.

  • Hi Manjula Aunty,

First of all i would like to appreciate you for your simple cooking style which makes it easy to understand.

I have recently started viewing your videos so have tried only few dishes but I will definitely try most of the dishes by your recipe.

  • an idian coffee drink sounds good right now xD

  • i love your cooking.Thank you so much. If you kindly show us the recipe of spicy Khichdi that will be very nice of you.

  • I've been meaning to ask you, what type of vegetable oil do you prefer to use (canola? corn?....). Also, would you re-use the oil after frying, or do you throw it out when you're finished?

  • I prefer canola oil, do not like to re use the oil.

  • @basilweir : Though its been too late that I saw your comment still I thought I'll share what I do with the leftover oil. I use it to make paratha or dal, even vegetables sometimes. Using this oil in smaller quantities does not harm alot. To avoid having a lot of leftover oil I use a small utensil as well as smaller amount of oil as required. I hope this helps.

  • thank you so much! i will try that, i love them!

  • thanks for sharing espesially looooove the khabi khabi tune in the background xx

  • That was awesome. Thank you very much for sharing.

  • Hello Manjula, thankyou for the great recipes! You are wonderful!!!

  • thanlyou

  • Thank you very much for your video clips.

  • Manjula Ji,

If I do not have coarsely grinded Coriander Powder, what should I do? Can I replace that with something else? Or Can I ignore it? Can I add Dhaniya powder (Finely grinded)?

  • Just use Dhaniya powder.

  • Hello Manjula! I am so very excited to try these recipes. Please wish this poor anglo boy luck! I love indian food Pakora probably most. What is the name of th sauce you serve with it please and is there a recipe here for it? Is it a green chili sauce? It is a very thoughtful thing you do posting these cooking lessons. Thank you very much.

  • Hi Manjulaben,

Can I add all purpose flour instead of the rice flour, since I don't have rice flour?

    Thanks.

  • rice flour helps to make pakors crisp, if you dont have rice flour it will work but I will not advice you replace rice flour with all purpose flour.

  • Hello Manjulaji! Thanks for all the wonderful recipesss! I have a question, you added rice flour to your gram flour mixture for your pakora recipe. Is this your own taste or is this usually how pakora recipe is? Thanks again!

  • This is my own taste.

  • Namaste Manjulaji

It was a great idea to put the ingredients but if I may make a suggestin it might be better to put them at the list at the begging of the video so it will be easier to read or put somekind of background on the letters. Great recipe!!!

    Dhanyawaad

  • Don't confuse Gram flour with Graham flour. It is not a typo. The correct spelling in English is Gram. "Gram flour is a flour made from ground chickpeas. It is also known as chana flour (Indian), besan (Indian), kadale hittu (Kannada), chickpea flour and garbanzo flour (Spanish)."

  • pakora!!! i'ma make this one day lol thanks

  • I love pakora!!

  • thank you manjula... your videos are very helpful, and they make me hungry.

  • I have tried to make pakora from another recipe and they did not turn out well at all. Your recipe looks much better I will be sure to try it. I hope I can find a recipe for onion bhaji

  • I should try those one day.

  • these are good for vegans and vegetarians (: .

    super yummy .

oh & you can try it with egg plant .

    for some people .

    it's pretty good :))

  • This dish is called 'Pakora' in northern India and 'Bhajji' in southern India.

Conversely, the item known as 'Bhajjiya' in northern India goes by the term 'Pakoda' in southern India!! :-)

  • hi aunty you could teach my shefs a thing or two about indian cooking

  • ya thanks for teaching us your nice delicious! food aunty i will be posting sum italian delicious! food soon from the res

  • Wow, those look incredible! I can imagine how good they smell! It's 9:33 pm, haven't had dinner, and all that's in my fridge is a lousy sandwich. The agony! I'll definitely have to make some pakoras! Thank you!

  • hi come around to my italian res in london we have Aloo Gobi on the menu you will like it we have a lot of diferent foods on the menu as well as italian food

  • aunty three days only eating pakoras and pakoras

  • pakoda, chai and rain....oh aunty u make me cry thinking about my beautiful home....please dont make me homesick again :-)

  • oil is in the high heat?

  • This looks really wonderful! Thank you for sharing this excellent video with us. :)

I also like to make pakora. What kind of chutney do you make to go with them? Mint, or something else? It looks delicious!

  • Thank you, try the pakora with green chutney I have given this recipe before

  • I can't find besan in the stores. I did find chick pea flour. Could I use that or all purpose flour?

  • Chick pea flour will work batter

  • Chickpea flour is the same thing as chickpea flour. All purpose flour will result in a completely different kind of fritter- I don't recommend it.

  • Sorry, i meant to say that besan flour is the same thing as chickpea flour. :)

  • Thanks, I'm going to get some then!

  • that's not correct. chickpea flour is made from chickpeas; besan flour is made from ground channa dal, which is the split/skinned black chickpea. sometimes the terms are used interchangeably, even on labeling, but sometimes they are a different product

  • Check out the cake mix section of your grocery store. You will usually find ingredients for making homemade bread there as well, and this is where they usually keep the Besan, which is Graham flour...

  • Graham flour and Gram flour are not the same!

    Caution!

  • Those look unbelievable! I can't wait to try them! They'll make meat eaters AND vegans happy! ...xoxox...

  • thank you for posting your videos on YouTube Manjula, you put things across in such a way that even a beginner can understand. I love pakoras and certainly will have a go at making my own.

  • I tried the exact recipe and it came out really good. Thanks for posting such wonderful recipe videos.

  • Are all the ingredients vegan? I guess I didn't pay good attention. I know this sounds retarded to say on the internet, but I love "foreign" vegan food. But all the fat from frying!

  • Yes Pakors are vegan most of my recipes are vegan, thanks for showing interest.

  • Frying and fat have been given a bad name, unnecessarily. Vegetable oil actually prevents heart disease. The fat to be avoided is saturated fat (mostly animal fat) and trans fat (also known as hydrogenated or partially-hydrogenated oil). For the latest research, read Eat, Drink and Be Healthy, Walter Willett.

  • A Very lucky Man.. Your husband!! Thankyou for sharing with us your tried and true recipes...P

  • I'm hungry now
